Always good to see you come back, Jrose. Been a fan for years and your videos bring me so much comfort. They're always something I can turn to for a little calm relaxation. Wishing the best, hope you're well!
You say that levelling up against Agatha isn't effective because you'd need to be very high to outspeed, but surely reducing the amount of Surfs it takes to defeat a Gengar would also make it much easier, reducing the amount of turns that they have to stay asleep
Jrose, thank you so much for your work. I can't wait for this month of vids. I'm a stay at home dad, and while your super busy, you also aren't. So these help my days so much

I've been looking forward to the Krabby run! I love your vids and was inspired to do my own run a while back, Krabby only with no HM mons. Thanks for all the content Jrose, keep being awesome
Last day at work today. Moving to New Zealand to be with my long distance gf of 2 years end of the month. I’ve had a horrible start to my work day but watching this while I struggle through the day is helpful on my mood. Keep up the good work man
I dunno about this one's ranking Like, I'm used to you playing more for consistency rather than just continuously resetting for luck. That's why you do the whole E4 in one go. And yet here, with Lorelei and Bruno as consistent as they were, you may as well have just been saving in front of Agatha and resetting that over and over again. Sure, as you say at 38:36, levelling up wouldn't really help until level 70-something, but with previous pokemon you have done that. That's how there's so many level 80 somethings on the board. That's how Pidgey hit level 90. Not to mention that outspeeding the first Gengar wasn't the only issue you were running into. As small of special increases that a level up would give you, they'll add up to less surfs needed to take down the Gengars and Haunter, which is then less worry over PP as well. Sorry that one of my only comments on this series is a criticism of this length, I love the videos, it's just the sheer amount of Agatha losses this time around felt more like an actual lottery than she normally is
It’s very strange how your videos are interesting. I just like listening to you talk for some reason, despite every video in this series being the same thing with slight variations. Something is just captivating about your narration.
I think Krabby should have been penalized a lot more in its tier placement for how much it struggled at various points, and it felt like you should have just levelled up more with it at the end instead of brute forcing getting lucky against Agatha. If it would have took Krabby until well into the 70s to get through Agatha with any more consistency like you claimed, then so be it, it would be a more accurate portrayal of how much it takes to get "consistent" with Krabby than banking on such low odds to actually win.
These runs are just for fun bro. Sometimes he just levels up & makes it more consistent and time accurate, sometimes he takes the lucky, inconsistent brute force strategy. In the end, the runs really mean nothing & purely entertainment, don’t take it so seriously.
Krabby can learn all of the required hm's (cut/surf/strength), so it's possible to literally beat the game with only krabby. It's a fun challenge for anyone to try, but I don't think it'd make for a great video because the strategy for the last half of the game is basically just level up. But maybe an optimized "what's the lowest level you can beat R/B with just a krabby" could be kinda interesting
Good video :) But, why not grind Krabby up for Agatha? You've done it with lots of pokemon in the past and you normally prioritise league consistancy over dumb luck. Seems like its ranking was a little high.
17:01 watch as JRose makes a blunder for the ages! Crabhammer is a move like Slash, which has a high crit ratio. So even though on paper it's a weaker and less accurate surf, in practice it has 180 Base Power for the cost of accuracy and not being affected by special badge boosts. Probably would've made an even dumber lottery of a fight but might've made it a lot faster!
Probably a lot less tbh when you ro normal power moves normally the 1/3 boost is actually worth it DPT since you make up a lot for the miss a bit,but this is double which is insane
I guess surf was better just because of accuracy, but crabhammer is a high crit rate move so you basically always crit. I guess it doesn't matter much though since you use body slam against everything not weak to water You would've one shot Aerodactyl though
Your runs of red/blue using one single Pokémon has given me my own inspiration to do a similar thing with black, where I’m currently playing the game using each Pokémon in the unova dex in a randomised order of runs. I’ve only just started and so far it’s really fun. (Although one big difference is I’m actually evolving the Pokémon, my mental state could probably not go through the game with nothing but a larvesta or sewaddle and a lot of the other pretty poor pre evolutions)
Jrose always gets a laugh out of me everytime I watch his videos. Bro just cracks the most random jokes at the most unexpected times. I hope he does more gen 3 videos
Oh my gosh I felt that Anime Krabby cry. I owned Season 1 on VHS as a kid. And Krabby vs Ash with a Stick probably one of my most watched moments. I loved that he thought he could take on a Magic Crab with a twig. 🤣
Oooooo I've been waiting for this!!!! If you're in the mood to make me in particular happy, I also think it would be fun to see a Trapinch solo run of Emerald. And if you wanna go to the later DS generations, Swirlix vs Ultra Moon would be really cool. I'm saying Swirlix completely randomly, I just think that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are the hardest games in the franchise, other than Challenge Mode Black 2 and White 2. Love the vid! Cooky cooky!
I just started the video, but I needed to leave a comment for that krabby out of 10 impersonation! That’s exactly how I remember krabby sounding in the anime! Also, these are always a treat to watch!
Good run! I didn't expect Krabby to be so swingy in battles. Thanks for the Pokémon Stadium reference at the end with Surf. Good memories with that game.
I wonder if you could have taught Mimic over Body Slam for Agatha? Then you'd have access to 9 badge boosts instead of just 3, and after Agatha is beaten with a more powerful surf, you could learn Strength for Lance/Champion. Strength is obviously less powerful (80 base power instead of 85), but since SD makes your attack insanely high anyways, it probably would still be enough to one-shot everything. The real question is whether 9 badge boosts would be enough of a boost to consistently take out Agatha's whole team with it, but I think it'd be worth a test! Great video, love all your content and keep up the great work!
