They actually went in a lot tours in the past years that bleed was out of the set list, but I've heard that they brought it back in this winter tour happening as we speak! the first time I saw meshuggah live back in 08. They played only half of bleed. Just like in the music video, cause they didn't have time to reherse it properly before the tour I heard, that tells you the level of endurance that song requires.@@qwerty.4450

I love these guys! They've been such an inspiration to so many bands over the years. Misha Mansoor from Periphery loves them. He's got some side projects that are very Meshuggah-inspired. Also, Meshuggah's current main bass player Dick Lövgren was a stand-in bass teacher at my school in high school. At that time he was a stand-in for Meshuggah's bass player, but he later on became their main. ❤

I've seen them live about 20 years ago, and this was their closing track back then too, and it's just absolutely insane. Seeing them now, so many years later, doing it better than ever, with all grey beards and sh*t, is honestly kind of unbelievable. To play this only track alone is insane, let alone doing it at the end of a 1+ hour show. I mean they are the absolute master of this, and are just on top of their game even after so many years!

Now you guys need to checkout the Studio Version and read the lyrics. Still my fave album and track.
When you hear how the guitar solo sounds (in-studio), you'll have to find Fredrik's muse, the late Jazz/Fusion guitarist "Allan Holdsworth", where Fredrik gets that "sound" when he used to play his solo in that style back then (and his solo efforts).
Also, as the "Wife" said; "Thinking of Math", well there is a subgenre or umbrella term called "Math Metal" (not "Mathcore", which would be created by "Dillinger Escape Plan" in 1997), and the band I heard 1st called that was *Watchtower* in 1988 for their 2nd album "Control and Resistance".
    Some bands to try out:
    Watchtower
    Sieges Even (debut album)
    Atheist (A Questionable Presence)*
Thought Industry (their debut album; Songs for Insects)
    Zero Hour
    Spiral Architect
    Aghora
    Cynic (Focus)
    Alarum
    Twisted Into Form
    Momento Waltz
    To-Mera
    Fractal Universe
Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects (from the Lead-Guitarist of Meshuggah)*
. . . for starters. And most have "Melodic" vocalists (except those with *).
There are TONS of Technical-Death Metal bands that are complex as well.
