  • Today at Ewetopia Farms, we are sorting, moving, and shearing sheep and then heading back to the fields to try get our crops in. Join us on the farm as we tackle a variety of tasks in this exciting UA-cam video! This morning, we faced a setback due to rain, which prevented us from planting corn. However, we made the most of the situation by focusing on our sheep.
    First, we sorted the newly weaned Suffolk lambs into separate groups of rams and ewes. With the rams removed, we set up two new pens for the ewe lambs and the straggler group.
    Next, we embarked on a journey to bring the straggler group to the Coveralls. But before that, we had to shear off one ewe. As we were shearing, you won't believe what happened! A curious little Suffolk triplet bottle baby hopped out of her pen and joined us in the shearing process. She is absolutely adorable!
    Once the shearing was complete, we gathered everyone and headed to the Coveralls. With the sheep work done, we returned to the fields to continue our farming activities.
    Don't miss out on this captivating video that showcases the daily tasks and unexpected moments on our farm. Join us as we navigate through sorting, moving, shearing, and even witness the adorable antics of our little bottle baby lamb. Subscribe now and be a part of our farming adventures!

    A very productive day on the farm! The shears do a great job and that was a wonderful gift. I know the girl being sheared was much more comfortable afterwards. Little Miss Muffet has grown so big and is still adorable!❤ Thanks for a great video and stay safe!!🙏❤

    Good morning Arnie and Lynn. That lamb wants to know what’s happening. 😂😂😂. Those new shears are doing a great job. Well those stragglers are going to be cooler than everyone else. Lucky girls. Little Miss Muffet is really stunning. What a gorgeous face she has. Wow. It is so very cool to see how much Spartacus has grown and what a happy little guy he is. His mama totally adores him. Thanks for a nice day. Big big hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

      Yes, the stragglers got their wool off first. They may not look pretty but they feel great. The rest of the sheep are being shorn in a few days by a professional!😉🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰

    Lynn and Arnie, you guys are super shearers. I’m so glad you have a moment here and there to do the job. 🐑
    Had to chuckle at the nosy lamb! She certainly wanted to be involved. 😁
    I just want to snuggle wee Spartacus. I can understand how mom feels. She’s so protective of him and truly loves him. Has the little guy tried to nurse on her?
    Miss Muffet…she’s going to be an awesome ewe! 💛

      Unfortunately, he doesn't nurse off her. I'm sure she would have loved him too. She thinks he's the bees knees and follows him everywhere 😁🥰🥰

    You and Arnie are doing a really great job shearing the sheep. If only you had the time and energy to do them all.
    WOW, Little Miss Muffet sure has grown. She is a beauty.
    On your IG yesterday. I strongly suspected when that stray Tom came around on the hay bale with Tommy. Too cute but yet a sad story.
    THANK EWE!!

      I figure it would take us months to shear them ourselves. Now, if we had a small flock, I think we would definitely do it. 🙂

    I often have to promise international friends that I'm swearing to tell the truth, about seasonal outside working conditions in Canada. They get get it that we have snow and cold in the winter, but can't quite get their heads around our extremes. Although this past winter was way milder than normal, we have to be ready to dress for summer to winter temperatures from +40° C to -40° C.

      Yes, I would definitely describe Canadian weather as having extreme fluctuations in temperatures! 😄

      The Tick was with Arnie coming in from the field… yesterday’s video or maybe the day before…he still was acting like a puppy. Could just see the purple asterisk on his back.

    It is really good that you noticed the cast sheep in time to save them! It sure was challenging to get the sheep out of their barn. It's too bad that it's so humid there. Those shearers were the perfect gift. I'm sure she loves her new haircut lol! That ewe lamb really looks like she has attitude for sure. The sheep looked like they enjoyed moving barns, there was even a little hopping! It's so nice that Arnie is back on the fields. Little Miss Muffet is so gorgeous! Hopefully you guys and the sheep stay cool. Ii just can't believe how well Spartacus is doing now. It's so good to see! Have a great day and see you tomorrow. ❤🐑

      Yes, the lambs liked their move to the new barn. The old barn is nice and cozy but the Coveralls feel like freedom even on days they are indoors because it is so bright and airy. Yes, Spartacus is doing great for such a poor start 🥰

    What blade do ye use to shear the ewe ?

    • @EwetopiaFarms
      @EwetopiaFarms  4 місяці тому +2

      The one it came with!😁 We are total novices at this!

    Have you felt like your shears are getting a little sticky. Or you have to push harder. Try dipping the blades in water while turned on. It cleans them up and much more smooth sailing. I keep a bucket of warm water handy, but cold works too.

    • @EwetopiaFarms
      @EwetopiaFarms  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the tips! They do get sticky. Arnie has a metal scrub brush he uses to rub the gunk off.