Krabby is one of my favourites to tackle Gen 1 with, as it learns cut, strength and surf. So I can actually complete the game without catching anything and with a pokedex count of 1 at the end. I can't remember what 4th move I used, I think it was Ice Beam to get through Lance, then Mimic to get through the Rival battle at the end
Good morning, don't forget in just 2 weeks the Month of Jrose begins with a new video EVERY DAY!

Always good to see you come back, Jrose. Been a fan for years and your videos bring me so much comfort. They're always something I can turn to for a little calm relaxation. Wishing the best, hope you're well!
1:10 to be fair, Krabby isn't a hermit crab. Hermit crabs aren't even crustaceans technically.
So these help my days so much
That "Ride that Surf" at the end was very cathartic
So anyone else notice that the shade of orange on this run changes slightly at roughly 18:45 ? This also changes the green into blue. I don't think I've seen this happen in any previous run. :o
I've been looking forward to the Krabby run! I love your vids and was inspired to do my own run a while back, Krabby only with no HM mons. Other than Mew, Krabby (and Kingler) is the only mon to be able to learn Cut, Strength and Surf in 1st gen. One of my favourite playthroughs I've done! Thanks for all the content Jrose, keep being awesome
Perfect timing i just finished another full watchthrough of this series
Watching krabby sweep the champion's team was the most satisfying thing I've seen in this series so far!
I would literally pay a subscription fee for Jrose11 videos
Last day at work today. Moving to New Zealand to be with my long distance gf of 2 years end of the month. I’ve had a horrible start to my work day but watching this while I struggle through the day is helpful on my mood. Keep up the good work man
14:59 "Spearow's attack rose" :D
The Agatha Lottery is a scary thing to play with a Krabby. You're a brave man.
I dunno about this one's ranking
Like, I'm used to you playing more for consistency rather than just continuously resetting for luck.
Krabby learns Dig starting in Gen 2
Every time I open youtube and see you have a new video out, its a great day!!! I always look forward to all your content!!
Came here for the starter runs years, stayed for the hype moments and the pop offs that always bring a smile. Keep up the great work!
What a perfect time. Friday, working from home, nothing to to really do at work, just sat here doing my time.
Have a good morning and a good day, man!
@@2OP4YOU It's just a comment bro, why are you taking it so seriously? People are free to comment and critique things, it isn't so serious.
@@OmegaTyrant Butthurt much?
Krabby can learn all of the required hm's (cut/surf/strength), so it's possible to literally beat the game with only krabby. It's a fun challenge for anyone to try, but I don't think it'd make for a great video because the strategy for the last half of the game is basically just level up. But maybe an optimized "what's the lowest level you can beat R/B with just a krabby" could be kinda interesting
I often listen to them like a podcast/audiobook, so I'm looking forward to the Month of Jrose :D
Pokemon Scarlet&Rose :D
i always watch videos like these to wind down before bed, i'm always so happy to see a new one happen to pop up when i come to the channel
Good video :) But, why not grind Krabby up for Agatha? You've done it with lots of pokemon in the past and you normally prioritise league consistancy over dumb luck. Seems like its ranking was a little high.
Loved the "Ride that Surf" quote against Rhydon, just a little shot of Pokemon Stadium nostalgia
If you ended the battle, you would have kept wing attack permanently. If they swap on the mimic turn you would have to reset to keep your moves
Major blast from the past with that opening. My brother and I always loved the anime Krabby noise!
Yeah!! I was so sad when he got rid of Crabhammer. Poor Krabby got misrepresented
This run was SO interesting, it all seemed so backwards, but as always great vid! Looking forward to the month of Jrose!!
I guess surf was better just because of accuracy, but crabhammer is a high crit rate move so you basically always crit. I guess it doesn't matter much though since you use body slam against everything not weak to water
You would've one shot Aerodactyl though
Your runs of red/blue using one single Pokémon has given me my own inspiration to do a similar thing with black, where I’m currently playing the game using each Pokémon in the unova dex in a randomised order of runs. I’ve only just started and so far it’s really fun. (Although one big difference is I’m actually evolving the Pokémon, my mental state could probably not go through the game with nothing but a larvesta or sewaddle and a lot of the other pretty poor pre evolutions)
Have fun with Rufflet and Vullaby.
@@Bluecrimson217 the one I’m dreading most is munna, solely because the dark type exists
Probably doesn't matter for others. Like the one-stage evolution that only evolves at like 58
Can you revisit this particular run again at a higher level? I'd like to see how well Crabby would do against Agatha on a higher level.
It made me SO HAPPY hearing you do the Krabby cry from the anime. You absolute legend! 😂
Can’t wait for the month of JROSE!
Today's the day
I love jrose’s reactions when he’s relieved…good show old chap.
30 challenges in a month would be absolutely insane so im assuming some of the videos would be different. either way that sounds awesome as fuck
Jrose always gets a laugh out of me everytime I watch his videos. Bro just cracks the most random jokes at the most unexpected times.
I hope he does more gen 3 videos
All I could think about when u went to the league: ''your pain amuses me''
Your determination is impressive, got to say.
Oh my gosh I felt that Anime Krabby cry. I owned Season 1 on VHS as a kid. And Krabby vs Ash with a Stick probably one of my most watched moments. I loved that he thought he could take on a Magic Crab with a twig. 🤣
I get how tedious these runs are but I love them!! Respect how much work you put in to these!! Glad your back!!
Every hard Agatha fight: teaches mimic for hypnosis
Jrose: a simple spell but quite unbreakable
ngl I'd love to see a bonus episode seeing if Krabby Learning Dig Via TM is truly Gastly-ish tier.
Awh yeah Krabby run! I always love seeing your stuff as well, JRose.
