I keep thinking that too, it's painful to know how "cheap" concerts used to be. I paid roughly _20-25 in 2008 for GA and made it to the barricade. In 2024 I paid $350 for "front row" nosebleeds 🤦♀️
I saw them in 2006ish for $70 but I was literally in front, I couldn't see individual hair strands. My nosebleed seats this time arpund were $100 each 😭 insanity.
The Cure went to war against Ticketmaster and made them issue refunds for overpriced tickets and canceled scalper tickets. That's what artists should do, set a reasonable price and opt out of the dynamic prices.
They broke up to NOT become this way They made songs against it And talked against such things and r so different Yet now look at them Not fully their fault but fuck does it come off wrong
I wish they would stop. They're my favorite American band. I finally got to see them two years ago, and I am content. I'd rather see them release a great new song or remakes every few years like some of my other favorite artists do, especially 2000s Jpop artists.
Obviously people do it for profit but some even do it to pay for their tickets to that same concert as well as for their trip to go see them. We blame the big companies when it’s also the smaller guys trying to take a cut as well. It’s all F’d up.
I used to not understand at all when people don't want their favourite band to become really big and popular having mcr as my favourite band during long live era is kind of making me understand
They've been my favorite band for like 20 years and I am absolutely appalled by this. I can't afford these prices. Not to mention the nearest concert is six hours away. Definitely can't afford that in this economy.
It's Ticketmaster's "dynamic pricing", however the artists can opt out of it and set a fixed rate for ticket resales. For example last year The Cure came to Montreal, tickets were 130 for the 100's, shirts were 30$, and ticket resales were locked to the value of the original purchase. Artists saying "it's all management" are full of shit.
As an aside I recently saw an article titled something like "I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, but I went to the Era's tour and this is what I learned..." ... to me it just feels gross that some rich journalist (or one with connections) gets to go to write about an event rather than a die hard fan.
Thank you for this comment. Just made a similar comment on another post. The bands/performers/singers are all very well aware of what the prices are as they receive a percentage of the sales. 🙏
@@evat514 ikr, I really hate when they cop out saying "it's management" or "it's the record company" ... they can straight up just refuse to play, it's all in the artists power.
@@codingtranquility It's in the artists power if they're a big band with a lot of leverage like The Cure, a huge band who's been in the game for a long time. MCR is huge...but they're getting back in the game, they may or may not have that kind of leverage. Management companies could have said to them, "well you're a huge risk right now because we don't know what kinds of crowds a stadium tour will pull in, so if you're gonna sign with us, we want to do dynamic pricing". -I may be wrong, but I'd like to think MCR wouldn't purposefully screw over their fans, they've never been those kinds of people.
@@codingtranquility That is not really a big deal. That has been done forever. It isn't a journalist in every city. Her tour played stadiums that were all 60,000 to 90,000 seats. She kept adding dates because of the demand. The tour ended up being twice the number of dates originally set. She didn't want to be on tour twice as long as she is. Also she DID NOT use dynamic pricing. In the U.S. the worst seats were $49.00. That is cheap for a concert over 3 hours.
I'm currently in college studying music production, and we had to take a course in marketing / artist career development last term. Unfortunately the reason show tickets are so expensive nowadays is because ARTISTS MAKE NO MONEY THROUGH THE ACTUAL SALE OF THE MUSIC ANYMORE. Back in the 80s through to the 2000s, people would have to buy the album which is where a majority of artists' profits came from, which helped keep ticket prices low. The creation of Napster and the advent of digital streaming now means that the only way to make money as a musician is through live shows and merch, and even so for smaller artists it is extremely hard to justify touring due to hotel prices and demand possibly not even being there. Of course, scalpers upselling tickets for thousands is abhorrent (frankly I don't know why everyone does what Pearl Jam did and cap resale for the value the ticket was originally purchased at), but this is the direct result of music being accessible at a moment's notice. Physical media may have their followers, but the average person is not willing to spend money on a CD or vinyl anymore - because why would you pay when Spotify has it for free?
You’re neglecting another key part: Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster has a monopoly on ticket sales as they have agreements with all the major venues. They make money by charging fees, and that’s why the price is at least double the original value.
I resold one concert ticket cos my friend who was supposed to go suddenly couldn't, and I felt bad marking mine up from like $70 to $90 to recoup some of the fees. Idk how people sleep at night marking up tickets as much as they do!
bro ,lol ticket master/live nation take half the money for ticket sales ,artist don't get half that money so u being mislead,i know artist in this industry they told me thats what happens, ticketmaster changes $200 or more and artist is lucky to get $100 of it 😂
@@questionmark3666 both of these things are true... no money is made on physical or digital music sales, and artists must rely on live shows and merchandise to make their money. ticketmaster/livenation's monopoly means that for these artists to see any profit at all the ticket prices must be astronomical to counteract ticketmaster's overhead.
