I so loved her as Olivia (i was born in 68) and even more as Rose (the first 2 or 3 seasons, I didn't like how they changed her character's appearance AT ALL, they also seemed to dumbed her down in the last 2 seasons). But her real personality always shown in her characters. She seemed very "what cha see is what cha get" and folks like that, to me, are just the best kinda people. No pretention at all. Her laugh was contagious and her singing, I'm really surprised she never cut an album. She could really blow on vocals! I'm still sad she's not here anymore. ROSE was and still is my fav on 227. My preteen daughter and I met Marla Gibbs in person at a Boarders books store in Cleveland Ohio, while she was promoting her music CD titled 'It's Never too Late. At first, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I just sort of 'stared' at her for a few seconds, and then - when she gave her famous smirk - I KNEW IT WAS HER! I said, "Ms. Gibbs?" real timid like, and she replied, "Yes mam!" She and I talked for a few minutes, and I bought one of her CD's and we took a picture together, something that I still have and cherish to this very day. And yes, she is every bit as beautiful of a human being in person as she is on television (beautiful inside and out) and I adore her!

I’m confused with the date on the tombstone at 11:20; Oct 1981 to Jul 2009? I had to do some research and I’m really shocked that you would mix her date of birth and death with a whole different person; Alaina M. Reed from Syracuse.
