I saw these ads during Arknights EN's first year and thought AK was just one of those mobile game with fake/shitty ads. So yeah, refused to play until a friend of mine actually showed me what AK is all about.
When the community promotes AK better than Yostar themselves lol But seriously AK is a truly revolutionary gacha that has changed the market and has *inspired* (alchemy stars lmao) other games. I’m so glad one day I got bored and decided to download it
AK is not really revolutionary. Gameplay has been done in Millennium War Aigis Artsyle, characters and story theme reused from CEO's previous game Girls Frontline. Recruitment system also very similar to Girls Frontline gacha. Rate pull farming is average and has been done before, a lot. What AK did tho, is doing all those things well, and tap into urban fantasy theme which is very rare in gacha. Also their marketing in CN, JP are great.

The Darknights Memoir PV Ad that has cheerful music annoys me the most since it is already one of the best PVs of the game, and they decided to turn it from a dark and deep tale to some edgy random shit. The best solution I can think of is using the PVs themselves to tease the music, art and story, them let the players discover the gameplay themselves when they get intrigued enough to check out the game
@@HiImYii JP ads are just the animation PVs. Some of them will have the voice actors and actresses saying things to advertise the games. I'm sure it's because most of the Japanese people know what they're dealing with when they see these ads
Right? Whoever makes those cringe ads for arknights or whatever department takes care of that, they NEED to be fired. The ads are honestly doing more hard than good to the game, just putting the PVs like they did for the CoB event is one of the best ways to advertise the game.
I also got into the game because of the PV, I don’t like Gache games but once I got into it I fell in love with the story... lol. These ads are making me cry though.

Finally, to drive the point home that this wasn't even the full power a player can bring to the table (and because gacha ads are obligated to shill those SSRs for the whales), pull a SilverAsh, promote him to E2, and show him melt the entire stage.
I think it will looks a bit weird for old AK players, but for people who don't know or new to the game, that's a good idea, and showcasing Truesilver Slash would be really funny and satisfying 😂

It was the Code of Brawl ad that got me to finally download the game. The song was just so good I had to check it out. Been playing the game for more than a year now ^_^
Honestly, I have a feeling that Arknights Ads would get better if you take a guide to a certain stage and use it as ad material. That way people would think "wow this looks interesting plus the person making this ad is explaining it in great detail". Although I am not sure since I cannot speak for everyone
Going back watching this video makes me so happy the first ads i saw of AK was that one guy going "I do like my fox girls" or tf he said. Praise his soul that ad was a whole meme in itself

IMO the best way for advertising would be advertising the story with a little bit of gameplay. LIke the Code of Brawl ad, if it was less edgy, I think it could have worked.
I would've started playing AK much muuuuch earlier if I didn't get bombarded by that one ad showing a streamer saying "I don't do single pu-" and randomly getting a 6*. Yostar, I don't speak for the world but usually people like to see actual gameplay and not just the gacha system.
I've noticed these same ads before the game blew up globally. These ads kept me from playing the game but after they used the Speed of Light ad, I got a little bit interested. Only after a friend of mine asked me to listen to the OST with him, it was then after I started playing it.
I downloaded Arknights because I saw the CoB PV ad. Had I seen 5:11 back then, I wouldn't have downloaded the game and missed out on a really great game.
I saw one that had someone pull W, SURTR AND Another random 6 star all in one clip, followed by one getting Gintamo and I think melanthia. They used the same Bag pull animation that had like... 1 6 star in it.
I feel like they should either use the animated trailers they make for each event / new story chapter as ads ( Mostima's event one , Nian's , "end like this" , "last of me" both by Steve Aoki , "Untitled world" , ecc... ) , maybe mix them with some non-braindead gameplay to showcase the game in a simple and fun , non overwhelming way for new potential customers to get....or outright ask Arknights content creators / streamers to try developing something of their own's which also doesn't feel too complex and at the same time might want to make you download the game . As of now it truly feels as if almost every company which commissions an ad for their mobile game doesn't actually watch the finished product itself before giving its seal of approval , 99% of these ads feel so damn stupid and annoying , I swear .