Every economist I’ve seen talk about ticketmaster/livenation has called them a monopoly, the attorney general launched an investigation into them, it’s sketchy as hell
honestly, im not suprised about all of this. when i first heard they were going on another tour i immediately thought ''im not going to this'' because i knew the tickets were going to be a gazillion dollars, and for half of the price of these tickets i could get some tickets to next years sound and fury AND book a plane AND book a hotel
It's hard for me because being a new fan who got into them after foundations of decay release, I absolutely HAVE to go because like, I've never seen them before and there's a relatively big chance they'll never really be very active like most bands are, meaning this might be one of the only chances I get to see them. But at the same time, seeing all this happen is making me realise there's a very real chance I won't actually get to see them when they announce Europe tour (they absolutely will, they're way too big not to, and they apparently are also very greedy, meaning they absolutely won't let that chance to easily make the amount of money that an average person makes in a life time go). Like I'm literally just a high school girl with no job and €9 sitting in my bank account, how the hell am I ever supposed to get €800 pit tickets to an MCR show It's hard for me to accept, and I know myself, I will often pay for VERY overpriced things if I really want them and I know or think that it's an exclusive or rare thing, like exclusive band merch or a tour by a band that is as inactive as MCR (and Frank's comment literally saying "You have no idea what you're in store for, this is a once in a lifetime experience definitely aren't helping with that lmao) even fully aware of the fact that I'm getting scammed and the thing I'm buying should be sold for AT LEAST half of what it is Edit: oh damn I didn't realize how long this comment ended up being, sorry for rant lol
@Slug-lov3er23 Frank's comment is simply justification for selling out. They're doing TBP, which they have already done, minus one track so they can change up the concept. It's not that new, so it's hardly a "once in a life time experience", especially considering this is not their comeback tour lmao, I saw them March last year. My heart goes out to people in your position. I've seen them live 4 times and in their prime, back when they weren't greedy little capitalists. So I can justify refusing to go and not feel like I've missed out. If you must go, I'd suggest start saving now. This wont be their last tour.
@ 85 drummer dude, both things can be true at once. but realistically, who is the market for or can afford tickets at such an exorbitant price besides the uber wealthy or dumb influencers living jerry-rig-it rich for content?
@@mina_loi both can’t be true at once. Why would a band tour specifically for rich people who aren’t huge fans? It’s promoters, ticketing agents and bands getting greedy. Do you think their management were like “hey let’s just put on a show for rich people and people who aren’t our fans”
I hate surge pricing! I had to wait for over an hour after my event to be able to order a ride home. $20 to get there $120 to get home…. WHAT! that seems so unsafe as a cab company for people travelling late at night.
Yeah, well if you’re talking about Uber they also have a bunch of SA allegations that they’ve brushed off too, so something tells me they don’t particularly care that much about their customers safety…
I saw lady gaga a couple years ago and my friend and I tried for two hours to get an Uber ride (which cost about $120-200 depending) and kept getting rejected! I ended up having to call my mom to come get us at 1am. Never again lol I'll just pay for parking!
I'm not sure about your local area, but pro-tip: don't book an uber. Call the cab call centre and get a direct quote and book there and then. Taxi's generally don't price gauge, that's an uber thing, and even if they do try to price gauge, you've already got the quote so they have to honor that.
Also i really really don't like that bands pretend this doesn't happen too. I don't need a fake and ass kissing press release apology but acknowledging that fans DO ACTUALLY pay this much and that half of their fans arent there because we just can't even begin to afford it, would be nice.
Agreed. I'd have far more respect for the artists that opt-in for dynamic pricing if they just admitted they're capitalising on the situation, instead of "wah wah we had no choice, blame LN or our record label, soz about it"
Oh man I saw mcr so many times on purpose in the mid 2000s.. like I mentioned once here...grew up in San diego so every band would play in San diego then we drive an hour to Anaheim to see them then we drive 2 hours to los Angeles to see them. But in mid 2000s it was 30 bucks to see mcr with taken back Sunday and afi
Hot take also. Mcr is overrated as much as I love them. Danger days is ok. Black parade singles are bangers but feels meh. First 2 are perfect. I know these new gen z emos are appaled but you had to be there...derp
I’ve seen them a few times now, and the most expensive was aftershock for a 2 day pass… never paid close to $500 😂 heeeeeeeell no, I’ll just keep the memory replaying in my head
I got tickets for $80. When I went in, there were $6000 people ahead of me. With that in mind, I don’t understand how dynamic pricing could have been happening. How did I get the regular price while the demand was huge? The high pricing seemed to be tickets being scalped immediately, which is a separate issue.
