When many men were clean shaven. I much prefer that look to the ever popular facial hair trend. Call me old fashioned, or just old.

I can't grow a decent beard either. I went into the Marines at age 18 in 1983 and was taught about daily shaving. Since then I've associated it with proper appearance. I've been working in a job that requires me to be clean shaven at work since 1991, but was clean shaven before that for the most part. It's like how people used to dress for travel on a plane, train, or bus. You didn't even go to the store in house clothes. Now people go out in pajamas and slippers like it's no big deal. While some men can wear a beard nicely, many others are simply lazy, unkempt, or unwise in the ways of a good and proper shave that won't leave you feeling raw and irritated. These are my options only. Like I said, call me old fashioned, or call me old, just don't call me late for dinner!

Nothing is wrong with a lowly trimmed moustache and trimmed goatee while everything else clean.

A color TV commercial featuring a Gillette 195 "Fatboy". Probably 1960-1961, it's got that early 60's Peter Gun vibe. It's interesting that they were doing commercials in color that early in the 60's when most people didn't have a color TV because they couldn't afford the high cost.

They maybe showed in movie theaters in color, before the movie?

It’s a cinema advert, it even has BBFC U certificate in the bottom corner the moment the commercial starts for a few seconds

I alternate between a 1965 Slim Adjustable and a 40s SuperSpeed as my daily shaver. These were so well made Gillette lost money because customers held onto them. I bought mine used, they were affordable and their brass parts are better than the current de razors made from pot metal (zinc). Double Edge blades are not only significantly cheaper than cartridges, you will be less likely to suffer irritation, razor burn or ingrown hairs as a result of the blades cutting beneath the skin.

Well, they didn’t lose money per se, this was their Loss Leader model. That’s why you can still find all of them still today! They made their money selling blades, that was the intent. Thanks for stopping by! Also, I recommend the book “Russell B Adams
King C. Gillette, the man and his wonderful shaving device”, it’s a classic.
