Thank you for your demonstration and for serious people who like to learn about gardening. ❤ I plan on giving a lilic clipping to a good friend who lost and misses her mom this Mothers day.
It helps to scrape off some material off the step to expose the cambium layer so it absorbs the rooting hormone better.
I had success with all 20 cuttings including some leaves with petiole. I placed them in coco coir and have them in a small short tub covered with plastic under a fluorescent for 24 hours. a couple of weeks and they will be ready for soil. You can do it!
I'm going to try
Thank you for the information. That is really encouraging!
Fantastic!!
Thanks for this comment. You should make a video. I’ve been watching videos for an hour trying to find out if this will work since my transplant of my shooters seems to be failing.
This woman
should have a show. Seriously her presence is fabulousm
Thanks for sharing. I'm really thinking about doing my own. I love lilac's. Brings me back to my childhood.
Well, that looks easy enough.
I plan on doing about 200 or so to surround my entire yard. Should be a busy spring.
I love lilacs, but don't have them in Texas. Just got some in Ohio! I love them as did my sweet Mom!!
Kind of heart broken right now because we're having our deck replaced in May and the lilac has to come out. I think I'm past the point where it could be viable now. That lilac tree has special meaning in our family too😢 Called arborists and landscapers, no one would do it. 😢😢
Were they successful? How many of them actually rooted? Do you have any follow-up videos on these cuttings?
Is there anything you can use as a substitute for hormone rooting powder?
Looking for at-home solutions if any 😊
Yes. ua-cam.com/video/zzhTv5bVS0M/v-deo.html
If you have access to any type of willow tree, you can make some rooting hormone by cutting 1 inch pieces of the willow sticks and pouring boiling water onto them to soak. Once cooled, strain out the willow pieces and you're left with the willow rooting solution.
🐝 HONEY
Great info
Thank you
Awesome video thanks, going to try and see if I cant take some a little late this year its been a weird one for us
Awesome name for the book
Is there a best time of year to try this?
Will it work without the growth hormone ?
yes. you can also use aspirin or honey.
I like your voice!
Same! And the content is amazing

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t even think it was possible! Should I keep them in the dark or water again? Wish me luck :)
What time of year do you recommend getting the most tender green shoots? Before flowering?
I’d say mid-June is the latest. You’ll still find some greenish shoots on a bush after flowering, but they do harden off as the blooms fade, and the already so-so chances of getting them to root diminish.
After 6-8 weeks to we transplant them into the ground ?
What soil do u recommend
You could plant them out, but I would give them protection - mulch, a wall or trees, and some sort of barrier like a clear plastic bin with the lid ajar over them to help with frost and especially wind. Also fine to just pot on and then keep in a pot over the winter. Could leave in a garage by a window between frosts. Should be fine in a standard potting mix.
@@meiray thank you ! Appreciate it
Nice Marco Rubio move
An orther?
I tried and cut the green branches from Ohio, even though they're not fresh... got lots but not sure if it will work on any!! Let's pray!
Did they work
@@chompers11 Yes! Only one is growing and has Six leaves! I'm so excited..
@@kayw.4689 amazing! How many nodes were the cuttings?
I’m going to put cuttings in water and see what happens
Did it work?
@@psampson1984 nope
Ok that doesn't make since when you go to water it your flushing all the rooting powder away so why bother.

You talk like I'm 10 years old.....
The world is full of idiots. You have to talk to people like they're 10 yrs old or they won't understand
OMG are you talking to children? Ha Ha Ha what a crock no one can take lilac cuttings I’ve given up after 15 yrs and went out and bought 2 at the garden centre.
Is Mrs. Gates talking to an audience of children somewhere? Not a tone of voice to teach adults, you sound like you're reading to preschoolers
Bro lol what's wrong with you? You sound like a preschooler. Imagine getting triggered on someone's channel because of their voice like... log off mate