I got original Tickets directly from ticketmaster not resale and they literally changed from $200 to $350 right as I was about to check out Dynamic prices suck
6,000 ahead of you is actually pretty good. When i went in the queue for Metlife there was 19,000 ahead of me and I just barely got base price tickets :') which were $209 each very far away from the stage in the bowl. Even nosebleeds were in the hundreds by then.
@@OneSmallJellyfish and they were not resale? It just felt like there were a lot of people when I got in and I don't see how there was not price surging going on while I was buying tickets.
Because the price is based on the current demand. 6,000 people ahead of you for a stadium show is pretty low. Add an extra 0 to that and your ticket would have been priced a lot higher.
I love MCR, but they're definitely milking their fans. The standard tickets prices are insane even before the resale value and whatever other ticketmaster shenanigans. It's sad. I wouldn't even want to go see a rock band in a stadium setting so I had no plans on going anyway, but it sucks for the ones that actually do want to go.
Pretty sure at one point when I was younger every Ticketmaster ticket was 22.50 or something like that. Call me a boomer but F all this nonsense. RAAAAHHHHHHH
In October of 2022 I saw them live. The tickets (bought in Jan 2020) were $110 each AFTER fees. Pretty good seats too, all for less than $250 after tax. These prices are crazy, and I'm so glad that I was able to do so.
I spent almost 700 to see Fall Out Boy in Milwaukee. I hated seeing the money go, but I tried to rationalize its a gift and it’s a tour giving Hot Mulligan great exposure. I think I still have buyer’s remorse.
@@PetiteChevalAmie I'd guess the venue. My city is a popular tour stop and we don't have a single ticketmaster venue so tickets stay fairly cheap. The most expensive ones I've seen were for Metallica but even those were affordable.
@@tylertrego1276 Lol as someone with a metallica chest tattoo, fuck those guys. I refused to pay $500 for the shit seats where the audio is extremely echo-y. My friends paid $1,600 for two tickets :|
Fun tip: do NOT go to arena/stadium tours!!!! No matter what, those nosebleeds are $130 min and it's not worth it being in those seats. Check for centers or pavilions instead bc they're more likely to have lawn seats that you can get for $25. Around March, livenation has a ton of $25 flat lawn seats and started lawn passes. Sure, its not as fun as being IN the crowd but its a near kind of fun imo. I saw A7X & Ghost for $55 total last summer while I happily smoked my blunt in the back. Idk how anyone can get floor seats, pay for parking, buy merch AND alcohol at these events lmfao
Presale helps. I got a floor seat for Depeche Mode for ~$200 and I got a shirt for $45-50 dollars. Still expensive, but not as expensive as most of the floor seats ($600+).
Yeah this shit can be worked around, the cure did a stadium tour a couple years back and ga tix were like forty bucks. Hell I’m seeing napalm death and the Melvin’s for 30 bucks this June, but pearl jam at the same venue as the cure was 10K for ga lmao, clearly the bands can be doing something
I JUST GOT INTO MCR THIS YEAR, FELT LUCKY TO SEE IT HAVE A CONCERT IN A CITY NEAR MINE AFTER MY BDAY AND *NOW* I SEE THIS? GOOD THINGS NEVER LAST FR 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
LITERALLY SAME??? i got into them 2 days before the tour was announced and one of the shows is ON MY BDAY in a city like a few hours away. immediately texted my (older and fellow mcr fanboy) brother and he showed me the prices 😭😭😭😭
I am one of those people who would pay outrageous amounts of money to do something I love. It comes to a point though. All of these recent revival shows are beyond that point. There is something to be said when even die-hards, and people who are well off can't afford these things.
Next Gerard will be asking girls to show him their tits for a backstage pass. /s But seriously, it's sooo gutting to see them becoming the opposite of what they used to stand for.
What I suspect is the artists have an exclusive deal to go with Livenation and Livenation likely has control over pricing in their contracts. And the artists get little say once they sign over their rights to negotiate tours etc. So I’m sure the artist could just not use Livenation but they also probably can’t book the same places without them due to exclusivity clauses etc.
They need to make a cap on these ticket's like they shouldn't be able to be resold for more than double the price this is insane and has been for a while glad people are finally seeing this shit
I was going to take myself and my fiance to the one in Florida.... safe to say that's not happening unless the tickets drop SIGNIFICANTLY in the next couple months. (Fun fact: I actually proposed at a Green Day concert back in August.)
Back in the late 90s i saw Bad Religion, Fenix Tx, and Blink 182 at the MGM Garden Arena, it was $25. There are not many events worth $500/person, and punk concerts arent it.
