Having grown up in Montreal, and been lucky enough to go to lots of games a season, I never understood how special the game environment and intensity was.

As a fellow maritimer, I'm glad you got to have that experience. I remember moving to Montreal as a 19 year old, it was such a life changing experience going to the old forum and watching live Habs games where there were 10 times the population of my hometown in the crowd alone. Hope you enjoyed the city too while you were there, I've lived all over the country and Montreal was my favorite city to be in by far!

I'm from Saskatchewan and went to my first live Bell Centre game April 6th, 2019 and I'll never forget it. Playing the Leafs in their last regular season tilt, Poehling made his debut and scored a hat-trick + the shoot-out winner, Lindgren was absolutely stone cold, and to top it off, some French Rockets were buying me drinks all game 😂

Tank Commander...I'm stealing that🤣. I was sitting close to you during the Lightning game. Also stopped in at the Cage and had wings with my twin brother after the game. Next time you're in Montreal, stop in at Barfly for a Play-off game. Voted top 3 best bars to watch a play-off game and top 3 sleaze bar...so you know drinks are MUCH cheaper then the Bell Centers. We have a pool going every game. A tooney gets you a Hab that if he scores the next goal...you take all the scratch! After the game, live music of all kinds. I'll be sitting there with my Black Eye From Xhekaj Hockey Junkie Hoodie. Loved my trip to The Rock. Keep doing what you do, you're the best source of Habs analysis and laughs.

Addicting isn't it? First time at the Bell Center was in 2007, went with a buddy, kind of a bucket list kind of thing, don't really remember much about it, but my wife framed the photo of the ice, the actual tickets (back when they actually had paper tickets) and the score, so I know I was there.
Fast forward to April 2023, and I have tickets purchased from a season ticket holder on one of the Habs FB groups I belong to. Closest game around my birthday, game vs Detroit, team had pretty much checked out by then, Primeau was in nets, and it wasn't a pretty night, getting shut out 4-0 by the Wings.
After that, my wife and I both found it addicting, despite the loss, said it was a good thing we didn't live in Montreal, because we would be on the waiting list for season tickets, and vowed to go again this year.
2024 rolls around and low and behold, Florida game falls on my birthday, so I get tickets from the same person (had I been made of money I could have had tickets for the whole week, but Justin takes all my extra cash in Carbon taxes, so only one game for me). Going into the game, I was wishing for a win, but would be satisfied so long as they scored, so I could experience a Bell Center goal celebration. And score they did. Was a great game.
Was very different this year vs last. Last year they had a stage set up in the court yard, band playing, lots of activities, this year there was nothing. Also last year, we went in the VIP door, but they had everyone backed up in that location and couldn't really go anywhere, other than the food court and the big Habs shop downstairs. This year, it was wide open, and my wife and I ended up walking all the way around the Bell Center on the main level.
Habs and the Bell Center, really know how to put on a show, my only other comparison is a couple of games I saw in Ottawa (not vs the Habs), those tickets were given to us, so why not, but what they do for entertainment at the Bell Center, and the show that they put on before the game and in between periods is awe inspiring. Can't wait until this team gets to the point where the games will mean something getting into the post season. Might have to try and take in a playoff game if my ticket guru allows!

Good that you enjoyed yourself there. I myself still miss the old Forum. You didn't mention going there. I was actually there for Game 2 and Game 5 in 1993 with my father, in the nosebleeds centre ice. I miss everything about the Forum, even the colour of the seats (bright and shiny bleu blanc rouge) to that loud siren. And of course, the old locker room, still encrusted with the blood of Jacques Plante and Rocket Richard, and those famous words. I could even tell you the smell.
Next time, consider a pilgrimage to hockey history, which is all there in Montreal: where the first game was played (Victoria Skating Rink; 150th anniversary is next year), where the Stanley Cup gets engraved every year since its inception (Boffey Silversmiths), where the NHL was born (Windsor Hotel), and of course, what remains of the Montreal Forum.

Hey HJ, I love how much you enjoyed the great city of Montreal. I was born there and lived in Candiac (you may have seen a sign for it when you were in Brossard) until I was 8 years old. My family moved to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and that's where I grew up, but Montreal will always be in my heart, just like Les Glorieux, Les Habitants, our Montreal Canadiens.
Like you, I love our team for next year, can't wait to see what the Kentster does this summer.
Hey, I'll seeeee ya next time 😀

Can you make sure to plan another trip around May 6th & 7th when the Lottery is due ? :)
