My three-piece 39 inch Prebene bar (steel) now has a slight bow in the middle section after deadlifting once using a green Rubberbanditz 50-120 lb band doubled-under the foot plate . I now will only use it with lighter bands. I trust my Dasking three-piece 38 inch bar (aluminum) for the green band and above, although I haven't tried to stretch my orange functional fitness 70-170 lb and black Rubberbanditz 80-200 lb bands yet as I'm not strong enough. Although, now that you suggest that the screw-sections joint may be a weak point, I am now constantly aware of that while lifting. My setup now includes two Prebene bars, long and short, and two Dasking bars long and short as I don't like adjusting the bars during the workout. I'm 5'8" and I believe the different bar lengths are a must for proper starting tension. Looking forward to your pipe hacks so others don't have to purchase two $35 carabiners for the wide bands like I did.
I recently purchased the GEKU bar and two extra hooks. The extra hooks allow me to use the handles separately. Overall I'm impressed with the quality but I did make one mod. I disassembled the hooks and greased the bearing surfaces. This gives the bar a much more quality feal as the rotation is really smooth. If you're having issues with the segments coming unscrewed ( hasn't been an issue for me) I would suggest just picking the bar length you prefer and using some loctite blue thread locker. Using the blue, if you wanted to get it appart you certainly can but in typical use it won't unscrew. For the cost of this bar you could buy two of them and thread lock them into the lengths you use and you would still be far less out of pocket than X3 or Harambe. I understand why manufacturing on a small scale is expensive and those costs need to be passed on, but X3 and Harambe seem to be excessively price to me. Too many alternatives that work as well. I wonder how many reviewers would purchase those bars of they weren't making $ from youtube review videos or getting the bars for free? I know of manufacturers of products (not resistance band but other things) that refuse to give away their products to youtube influencers. Their products don't get reviewed very often. That's a shame.
I wish I had waited until after your review. I bought one as a gift based on a review by YT creator GamerBody. These flaws were not revealed in his review.
I started of with using the knock off brand bars and then realised I’m really into resistance band training. So I took the plunge and purchased the x3 system. I’ve never looked back, the quality really shows with the x3. I decided to make the big purchase so I don’t keep wasting money on these cheaper versions as I don’t think I’d ever be happy with the quality. Great videos as always 😀
I bought the 3 piece Prebene bar. My ends are much less wobbly than the ones shown in this video at 1:30. I'm really happy with the bar overall. Zero complaints really. And it included four bands for $44 all in.
GEKU FIT Resistance Band Bar, Length-Adjustable Detachable Heavy Duty Workout Bar for Resistance Band Training, Core Muscle Training, Home & Ourdoor Workout, Max Load 800 Lbs.
Just received mine. I feel like it’s good enough as an introduction to the X3 bar. It’s nice that you can adjust the length so you are able to go longer or the same length as the actual X3. Seems strong enough for rows/curls/pressing movements. I don’t think i’d use it for heavy deadlifts or squats (would rather use iron for this anyways) but otherwise it seems good enough!
I see that the J Bryant bar now has a choice of bare or plastic dip-coated hooks. Hmmm, the uncoated hooks might have the tight edge radii for fear of damaging the band but the plastic dip-coating may be too much friction to allow the band to slide to allow for even tension on both hands. Ugh.
nice bar especially if its cheaper, sturdy break down easily, other bars are strong but depends on weight limit, but all in all i like it!great topic on this nice bar mike 👍
I bought my wife the go fit bar she's used it for years. It has carabiners looking for one with hooks to speed up change of bands. She doesn't like knurling. This might be a decent solution she doesn't go heavy enough it would be an issue. The metal in the middle of the grip would probably annoy her
Have you tried/are you planning to try Bodylastics Curl Bar? I have it myself and love it! Great review. I watch all your videos because I'm part of the notification squad.
I have definitely seen that, I'm just personally not a fan of using carabiners and that style of bar as I've had one end snap right off. Which is also the worry with this bar in how it's made.
I actually didn't try that. That would make total of 5 different combinations with this thing. I'm surprised even they don't show all of them. I think on amazon it only shows 3. Great tip!
@@hybridresistance I emailed them, they’re gonna offer the short alone soon, so u don’t have to break down the bar everytime. I’m not asking for a full review, but next time u work out can you try it? I’d just like 1 sentence. It works well or doesn’t. Both arms are probably bad, like those uk grips but unilateral like one arm curl may be awsome. ON PAPER seems better than the band grips. Thank you for your time
@SlidingBenchTrainer Love your videos, Mike!! You're the GOAT when it comes to these types of videos on UA-cam. I could say so much more but I'll leave it at that. Thank you!!!
Great review, bought the Sun pow bands, this particular bar, cutting board, hockey foot plate. Xmas present for my son. Great reviews as always!
Hockey puck feet...

Thanks for sharing that update on the prebene bars.

It's not that bad, definitely will make for a good gift. Downside is just its lack of durable build for heavier loads.
Great review as usual.
While I do believe the X3 Bar and Harambe are overpriced, the quality difference shows through compared to these knockoffs.
Thanks brother!

I hear you brother. I think these are good for getting your feet wet and then if you’re going to commit, purchase a more expensive bar system.

Are you going to review the newer aluminum geku bar?
@@MidwestPyro55 I will look into that thank you

Definitely seems like a solid bar for all those things you listed.

Thanks for that update. I was not aware of that.
Wondering why don't they change the hooks to have rounded steel and not flat steel that will most likely wear on the bands?

If you're not going heavy, I can't see this thing causing an issue anytime soon.
i'm excited to see this diy bar, if you can make one with open hooks i think that would be big

I have known about that for sometime. I do need to check that out. Thanks so much for being on the squad!
Do you have a video with a recommended workout using resistance bands with these bars?
Here you go ua-cam.com/video/6keFKQCh0iM/v-deo.html
Portability is the key feature.😊
I enjoy this specific version.
have you tried the Dasking bar? I got mine a few weeks ago from Amazon, and it's been pretty solid

@@hybridresistance makes sense
Not seeing anything in the comments, but can i go to a metal shop and make your suggestions for sturdier bar?
I'm sure a good metal worker could create a great solid piece. I'd also suggest you check out this one as well ua-cam.com/video/s4O90bDbaqk/v-deo.html
U know u can make it one small single hand handle?