90's was different because the main source of income for bands was the music, and the tours were promotion so more people would buy their albums. Now, with Spotify paying so goddamn little, the music being streamed and listened to is barely a source of income, and it has to come from tours, instead of the other way around
It is completely up to the artist whether or not they choose dynamic pricing. Most artists choose dynamic pricing. Taylor Swift explicitly said No to it. The Chairman and CEO of AEG Presents said that during an interview about ticket pricing these days. Tickets prices started at $49.00 (obviously not great seats) to under $1000. The V.I.P. tickets weren't even $1000. Ticketmaster doubles the price of tickets with their fees. AEG/LiveNation requires artists to sign an exclusivity deal if they want to tour stadiums and arenas. That way they make sure big artists can't play small venues on tour so fans could get tickets thru places like SeatGeek. Ticketmaster testified in front of Congress last year about their fees, being a monopoly(even though Congress allowed them to do it in the first place), the queue and bot issues. That got slammed bigtime. I believe Congress gave them a timeline to fix all of the issues they discussed. They told Ticketmaster they will be called back to see if the changes Ticketmaster made were enough. A smaller but still sizeable ticket seller testified against Ticketmaster also. I think/hope things change in the future!🙏
I got tickets for a friend and myself, totaling about $750 for pit, YES I did buy them because I love MCR, however I still feel bad about the price even prior to seeing the resale costs, I go to a lot of local shows and I’m so used to paying $5-15 for tickets and it really sucks that larger bands have turned ticket prices into a monopoly, honestly I understand it’s not as simple as “lower the prices” or simply preventing resale but it doesn’t make the situation any better :(
This is insanity. I'm so glad I saw them in Berlin in 2022, good for me because one time in life's been a must. Dynamic pricing is not a thing here (yet? 😱) and I really hope it stays that way. So sad for fans who can't afford it. And tbh even if fans could afford it, they shouldn't. Especially not in times like these. Don't support this madness - even if it's your favourite band.
Whenever I see prices like this for these stadium shows, I always think “I could go to a lot of Hardcore shows for the price of this one show”. But yeah, I hate how predatory scalpers get for this stuff. There needs to be a cap on how much over face value you can sell a ticket for since the only people it benefits are the landlords of the music industry.
If you grow up in a (local) scene and really appreciate intimate shows, prices like these wouldn't even matter. These prices/hype for these bands isn't worth it after seeing them in like a 100/200 room venue. These concerts are not for you, they are for normies.
I'm not spending that much money on a concert. I've wanted to attend an MCR concert for over a decade but if they don't opt out of dynamic pricing for any future European tours I won't go. I love their music, but I'm also working class, I hate capitalism and Ticketmaster.
its crazy to use dynamic pricing while also allowing people to purchase your tix right out of your cart. like i get having a limit on your purchase time, but I was literally clicking add to cart then checkout and they were sold. ALSO I tried selling my tix to a sold out show via ticketmaster & they literally would not let me price it at face value, I HAD to price it WAY below so how tf are these scalpers doing this constantly?🤔
It isn’t even dynamic ticketing systems in my opinion. When I was on there getting tickets their prices weren’t that bad, you go back now and all you see are outrageous prices thanks to scalpers who don’t even care. I got in about 5 minutes after the tickets went online and there was already resale tickets for sale. We need to petition the government to get rid of scalpers and make it so that these sites are the ones who will enforce it. They need to put a cap on how much scalpers can make per ticket and the second that a ticket passes the threshold it’s immediately removed and their account is banned based on either IP address or MAC address of their computer. The government doesn’t care because they helped create it. Also I saw that you showed a screenshot of 83 to 800. When I was in waiting it stated tickets were between 93 and 600 so that’s interesting that they can even be different from what we all see.
When it's cheaper to go to Europe and go to a show there than in your hometown, there's a problem. The only way big artists will go against Ticketmaster/Live Nation is when they play in an entirely empty stadium. Not because nobody bought them, but the bots bought all the tickets for themselves.
As a lifelong fan, it's so sentimental to me to see them, it's the first tour that I actually could, and if I HAD that money I would. I accepted that it's the experience not the expense and I was willing to pay quite a bit, it's the reality...But I feel heartbroken about it, just in general honestly. At this point I don't care if it's the artists fault, I don't care if it's Ticketmaster I don't care if it's just the way it is now. I really don't. I was willing to sacrifice the money anyway. But this is just sad. Everything is sad.
I can’t get behind pit being $800😳 it’s a ticket most wait in line for all day, just to get a decent spot to stand in. To charge that amount is absolutely insane 🙄!
I'm thinking they got their kids' college funds to start putting money into or something along those lines. It's hard to remember these aren't young dudes from Jersey with 3 dollars and 7 cents between them anymore, and are perfectly content with sleeping in a van piled onto each other. They're middle aged men now with millions in the bank and wives and kids who have gotten used to living in mansions.
