However, Voltsy apparently didn't notice it, which is understandable, since there is hardly any difference (the colours are slightly different) and he might have overlooked the star at 0:25. So he killed the shiny by using leaf blade.
the problem with soft reseting for shinies is that people get into the grind of reseting instantly, then their reflexes tell them to soft reset even when its shiny. that's why if I were to shiny hunt, only SOS and masuda method for me.
I've soft reset for shinies before (because I had to since they were Legendaries) and I always make sure to wait and look before soft resetting. If you do that, you won't soft reset over the shiny.
Please don't do sos chain. In my opinion it's the most boring, tiring, and annoying way to find shinies. On number 3 you dragged it out for 6 extra encounters before the shiny, this could've easily been avoided by just having 1-2 before hand and number 5 and 4 are the same thing.

Zuku Uzu It's a pretty useful method of soft resetting, especially in Ultra Sun/Moon when you're trying to get shiny legendaries. You hold down the left, right, and start button to do it.
