    Thank you for your demonstration and for serious people who like to learn about gardening. ❤ I plan on giving a lilic clipping to a good friend who lost and misses her mom this Mothers day.

    It helps to scrape off some material off the step to expose the cambium layer so it absorbs the rooting hormone better.
    I had success with all 20 cuttings including some leaves with petiole. I placed them in coco coir and have them in a small short tub covered with plastic under a fluorescent for 24 hours. a couple of weeks and they will be ready for soil. You can do it!

      Thanks for this comment. You should make a video. I’ve been watching videos for an hour trying to find out if this will work since my transplant of my shooters seems to be failing.

    Kind of heart broken right now because we're having our deck replaced in May and the lilac has to come out. I think I'm past the point where it could be viable now.That lilac tree has special meaning in our family too😢 Called arborists and landscapers, no one would do it. 😢😢

    Were they successful? How many of them actually rooted? Do you have any follow-up videos on these cuttings?

      If you have access to any type of willow tree, you can make some rooting hormone by cutting 1 inch pieces of the willow sticks and pouring boiling water onto them to soak. Once cooled, strain out the willow pieces and you're left with the willow rooting solution.

    What time of year do you recommend getting the most tender green shoots? Before flowering?

    • @meiray
      @meiray 2 роки тому +3

      I’d say mid-June is the latest. You’ll still find some greenish shoots on a bush after flowering, but they do harden off as the blooms fade, and the already so-so chances of getting them to root diminish.

    After 6-8 weeks to we transplant them into the ground ?
    What soil do u recommend

    • @meiray
      @meiray 2 роки тому

      You could plant them out, but I would give them protection - mulch, a wall or trees, and some sort of barrier like a clear plastic bin with the lid ajar over them to help with frost and especially wind. Also fine to just pot on and then keep in a pot over the winter. Could leave in a garage by a window between frosts. Should be fine in a standard potting mix.