Then, to be fair, the true supporters shouldn’t want to go . The guys are no longer doing it for the love of the craft, it’s now a job and every aspect of the show (as we are clearly seeing) will reflect that. I am no MCR fan and clicked on this video more to see what has happened as this is not the first video speaking on this topic but I see a lot of comments shielding the band from responsibility and I don’t think that’s right. They know exactly what the prices are as they get a percentage of the sales. 🙏
I lucked out and got nose bleed tickets for 120 CAD a piece and this will be my first time seeing MCR so I am happy to live off of dollar store snacks for the rest of the next two years to make this trip from BC to Seattle happen lmao
MCR is easily my favourite band of all time! I don't love any band enough to pay more than 80$ for a ticket. LMFAO This is the nature of the corporate beast. You can feel free to call it cope, but Live Nation/Ticket Master IS a devout Monopoly here in the US. There isn't actually any telling them no if you want to book a major tour. But I say the problem is in fact the solution! The answer is exactly what you said. Support - Your - Local - Scene! The internet has made it so these major corporations are a genuinely horrid idea to sign with, and they are NOT needed anymore. With all the truth exposing Hollywood for what it is, who would even bother anymore? Nobody with a soul worth bartering, that's for sure. The problem will eradicate itself and the era of DIY is finally upon us! Keep on Rockin', Dan! And keep tellin' it like it is! 🤟
green day aren't real haha just kidding they are i think i am just kidding stop shut up im only kidding why don't you believe me i said i was kidding stop no it was just a joke plesse stop no ypou're scaring me no stop please i was joking
For most people that is unachievable though. Not everybody has a decent paying job or even A job for that matter, let alone able to afford the travel and accomodation costs. It's bs.
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Mr. Frampton!!!! My dad says he puts some money every month in a bank account for me to use for college or a rock concert
the bit where you pointed out that local shows were hella cheaper made me smash that like button with gusto. ngl whenever i see people complain about concert prices in general these days, i'm like, yeah man i agree it sucks but theres still all kinds of musical shit to go see, like i've literally spent more on a single beer than some shows where I had the time of my life 😂😭
@8:23 The "gauge" of your passion for THIS band is measured by your ear gauge size. Simply take your ear gauge size in millimeters, add a zero, and subtract that from the ticket price. If your holes are big enough, you get in for free.
China had a similar problem years back and it was solved by binding tickets to the ID cards. If you buy a ticket it's simply not possible to resell (unless the person who buys it looks like you and can use your ID card) because you cannot change the ID number binded to the ticket. If you don't want it anymore you only can get a refund from the platform (we don't have ticketmaster here, just different local platforms like xiudong or damai) and they will sell it to another person for the same price you bought it.
im devastated by this, i only got tickets because i recently inherited a little bit of money. i was living paycheck to paycheck trying to save any penny i could but this genuinely feels like an opportunity i couldnt pass up. im not proud of spending 600+ on floor seats and i am really disappointed by the bands lack of action to the outrage. i keep trying to tell myself money comes back and its gonna be worth it, but it is really unfair. my love for this band runs deep and i can only imagine the pain of the fans that arent able to attend because of this.
My biggest flex is getting my Chicago tickets for 70$ each. It was the most stressful purchase of my life. But I'm so happy that this conversation has led to a discussion about supporting the local music scene. If you live by any major city, you just gotta find it.
Huge mcr fan, I saw them at WWWY in 2022 and it was honestly the most underwhelming set I saw that entire day. I know it’s way easier said then done but If you truly gave a shit about your fans you’d figure it out so they don’t get absolutely screwed.
I saw them this year and I had a great time, but I do agree. FOB’s set knocked it out of the park with their theatrics and did great, and MCR’s set felt so underwhelming after. I absolutely love them, but these recent years haven’t been amazing
@@blissfullydead I was there too!!! I was literally shaking with excitement to see mcr, but after fall out boys set it just felt so bland. I feel bad saying it considering they’re one of my favorite bands but their set was pretty plain except for Gerard saying cool shit and the having visuals of spiders on the screen I guess.
As a huge MCR fan, this sucks, because I’ve wanted to go for years and I’ve never been old enough, I finally am, and they finally tour again, and it happens to be at a time when my family is in a bad financial spot of all times. Not sure if I’ll ever get to see my favorite band if the prices are gonna be like this.
