I know this is probably not a popular opinion but I can’t help but feel heartbroken for how this child was failed….in more ways then one. He was only 15. What happened or did not happen in his 15 years that would lead him to do this? Then there were a few students that reported Ethan's behavior in a classroom. Those students stayed home the day of! The school administration knew all about Ethan's long list of behavior issues! He should have been kicked out! The school administration has to report these behaviors to the School's Board then the Board contacts the authorities for future reference! Instead he was able to return to his classroom with his "early Christmas present"! There's no record of Ethan being bullyied or being a bully! My deepest condolences. The school did not want all the attention from the parents if they made it clear he was a threat. They would be expected to do something . They intentionally kept the school resource officer out of the meetings with the kid and his parents he should have been there 1st the officer is there to keep the kids safe he should have been made aware of any threats so he could monitor the situation. I believe he would have called the threat a threat and that’s why the school left him out intentionally. Whatever was said in that meeting was a warning to all but the school sent out a letter that said no worries everything is fine the school is safe when it wasn’t. If a doctor sees signs of abuse and doesn’t report it he or she can be held accountable the school has the same responsibility. We depend on them to keep our children safe at school.
