I saw your posts on instagram about the storm and power outage, that’s so crazy! I’m glad everyone’s safe and you managed to get through it. And a generator is super useful!

Hi there love the videos so inspiring! Did you guys sand and finish your flooring? Thanks so much we’re looking at all the options for our flooring on our yurt trying to keep it as healthy as possible

Thanks! Yes, if you look back at our yurt videos from summer 2020, you can see us sanding and using water based polyurethane on the floor (2x6 tongue & groove douglas fir). We love our floor for sure! Thanks for the kind words :)

I used to go to school with one of your kids. (I dont remember her name lol) and we still live in the area. The ice storm was so funny.

Sorry about all of your damage from the ice storm. You usually have a mild winter in the Willamette Valley, don't you? I guess this is an unusually bad storm. Ice storms always cause a lot of damage. Your family did well in handling this situation.

Yes, typically we have very mild winters. I asked our neighbor who has lived here over 70 years, and she said an ice storm comes about once per decade in her experience.

I've really enjoyed watching the journey you and your family have taken. We are thinking about moving to the Willamette Valley or up near Olympia. It is crazy seeing exactly how similar our plan is to what you have already done/ have in process/or planned. Speaking of planning, we are mapping out our finances and I had a question for you. If you had to choose one or the other: a tractor or a skid steer? We sold our farm in TX where I had a 50hp tractor with a loader, but being in the PNW I was considering trying to get by with a skid steer, seeing how I would probably be clearing land among all the other things it does. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the comment! I absolutely love the skid steer, and call it the ultimate farm tool. If you can afford to go skid steer, I'd definitely recommend it. If you choose the Willamette Valley, let us know!