As someone who lives in South Africa and going on holiday to US at the same date as the Seattle show, my parents bought me tickets a few minutes after they went on sale
I've been an MCR fan for 20 years. I saw them a few times during the Black Parade tour. At Madison Square Garden, we paid like $60 for the absolute farthest seats from the stage (because we waited too long to get tickets). Why are re-sellers allowed to sell on ticketmaster? And at such a huge price jump? We used to be able to only buy valid tickets at the set price. A-hole re-sellers bought a bunch of seats but sold them on different websites. I LOVE them but I would never be able to justify paying these prices.
i.... somehow got my tickets in the nosebleeds for 92 bucks each.... those same tickets are going for near 1000. while i am baffled by the prices.... i am happy to have my tickets, i've been a fan for 18 years and i've never seen them live before. i'm sorry y'all, i can only hope they're forced to lower prices the closer to the dates we get.
i got tickets for less than $200 2 years ago, and it was close to the stage in NY lol. just give it a couple of months till the hype dies down, I also saw Blink 182 with Pierce The Veil this year for a decent price as well. i think resellers just write whatever prices they want right now for any sucker dumb enough to buy them and get more realistic once it's close to the dates
So glad I saw them at WWWY this year! Was gonna go see then again once I got into the queue and were able to buy tickets I immediately left absolutely no way I was gonna pay $80 - $150 for nosebleeds at the back of the stadium.
This is what happens when a giant mega corporation destroys their competition. We can only buy tickets from Ticketmaster - literally. They set whatever price they want. Who is to offer a better price?
It’s been 14 years since Ticketmaster & Live Nation merged. They are the same people so they work together to monopolize ticket prices. It’s been going on for 30+ years. Boycott all of it.
The closest venue playing near me is almost 4 hours away, and the cheapest tickets are 300 dollars which I physically cannot afford. I love MCR so much, but I will almost definitely not be going to this concert. Personally, I rather support my local indie artists who have actually enjoyable shows for a cheaper price.
I saw them in prague in 2022, I think I paid about 45 ish dollars when I do the conversion. I know it's a completely different country but these recent prices are crazy
Sad I’ll never be able to see Blink lol because I don’t feel it’s justified to spend that much on concert tickets. Should have gotten into them during warped OG.
obviously i don't work in $ but for me i think £80 is taking the piss unless maybe a double headline with 2 -3 support. im off to see Wonk Unit saturday Door price under £15 3 bands on the bill thats like the good old days lol
I remember going to their secret show the night before The Black Parade was set to be released at the Vintage Vinyl in NJ, where they were from. I was 14 years old and it cost $50 for two tickets AND we went to the meet and greet after. This was during their Bullets era fame (just before they hit the highest point of their fame) . I hate to see it.
My rule is even if I can afford it, I won't pay more than what a band is worth to me. When I saw Aborted tix for $100, I laughed and told my buddy I wasn't going. He agreed. 🤷🏾♀️
Holy crap, I'm glad I'm old. I got to see so many concerts from my teens into my early 30's, which is when prices started getting out of hand. I'm talking 75+ concerts, because tickets were like $10-25ish for bands and artists I loved. I got to see most of my favorites, like NIN, Metallica, Bryan Adams, Green Day, Def Leppard, Tori Amos, Dokken, Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Van Halen, etc... I'd even go to shows of bands I thought were just ok-ish, because it was cheap, so why not? (I'm looking at you, Winger and Poison). I would hate to be a kid now, knowing I'd never be able to afford seeing my favorite bands live.
Ticket master ain't the only one that does this. Theyre just the ones that have a monopoly in the market theyre specialised in, but that doesn't make it the only market in the economy that these pricing ethics are employed
I honestly feel like the pricing is fair. Yes it's expensive, it's a massive stadium. Operational cost is huge, and I bet they will have quite the production to go with it. Surge pricing it a normal thing nowadays and if it turns out nobody is buying the ridiculously inflated tickets, prices will come down...
i've got a chill that only comments warm
Dynamic pricing is disgusting.
Bringing the heat 🔥
Now that I’m here- you’re sweating! Lol

Its upsetting and unfortunate
Remember the interview where Kurt Cobain was appalled and disgusted Madonna was charging $50 for tickets? Lol if he could only see things now
He would have a heart attack over these prices😭
I think about this all the time and get very sad
i literally thought about this IMMEDIATELY when i first checked the prices for these lmfao

"When I was a young boy my father couldn't afford to take me to the Black Parade" is gold. Also incredibly real.
Wild to me that I saw MCR twice in 2011 for $25 a piece..
I definitely believe it
Social Media age blew up MCR lore.. I saw em open for blink in like 2011 for 50 bucks
I keep thinking that too, it's painful to know how "cheap" concerts used to be. I paid roughly _20-25 in 2008 for GA and made it to the barricade. In 2024 I paid $350 for "front row" nosebleeds 🤦♀️

I hope you have fun, regardless
I saw them in 2006ish for $70 but I was literally in front, I couldn't see individual hair strands. My nosebleed seats this time arpund were $100 each 😭 insanity.
The Cure went to war against Ticketmaster and made them issue refunds for overpriced tickets and canceled scalper tickets. That's what artists should do, set a reasonable price and opt out of the dynamic prices.
