How to Move Baby Chickens to a New Coop
That's beautiful! ❤
*insert Monty Python sketch reference*
Hahaha
the prettiness is a siren song
No... Queen Anne's Lace IS WILD CARROT!!! The first image is poison himlock wich is VERY TOXIC if ingested!!
Thank you for pointing that out. They can look very similar depending on what stage of growth they are at.
Beautiful place 😊
@@user-ov1gk9oq7t A good friend of ours. I told him he should buy some cows lol
Wish I had one.😮😮😅
This is a friend's place but would like my own:)
Looks like any random back road out here in rural Ashtabula County Ohio.
Amazing the amount of space and potential
outstanding
Great place to grow some healthy cattle
Yes, for sure!
Because guns are so evil?
Cool, unexpected combination, for sure.
Nice 😊
Pretty funny, right?
Where in MN are you?
Much further North than I want to be lol
@@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyan Come down to Mankato. south central and i'll show you my food forest!
Would like to but it's a bit too far. How big of a food forest do you have? Maybe next year we can plan a visit out.
@@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyanIt's not huge, but I have it packed with as much as i can. front and back yard
That's great to hear. Any favorites for this Zone and area?
Bigger cage and you'll be set
I think it'll work really well.
Excellent information thank you. Perennial? Annual?
Perennial. I linked to a full video about the plant
Looks like eggplant 😉
Oh, really? We'll happy if it is:)
I didn't know that comfrey could grow so large. Thanks!
It gets even larger, depending. This is the regroeth after 3-4 weeks.
Sadly we have pets and especially our little veggie munching dogs would be threatened by this. Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) can be toxic to dogs if ingested orally. Oral consumption Comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) that can cause severe liver damage, sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, and other symptoms if ingested in large quantities. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, jaundice, and abnormal behavior. Comfrey roots are more toxic than the leaves, and PAs can also be absorbed through the skin. If your dog eats comfrey, you should clear any remnants from their mouth, rinse them with water, offer them a small amount of milk or water, and take them to the vet.
Wow, good point. Thank you for sharing.
Yeehaw
I was digging in to check once and got bitten by a copperhead… I’m super cautious now.. Be safe.
Oh wow that is scary. I guess it does make sense that a snake would curl up in there. Thank you for mentioning that.
@@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyan I’ve had a lot of trouble with snakes lately.. my last short is one I caught on the snake egg I made.. sometimes I have to make them for my chickens nests boxes
I need to update my notifications because I am not being notified of replies. I'll go look at that Short. Sounds interesting.
You need to pull it by the roots
No end to the way chickens can get into trouble!
Hahaha they love goji berries, I guess.
Thank you for the video.
You're very welcome.
Destroyed a tailgate on a F150 doing that one time, take it off when I haul ever since
Wow, I'll have to think about that for next time.
We have a similar setup, which is what made me click on it. Our coop is made from reclaimed garden boxes from long ago, 2×12 pine (?) boards. We used a shed style roof with one slope to it, it was easier, and a metal roof. We have 7' field fencing, maybe its 20X30' surrounding. It is this size because there was an enclosed green house on the property ( very bad shape), but we used the frame of it to cover in chicken wire for overhead protection. The feild fencing was also reclaimed from elsewhere on the property. We are firm believers in reusing everything we can, so yes we have a couple of scrap piles.
That sounds really nice, especially with the chicken wire overhead. How do you like the metal roof? I wish we had a single slope, so that water catchment would make more sense.
This is a beautiful enclosure
Thank you so much! We just got done with a few adjustments to the overhead netting.
Yes, Comfrey is also good for making liquid fertiliser, just soak it in water. The water will turn brown, and it is diluted by 10 parts water to one part Comfree. Thanks.
Thank you! I have seen some people would try to aerate that mixture in a large trash can or something similar. I may need to try something like this for some of my gardens that are without a nearby water source.
I did this last year my girls loved the cherry tomatoes and the plant was 16 foot....
Wow that's amazing! I planted mine a little late in the year but maybe it'll get close to that.
