What started as a protest against a quota system for government jobs in Bangladesh has turned into widespread looting and rioting across the country, with the minority community, mainly Hindus, coming under attack. With Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India and an interim government still to be formed. Social media was flooded with reports of Hindu properties and temples being attacked by angry mobs. An ISKCON temple in Meherpur, located in the Khulna Division of the country, was set ablaze along with the idols of deities including Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra Devi.