I got into this game thanks to DJ Okawari (I listened to almost all of his works, and I got curious about this game when he released songs he wrote for Arknights advertisement)
No joke, I downloaded Arknights because I saw an ad for a blatantly fake "fusion" system and wanted to see just how terrible the game was. That was just over a year ago and it's been my main mobile game ever since.
Industry guy here. This is just standard practice in ads for mobile games. Arknights ads might be a bit lower quality than others but the ideas themselves are copy pasted between all mobile games. It's not HG's fault, this is just what the market responds to. PVs are great but scrolling Facebook and seeing a PV doesn't tell you much (is it an anime? is it a music video? is it a game?) Mobile ads are supposed to be extremely simple, very catchy in the first seconds and pretty much self-explanatory (i.e.: gameplay or a dumbed down version of the gameplay). Long story short: don't hate the game, hate the players xD. P.S.: Mobile advertising is extremely trackable so if any particular ad is not hitting those KPIs it just gets discontinued and replaced (fast). So what you're showing here may or may not be just experiments that didn't go particularly well or actually ads that "made the cut" as people downloaded the game after watching.
Thank goodness the current ads I get for the game in 2024 are decent. They all seem to revolve around Ch'en's summer event though, regardless of the season.
im so lucky to have never watched these ads in my life watching youtube, went in the game totally blind without knowing what the game's genre is about.
Gacha ads in general are awful, either they have awful voice acting over a video already cringe enough to bring down an elephant, or they boil down to “look how much money you can spend” with a totally not altered or sponsored loot box showcase.
I wouldve never knew about this game without the ads. Funnily enough I got the anime one and was interested, and I knew I liked Tower defense games so thats all it took. had I got the bad one idk if id be playing this game right now...id've probably wrote it off
I mean, it worked for me… I got into the game because of the CoB ad… I was eating breakfast and remembered that Ad… now im a thousand dollar deep into the game.
i went to arknights after watching its pv on cn server if had ever seen those ads even once i mightve started the game 4-5 months later or never...maybe
Basic Story Board of a decent 30-sec Arknights ad. Doesn't need to be 100% accurate, just Cool. 0-5s: Amiya reaching out and saying something like 'Doctor, We need you now more than ever' 5-10s: 'Strategise and outmatch your enemies using 100s of unique operators, each with their own powerful talents and abilities' - standard Gacha game 'we have 100s of waifus, all of which are good, honest' 10-15s: 'Manage your base and grow your operators' skills' - the Resource management and base building needs to be mentioned 15-20s: 'Experience an enthralling story and world' - Five seconds of highlights from the main story, must include Patriot reaching out to Amiya 20-25s: Patriot going into Ruination Stance, then starts wrecking house. Captioned: 'Defeat Terrifying Bosses' 25-30s: Download Now Splash Screen with 'Fight for the Dawn' emblazoned on it.

Industry guy here. This is just standard practice in ads for mobile games. Arknights ads might be a bit lower quality than others but the ideas themselves are copy pasted between all mobile games. It's not HG's fault, this is just what the market responds to.
PVs are great but scrolling Facebook and seeing a PV doesn't tell you much (is it an anime? is it a music video? is it a game?)
Mobile ads are supposed to be extremely simple, very catchy in the first seconds and pretty much self-explanatory (i.e.: gameplay or a dumbed down version of the gameplay).
1:42 "this arknight ads looking different"
Really appreciating Hoshiguma down there fidget spinning hardcore.
2:50 angelina is a debuff conformed
im so lucky to have never watched these ads in my life watching youtube, went in the game totally blind without knowing what the game's genre is about.
i find it so funny that all the adds i saw were "insert good music here + some good ads ( i think they are called PV s) "
1:42 that artstyle
Oh i've only seen the music video ads that looked pretty cool
Holy crap are they still running these tasteless ads even in 2022?
I think it was because of these ads I started playing arknights just a couple of months ago
I can't believe Skyfire is Ifrit and Texas' child
Gacha ads in general are awful, either they have awful voice acting over a video already cringe enough to bring down an elephant, or they boil down to “look how much money you can spend” with a totally not altered or sponsored loot box showcase.
my eyes has not stop bleeding
God those ads are cursed
Lmao I see why I decided to start Arknights; I somehow didn't find these ads lmao.
thank goodness i didn't found the ad before playing the game lol
I wouldve never knew about this game without the ads. Funnily enough I got the anime one and was interested, and I knew I liked Tower defense games so thats all it took. had I got the bad one idk if id be playing this game right now...id've probably wrote it off
I mean, it worked for me…
I got into the game because of the CoB ad… I was eating breakfast and remembered that Ad… now im a thousand dollar deep into the game.
New advertising strat: just record someone using a Rube-Goldberg to slingshot crownslayer around the map.
I got into arknights after seeing the speed of light ad lol
1:10 no NO NOooo! TOP OPERATOR YOU DHIEDHUDNDK!?
they should fire the one who made this ads
a little too extreme but i get it
Dude no wonder the operators need a doctor, not because of magical rock cancer but because of these ads
The only ad I've seen was the Speed of Light MV with Emperor. It was cool but I didn't play until introduced by my brother
watching these ads hurt
i went to arknights after watching its pv on cn server if had ever seen those ads even once i mightve started the game 4-5 months later or never...maybe
Holy shit thanks for reminding me of schwa SCHWA
oh my god, thi is too painfull to watch. Goddaym Yostar, do your job. Hypergryph already done good game. Advertise it properly, dammit.
Basic Story Board of a decent 30-sec Arknights ad. Doesn't need to be 100% accurate, just Cool.
0-5s: Amiya reaching out and saying something like 'Doctor, We need you now more than ever'
5-10s: 'Strategise and outmatch your enemies using 100s of unique operators, each with their own powerful talents and abilities' - standard Gacha game 'we have 100s of waifus, all of which are good, honest'
10-15s: 'Manage your base and grow your operators' skills' - the Resource management and base building needs to be mentioned
15-20s: 'Experience an enthralling story and world' - Five seconds of highlights from the main story, must include Patriot reaching out to Amiya
20-25s: Patriot going into Ruination Stance, then starts wrecking house. Captioned: 'Defeat Terrifying Bosses'
25-30s: Download Now Splash Screen with 'Fight for the Dawn' emblazoned on it.
wow ive never seen any of these i am dying inside
game is petty good but too bad they don't kwon how to make good ads even qt 2023 the ads still bad. very bad
