Great stuff, best updated with Dr Bergma's additional material. Thanks for the video. I hope lecturers quit the habit of talking to their screens (pointing at the maps)... thank goodness, the rest was fine, in fact good. The horrid way the bedouins dealt with these antiquities says a lot about both their poverty as well as abject self-interest.
This guy sounds like Bob Odenkirk and that's making this so entertaining
Amazing lecture. Thank you!
Thank you for your reply, and please know that I'm trying to help you achieve the widest and largest audience possible. I've been studying early Christianity for many years and recently have watched about 30 videos on the Essenes/Dead Sea Scrolls/Christianity and I like Dr. Barber's the best. And even though I am not a video media expert, I was a digital imaging/retouching expert for Kodak and other media companies for many years and I'm pretty sure you can pull-down this video and edit the audio by compressing/clipping/normalizing it thus yielding a natural sounding and more "listenable" video, and then repost it. I think that will make it more likely to go "viral" or at least more likely that listeners will link it and send it to others to watch/hear. One thing I learned from my years as a digital imaging specialist is that continuous quality improvement is the M.O.
What else do the dead see other than scrolls?
This is a great presentation on The dead sea scrolls and Christian origins. Thank you very much and please teach more on the importance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Christianity.
Great explanation
Very peculiar. The Dead Sea scrolls are old testament and tied to a second temple period seperatist Jewish sect. I don't understand why anyone would try to force them into a Christian perspective.
This is relevant to all Christians and not just those of the Catholic Church. If you know anything of some of the nondenominational churches, then you already know this to be true! I cannot account this to the Protestant Churches, as I’ve not studied any of their belief systems.
When he cites "The Messianic Apocalypse" from the DSS at the time of
the community rules clearly have rules for women and children so it's not who the scholars think they are
just telling the truth hw it is. Hope no one gets mad or angry.

Here's a historical trivia question for you Religion Scholars.
Sorry falks but your words isn't reliable. YOU DIDN'T EVEN SHOW THE ORIGINAL TXT YOU ARE JUST CLINGING TO THE ENGLISH TXT WITHOUT SHOWING THE ORIGINAL TXT. YOU ARE SUCH DOING A TACTIC TO HIDE THE MEANING OF THE READ SEA SCROLL
Michael fails to tie together the theme of the "twelve men" in the Comunuity counsel and the twelve disciples chosen by Jesus as having an origin in the symbolism of the twelve tribes of Israel.
At 56 min he tries to infer that one of the Dead Sea Scrolls refer to a Messianic figure (which is def debatable in the first place) with being interchangable with God. That is not the case from that text. Not in the English nor in it's original.
I am 6 minutes into this presentation and I am NOT impressed.
