This is one of my favorite videos of all time. I had lost you and finally found your video again as I am embarking on redoing a mahogany wardrobe like yours but even more ornate and want to show off the details. I would like to send you a pic of blank slate so far and get your thoughts as to what I should do next.
Just found your UA-cam video. Very impressed with your painting skills. Watching an artist paint. Very impressed with your work. Thank you for sharing!
My God, that cabinet is GORGEOUS!! It looks heavy as hell too, you must be strong to move that thing all by yourself. What a BEAUTIFUL job you did painting it too! I LOVE IT!!! I also love your little stick animation and your little stick dogs too! Very CUTE! :D Thanks for your video.
What an amazing piece. The after if just simply stunning! What a beautiful job you did with it and tbh i totally loved it before! Now im playing with your technique of mixing black wax with the paint. Awesome idea! Ty for sharing ❤
Stunning piece of furniture!! You did a great job transforming it in to something beautiful!! I have some furniture that I was going to give away but no more I'm gonna transform it just like you did thanks for the idea of using chalk paint! No need to strip and sand !
Lina, put a description in English please, in the section below your videos. It's so fast on the video that one misses half of what's written on screen. Amazing shading work. Lovely.
Slow down the playback speed in the settings. Click on show more in the description. It will open the rest of the description to show she has it all there in English.
Beautiful shading using paint and wax. I love the Cross detail in the doors. The piece seems to be made to honour Jesus due to the cross on the doors. It beautifully reflects the culture of people valuing their faith.
If you are working with a white chalk painted piece, do you need to clear wax it before using the shading method you used here? I absolutely love how the shading turned out on your cabinet. I want to do a white cabinet with the black wax using your quick-fix technique for a light gray shading effect.
I love your videos. You are so natural and easy to watch as well as artistic. I've painted many pieces for people but haven't seen this technique and I'm so anxious to try it out to make those details pop! Thank you for sharing your techniques, Lina. I'm from Northern Ontario, Canada. Have a wonderful 2017.
Hi Lina, tried this technique on my Frenchy looking armoire, turned out really pretty, thank you. Did you finish your whole cabinet off with clear wax? I have a grey similar, using some shadowing with black wax as well. Thanks!
Hi Mark! I paint it all with the same paint! :D It depends on what paint you use, but if you chose one who adheres to almost every surface you can go on and paint all over! :D
Hi Lina, absolutely fabulous work. I'm inspired to paint an unpainted oak cabinet. Could you use Annie Sloan chalk paint and waxes to achieve the same effect? Would you let the shading mixed with the wax dry and then clear over the whole piece?
Hi! :) Thank you so much Susan!! I will try this technique with Annie Sloan's too, eventually, as soon as I find a piece fitting for this kind of shading :D I'm not sure if you need to wax it afterwards if you mix wax with the paint like this.. I didn't need to when I used Autentico, but I will find out for that video! :D
Hi Lina - you are really talented! I have a question about the shading: do you apply clear wax before shading with the dark wax? I find that if I apply dark wax without clear wax, it stains the chalk paint and is harder to work with.
I’m a little confused... you mentioned mixing wax with the paint but it looked like you were just using dark and light wax?? Would love to see the wax and paint mixed together technique. Beautiful work!
I don't know if Autentico is available in Chicago? But perhaps Annie Sloan's chalk paint is? Then you can go for that instead, white or very light grey, and black wax :)
How GORGEOUS!! -I’m late watching/commenting-(original post date)-but still...& what an awesome project!- ALWAYS SO IMPRESSED with -YOUR- GIFTED TALENT & ARTISTRY! THANK YOU so much for everything! Really enjoy your channel and love your little store & shop! …would love to visit in person, someday! Wishing you health, happiness & much continued success
Hi Lina, Your right this is the most gorgeous wardrobe I've ever seen!! You are flipin amazing how you do your shading. I've watched all your videos and love how you paint. It is a work of art. You are extremely talented. I'm working on a China cabinet right now and I painted it so many colors over the yrs. But now I'm doing it black, with sheepskin white over the black, distressing it ,then using the clear wax and brown wax to shade . It has 5 glass windows in it could I paint the glass so it looks all wood? I hated the glass thought it might look good. I guess I'll just try it and see. Lol TFS all your amazing talent. Hugs Debbie
Wow, thank you so much Debbie!!! :D This totally made my day! Hmm I don't know if the paint will stick to glass without a lacquer or something... :) // Lina
Lina's - Chalk paint, DIY, Recycle & Remake Well it worked out!!! I had to give it 4 coats of chalk paint . But it really looks like all one piece, and not glass. Now for sanding, waxing, I'm not gonna sand any where the glass is though.. This will be taking me some time. Hehe But so far I'm loving it. That's why I appreciate you so because of all the hard work it is to do a piece...I've watched alot of videos and have been redoing furniture for many yrs. But NO one can compare to your talent, you've given me so much inspiration. Thanks..
Hi Lina! You always amaze me! You are brilliant! I've watched this tutorial several times, yet I can't figure out what sort of "cloth" you are using to soften out the black wax! Is it cotton? Cuz, it seems like it's possibly a scrubby-pad, or something similar to that! Can you divulge your technique??😉Thanks again Lina!!
Hi Christina!! Wow, thank you so much!! :D :D It works just fine with any lint free cloth, I usually use torn sheets :) But I tried out a dishcloth the other day and that worked out fine too! :D
Hei Lina, Dette skapet ble vidunderlig! Bravo! Par spørsmål. Går det an å bruke voks på oljemaling? Hvor kjøper man voks, byggevarehus eller kunst utstyr butikk?
Thank you so much I just love your style!!! I and sometimes I don't get to read the whole sentence. I have been watching your Videos for two days. It has really inspired me to get back into it. I'm from Cullman AL by the way
Wow looks amazing. I love chalk paint. This is for sure hard work but it's worth. I am thinking to start painting my bed which wooden hand crafted similar dark colour to what your cabinet was. I will use Annie Sloan chalk paint Paris grey . Looking at the result of your cabinet I can't wait to start tomorrow.

Thank you Jane!! Hahaha, yes, it's pretty heavy actually... but it's more stubbornness than muscles that are lifting it! ;D

so pretty, you are so talented! I just love it
Thank you!!
Lina, do the metal drawer drawer pulls and metal cabinet handles require a special paint? Are you painting them with the same stuff?
Hi Mark! I paint it all with the same paint! :D It depends on what paint you use, but if you chose one who adheres to almost every surface you can go on and paint all over! :D

kkkass100 yes, it is easier to work with if ypu apply clear wax first :) but in this video I mixed paint with different waxes

OMG.... I love this... 😍😍😍😍
Thank you Juanita!! :D
This is GORGEOUS!
Hi where can i buy this paint
I have it in my shop :) Where are you from?
Hi Dorset UK
Is chalk paint durable?
It is :) But it also depends on what you compare it with? :)
You cannot see how & where the wax and the color from the box, together ? can be applied in the furniture
I mix the paint and the waxes to get different shadings :)
amazing wok Lina thanks fir these videos
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you!
Just bravo! Thanks you
Beautiful!!
Why didn't you do the handles separately? It would have stood out more.
The piece was so old that it wasn't possible to remove them... :)
Lovely work
Thank you so much!!
I'm curious about the paint if it's oil or latex based? I am afraid to try to mix the wax (which I think is an oil) into a paint that isn't oil based.
The paint is water based :)
un bello trabajo
Very good. Like it