I'M OKAY (I'M NOT OKAY)
Hahahaha
Best comment (i like ruining things by commenting)
They broke up to NOT become this way
They made songs against it
And talked against such things and r so different
Yet now look at them
Not fully their fault but fuck does it come off wrong
damn
I wish they would stop. They're my favorite American band. I finally got to see them two years ago, and I am content. I'd rather see them release a great new song or remakes every few years like some of my other favorite artists do, especially 2000s Jpop artists.
misfits and Rage playing Coachella tells everything we need to know about some of these bands. Their record labels own them.

@@dylpykldrums LOL wait do you mean Rage for the Machine? the fizer spokesband? 🤣
yeah tickets were 60 bucks and then 30 minutes later the cheapest tickets were like 600 bucks i hate the modern concert system
Obviously people do it for profit but some even do it to pay for their tickets to that same concert as well as for their trip to go see them. We blame the big companies when it’s also the smaller guys trying to take a cut as well. It’s all F’d up.
I used to not understand at all when people don't want their favourite band to become really big and popular
having mcr as my favourite band during long live era is kind of making me understand

They've been my favorite band for like 20 years and I am absolutely appalled by this. I can't afford these prices. Not to mention the nearest concert is six hours away. Definitely can't afford that in this economy.
@@billbombshiggy9254 literally every word you said SAME. 🥲
@@codingtranquility
That is not really a big deal.
Fellow music production student here and I can confirm😁

@@danframpt0n yeah and getting a bottle of water at some random pop punk bands show is like a dollar and not 10 dollars
Like I'm literally just a high school girl with no job and €9 sitting in my bank account, how the hell am I ever supposed to get €800 pit tickets to an MCR show
It's hard for me to accept, and I know myself, I will often pay for VERY overpriced things if I really want them and I know or think that it's an exclusive or rare thing, like exclusive band merch or a tour by a band that is as inactive as MCR (and Frank's comment literally saying "You have no idea what you're in store for, this is a once in a lifetime experience definitely aren't helping with that lmao) even fully aware of the fact that I'm getting scammed and the thing I'm buying should be sold for AT LEAST half of what it is
Edit: oh damn I didn't realize how long this comment ended up being, sorry for rant lol
When MCR did their UK tour back in the day, the tickets were £35. Fuck dynamic pricing, and fuck ticketmaster.

I hate surge pricing! I had to wait for over an hour after my event to be able to order a ride home. $20 to get there $120 to get home…. WHAT! that seems so unsafe as a cab company for people travelling late at night.
sounds so dangerous for real
Use a captcha that has something like "choose all frames with band members or albums from the band"
haha dude frrr
Also they played the warped tour every year between 2003 and 2007 so saw their 25 minutes sets also a shit load too

Even nosebleeds were in the hundreds by then.
i had 20k people ahead of me and the tickets i got were $220
@@OneSmallJellyfish and they were not resale?

I am one of those people who would pay outrageous amounts of money to do something I love. It comes to a point though. All of these recent revival shows are beyond that point. There is something to be said when even die-hards, and people who are well off can't afford these things.
I've over paid for tickets in the past too.
sad to see that they became what they criticized
Next Gerard will be asking girls to show him their tits for a backstage pass. /s
But seriously, it's sooo gutting to see them becoming the opposite of what they used to stand for.
THIS THIS THIS i don't understand why people aren't getting this. Livenation has a monopoly over the venues large enough to host MCR
They need to make a cap on these ticket's like they shouldn't be able to be resold for more than double the price this is insane and has been for a while glad people are finally seeing this shit
This is why I just don't go to concerts anymore. And I'm not stoked about MCR for opting into this dynamic pricing.
Some bands see it for what it is and don't opt in for it. Slipknot are coming here in March and their tickets are cheaper than lizzo lol.
I was going to take myself and my fiance to the one in Florida.... safe to say that's not happening unless the tickets drop SIGNIFICANTLY in the next couple months. (Fun fact: I actually proposed at a Green Day concert back in August.)
They will drop as the shows get closer. It happened for their 2022 tour and it’ll happen again.
i’ve loved MCR since i was 10, and im 15 now, i’ve been wanting to
go since then and im
so upset that me or my parents aren’t able to afford this
Back in the late 90s i saw Bad Religion, Fenix Tx, and Blink 182 at the MGM Garden Arena, it was $25.
Corporate greed running wild
Whenever I see prices like this for these stadium shows, I always think “I could go to a lot of Hardcore shows for the price of this one show”.