Marvelous! So much easier than lifting one at a time off.
They are the smaller bales, so I can throw one or two in a wheel barrow and bring it to the coop.
Did the Gate close? It looks warped.
Yes, it could use an adjustment and maybe a lower handle.
I bet your nickname is MacGyver😊
Haha, yep and I have my own show on YT:)
Yep did that with the big 4x8 bales👍👍👍
Glad we still had a strong tree in the backyard:)
I hope it was a drop the clutch situation and it worked just how we thought it would. P.S. ???
Haha yeah, nothing that awesome...it just slid right out. Didn't even need 4wd.
Time to start making some soil, not all of those plants look too happy.
Yes, some need to be up-potted, for sure. I also think that most of these trees will go in this fall, if they haven't sold.
I admire what you are doing. I'm doing a smaller version in northern Illinois, which is also 5b. Hey, I wonder if you've found those are milkweed and not comfrey? The video isn't clear, but it sure looks like a variety of milkweed rather than comfrey. I'm also wondering if you're aware that black walnut creates a toxin in the soil that will kill off almost everything around the tree? I chose to dig up the ones growing in my backyard and donate them to the high school, where they have a huge lot with nothing on it. Anyway, thanks for sharing your project and information! Best wishes for your continued success!
Yes, I think you're right. We have tried to plant natives from our county along the walkways. It gets a little confusing because I plant so many other things randomly. Thanks for the comment. I am still kinda running my own experiments on black walnut but would really like to get them swapped out for the Japanese Heartnut. Have you heard of those?
@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyan yes, I just watched another permaculture video that covered assorted nuts, including heart nuts, black walnuts, and hazelnut. The heart nuts and hazelnut were worth the effort, but the black walnut wasn't. I've subscribed to your channel, so I'll look forward to your updates.
Loving see these to help the monarchs!! 🫂
Do you have links to enroll in the Butterfly Waystation and the Wildlife thing? I'd like to pass it along to a friend.
www.monarchwatch.org/waystations/#register Monarch Watch website has a questionnaire to fill out and then a fee to get registered. I think the signs are an additional cost.
Lol. I dont think so. My girls used to eat all my tomatoes. I dont think that wire is enough. Cant wait to see though. Lol
Hahaha might need better defenses, but I think it's a pretty cool idea.
@@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyan its super neat idea!!
Only problem with that is that tomato plants are poisonous to chickens!
They are? We had one there before and they knocked the cage over to get to the plant and eat...maybe it was the Guineas that ate it?
I like the cement feet
Thanks, we have a few different molds, and it's fun to play with them.
Yup.. cause i wanna see if they eat it or not..😂😂
They've already ate all of my asparagus, so I bet they would like some tomatoes!
Im sorry, i couldnt help but watch this for your Guinea Hens in the back 😅
Yeah, they are interesting, for sure:)
But.....why....?
Wanted to take advantage of the fertility. We also have goji berries and chokeberries planted in there. Will probably just feed it to the birds, though.
Pest control as well
Congradulations ur an inspiration to me kind sir
So very glad to hear that:)
I learned. Thank you.
You're welcome and thank you.
thank you- if we all chipped in a bit for the environment to give back to the earth thats given us so much, people would be much better off.. we cant destroy the planet- but if we dont do more to restore nature to balance we will destroy ourselves.
Yes, for sure. We can all do something and I think a lot of people are.
i swear i only took inches off my cherry and it went absolutely nuts
It is really incredible how some plants respond.
Beautiful mulberry tree
Thank you!
Cut your scapes bro. You're going to get tiny onions / garlic
Haha yeah they are getting wild!
Just a note-these White Pineberries are going to be producing mainly just after my Strawberries are done, so I won't have a gap in production.
I would like more information on this, please. ❤
They are Egyptian Walking Onions. Each single bulb can be replanted, but I usually do them in bunches. Were you thinking of buying/planting some?
@@GrowWithGordon.JamesPanyan yes. I have a garden I’m creating a “Food Forest”. Where are you located? I’m in Brisbane. 😀
