Sorry, but the people who came to see the exhibition in 1958 were not racist, and neither were the organizers. Congo was our colony and most people just wanted to see what it looked like because they couldn't travel there. The idea of the expo was to bring the African reality closer to the people who had no access to it. They watched because they were curious.Many Belgians had never seen a black person before and had only heard about life in Congo via relatives. The expo had only good intentions. Please also note that tens of thousands of Belgian volunteers worked in Congo for free during the 50's. Engineers, teachers, priests, doctors, nurses, ... They did whatever they could to support the Congolese people, and the Congolese did appreciate the help. Don't judge history by today's standards please.

I think there are photos ,videos ,documentary and other forms of media as of that time ,which l feel is enough if actually they curious and want to learn about African culture, this was how we learnt about the American red Indians in Africa through photos etc .Putting them in a gated environment that they are not used to and having people to pay to come and watch them like animals in the zoo without any form of privacy cannot be justified.

Today people fly to countries far away. But in 1958 hardly anyone could afford a plane ticket. So they brought the world to 1 place, where people could admire other cultures.