But yeah, I hate how predatory scalpers get for this stuff. There needs to be a cap on how much over face value you can sell a ticket for since the only people it benefits are the landlords of the music industry.
dude exactly
If you grow up in a (local) scene and really appreciate intimate shows, prices like these wouldn't even matter. These prices/hype for these bands isn't worth it after seeing them in like a 100/200 room venue. These concerts are not for you, they are for normies.
It's really not the least bit surprising that MCR is charging so fucking much. Kinda typical of mainstream bands these days😐
yep. u got that right
I'm not spending that much money on a concert.
Everything is sad.
it is reallllllyy awful to see how bad and unaffordable it has become for the fans these days :(
I can’t get behind pit being $800😳 it’s a ticket most wait in line for all day, just to get a decent spot to stand in.

LMFAO
This is the nature of the corporate beast. You can feel free to call it cope, but Live Nation/Ticket Master IS a devout Monopoly here in the US. There isn't actually any telling them no if you want to book a major tour.
But I say the problem is in fact the solution!

Now their fans actually have a reason to cut, cut prices.
lmao oof
Huge mcr fan, I saw them at WWWY in 2022 and it was honestly the most underwhelming set I saw that entire day. I know it’s way easier said then done but If you truly gave a shit about your fans you’d figure it out so they don’t get absolutely screwed.
i saw them this year and i feel this
I saw them this year and I had a great time, but I do agree.
Fuck u
I got two tickets for 500$ each in section E pretty close up front. I am not selling :/
My mum literally got 2 tickets for Nothing But Theives for 180 pounds, that was November last year, those price’s are outrageous
i.... somehow got my tickets in the nosebleeds for 92 bucks each.... those same tickets are going for near 1000. while i am baffled by the prices.... i am happy to have my tickets, i've been a fan for 18 years and i've never seen them live before. i'm sorry y'all, i can only hope they're forced to lower prices the closer to the dates we get.
Similar situation. Mine did cost a bit more for closer BUT I'm not missing my chance
We have to show them our outrage by closing our wallets if we keep giving in they'll never stop asking.
Didn't even bother looking because of how expensive it was last time, way far away in the back for $250.
Probably something to do with Eliza Bleu... AKA Eliza Cuts ;D or Eliza Morthland
i got tickets for less than $200 2 years ago, and it was close to the stage in NY lol. just give it a couple of months till the hype dies down, I also saw Blink 182 with Pierce The Veil this year for a decent price as well. i think resellers just write whatever prices they want right now for any sucker dumb enough to buy them and get more realistic once it's close to the dates
1:27 “My Capitalist Romance.”
💀
Glad I saw them in a small bar when bullets was new and at warped tour when 3 cheers came out. Idgaf about the black parade.
3:07 "I'm not that smart of a person...ALLS I know."
Yeah, that checks out. Lol
So glad I saw them at WWWY this year! Was gonna go see then again once I got into the queue and were able to buy tickets I immediately left absolutely no way I was gonna pay $80 - $150 for nosebleeds at the back of the stadium.
I'll bet Finn McCunty invented dynamic pricing.
Hhahahahaha
🤮
This is what happens when a giant mega corporation destroys their competition. We can only buy tickets from Ticketmaster - literally. They set whatever price they want. Who is to offer a better price?
$450+ for ONE SINGULAR TICKET is absolutely fucking INSANEEEEEEEEEE
I got a BTS ticket for less than that😭
It’s been 14 years since Ticketmaster & Live Nation merged. They are the same people so they work together to monopolize ticket prices. It’s been going on for 30+ years. Boycott all of it.
900 for two nosebleeds 😭😭
The closest venue playing near me is almost 4 hours away, and the cheapest tickets are 300 dollars which I physically cannot afford. I love MCR so much, but I will almost definitely not be going to this concert. Personally, I rather support my local indie artists who have actually enjoyable shows for a cheaper price.
I’m 32 years old and distraught I never saw My Chemical Romance. Especially not the Brixton Academy show back in the day with the funeral procession
I saw them in prague in 2022, I think I paid about 45 ish dollars when I do the conversion. I know it's a completely different country but these recent prices are crazy
"watch all my heros sell a car on tv. Break out the old guillotine"
Oh yeah you can resell them there for sure…. And that’s a reason why I think the algorithm has crazy prices to start. ridiculous cycle
i hate it here
Sad I’ll never be able to see Blink lol because I don’t feel it’s justified to spend that much on concert tickets. Should have gotten into them during warped OG.
obviously i don't work in $ but for me i think £80 is taking the piss unless maybe a double headline with 2 -3 support.
im off to see Wonk Unit saturday Door price under £15 3 bands on the bill thats like the good old days lol
i'm with ya on that lol
Bro I saw like estimates of the tickets (150$) and I saw a seat for 2k the next day
I remember going to their secret show the night before The Black Parade was set to be released at the Vintage Vinyl in NJ, where they were from.
