This is one of the best videos I've watched this year..
Appreciate it 🙏🙏
The best trainers / owners think outside the box. Question long held training ideas!
100%!
Hi David, from what i heard Ivan has a complete system for dealing with the issue of reactivity and aggression, its different and unique. on the one hand, of course, positive reinforcement through play or somtimes food, but on the other hand, he has a concept called "p. event" that includes 3 stages. And regarding aggression from what I understood he has a concept that includes using two leash with the trainer. I suggest maybe to check this and bringing it up for discussion. For the benefit and walfare of the dogs and the owners and trainers
I’ve heard of the double leash stuff but not seen it in action by him personally. I’m very interested in learning it. I’ve actually looked into his school and am considering taking it. The problem is he makes his methods so hard to learn about 😂

What are the 3 stages of "p. event"? I've been googling and not finding anything. Does "p." stand for punishment?
@@l26wangsorry. I only heard about it, I don't know enough about it. there are very different opinions about this. I really don't use this and i dont intend to do something that I don't know 100% that fair and clear for the dog.
I'm very involved with rescue dogs, shelter dogs. I have 7 of my own. I never see Ivan working or talking about these concepts with these types of dogs. Any idea David?
@chinnookk9 regarding the part about not feeding dog before competition, it has reason for it. Dog can eat a lot then go without food for the next few days. It's predator way of life. Eat as much as your belly capacity when you successfully hunt, and not risk before with extra hunt/game when you half full. Similar concept is for dog before competition. You don't train hard the days before the trail and risk injury. Switch on on the trial and take the risk when the dog is there to hunt/perform to earn it meals.
There is denying Ivan achievement and skill. However, just like human sport, there is no such thing as invincible method when you're dealing an animal with different kind of natural instinct/habit. Ivan method wired the dog reward to the play with handler as its center of universe. Great idea. Does mean nobody else had never won competitions after his triumph with his specific dogs. Some dogs would be slightly different.
I'd agree that I dont think one way is inherently better than the other. I think training for food is unbelievably powerful and there is plenty of ways to do it that dont involve "starving" your dog. That said, I think that the idea of using play in your training from a competition standpoint is really neat too.
It’s about the dogs emotions.
Definitely a big part of it
!!!
:)
I had to stop the video. I had no idea that playing with a dog on their terms was a special method. Feeling all superior right now. (JK)
Lol
Speaking of games, do you have a resource on how to teach a dog an air tight emergency stop while chasing a ball, without killing the ball drive? I feel like this is the goal when it comes to impulse control for me and this skill will translate to everything chasing-related
You won’t kill ball drive. That’s built into them. That said, practice commands around those triggers and hold the dog to that standard. Start with 1. Put dog in down, throw ball, punish for breaking down. Move to 2. Throw ball, let dog chase, five recall when chasing and punish for non compliance of the command. The dog will know the consequence is for non compliance not for chasing the ball.
@MiracleK9Training thank you!!! I'm at part 1 currently, never had to punish for this one yet cause it's relatively easy and we built it up with other toys. Part 2 tho I can see will be a challenge. Will try tho. Would you say long leash or e collar?
@MiracleK9Training do you have an online consult type setup for people abroad?
@@miaow4558 sure do! Email me at david@miraclek9training.com
@@miaow4558 depends on how you’ve trained your dog and the foundations of your commands. I use an ecollar.
