Small craft in a harbour that’s still and serene
Give no indication what their ways have been.
They rock at their moorings all nestled in dreams
Away from the roll of the sea.
Their stern lines are groaning a lullaby air,
A ghost in the cuddy, a gull on the spar.
But never they whisper of journeys afar,
Away from the roll of the sea.
Oh, had they the tongues for to speak
What tales of adventure they’d weave.
But now they are anchored to sleep
And slumber alee.
Come fair winds to wake them tomorrow we pray.
Come harvest aplenty to them ev’ry day,
Till guided by harbour lights they’re home to stay,
Away from the roll of the sea.

What a beautiful performance! The song's writer is Canadian. He's from Cape Breton, and has written other lovely songs such as Out on the Mira.
I love the interpretation! well done!
very good
Such a beautiful song and what a wonderful performance!
Such a beautiful song, flawless performance!
Wonderful! One of the best performances of this I have ever found.
The best performance of this song that I have heard. I love Allister's music and play some of the songs on my guitar. My favorite of course is Out on the Myra. But this was just beautiful. Thank you.
這個真的太好聽了,你們真的太棒了🌟
The Victoria Arion Male Choir who I sing with have done this beautiful song virtually and in public concerts.
真的好喜歡這首QVQ
Wonderful male choir, just like the Kwansei Gakuin Glee Club(Japan,KOBE)!
I remember singing this in High School in 2012. I was told this was written by someone from Michigan or at least that the song was about the Great Lakes? Can anyone verify this? I'm from Michigan
I believe so? I sang it last year and I am almost positive my director said it was.
Understand that this song was written by Allister McGillivray from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and sounds like an arrangement by Diane Loomer.
I'm pretty sure that David C is correct; my father is from Nova Scotia and his family had a cottage on the Mira when he was growing up--he found this and loved it. It's so lovely, but I can't help wondering how these young men came across it xo
The writer, Allister MacGillivray is from Cape Breton, Canada. I visited his shoo there and have an autographed copy of the CD Songs from the Mira. It is not from Michigan and it does not refer to he Great Lakes. My granddaughter’s HS choir also sang it. MacGillivray is very talented and has written several songs for Nashville.
Written by Allister MacGillivray from Nova Scotia Canada, it is NOT a song about Lake Michigan, nor any of the Great Lakes.
Een prachtig lied
