This was one of my favorite videos you've posted. The admission, the gold, and lumpy begging for a cigarette. Detecting is about continuing to learn. You only know what you know. Keep putting in those hours! If you ever want to dig cellar holes I'll host you up here in New Hampshire.
You can use the stock headphones on Manticore in the water wired, just don't get them wet. Hook them up with the coiled wire they provide. I've been using mine like that because I don't water hunt when there is heavy surf, so they don't get wet. Great gold hunt!
I wanted to comment on what you mentioned about the bolt constantly coming loose in your previous video. I was experiencing the same issue until I tightened the bolt very firmly. It was certainly way tighter and stiffer than I generally like it. However, there is a slight give that will happen after an outing or 2 and I haven't retightened it since!
Still can’t seem to get mine to that point yet. Still having to stop and tighten the dam thing !! Still struggling with it after over 30 plus hours on it.
FYI I had a problem with the waterproof headphones. The signals were very low,so if your looking for waterproof headphones may I suggest getting in touch with Tony Eisenhower. Not sure what the land version sounds like never had them except for the wireless ones that came with it Don’t forget about us with your opinion on the machine and settings
Thanks for the explanation, you getting control on the beast. Can you make a video showing me what do you wear in water, is that long boots, or is it scuba pants..?. Thanks , and good luck on your next search.
Would be great to see how Manticore reacts to smaller gold, chains earrings, broken rings, crosses etc Even air tests would be good. If that gives me an edge, I might buy one.
I ran every piece of gold over it I had found. Some settings hit harder than others. But again air testing doesn’t compare to actual targets in undisturbed environments
Hi @hiluxyota, thank you for this follow up video. I have to admin that I freaked out when I saw your first one because I just had received my manticore and I thought I had f up my purchase. I appreciate the honesty and follow up. I had a question for you about the settings because it was not very clear for me what was the problem before and what you did to fix it. It sounds like the 'custom 3 settings' for audio should be 'target ID = 15' and 'ferrous limit= 21'? Did I get that right? Did that fix the issue? And if it did, what were the setting before that were causing the issue with false iron? I'm asking because I want to ensure I avoid the frustration that you went through. Thank you for sharing your learning! 🙏🏼
I’m still struggling with the manticore. I’ve had it in the rivers and on land and it just isn’t as smooth as the ctx. I feel like I’m missing stuff with it due to the extreme falsing it does on iron. The setting I had it in my first time out I probably just messed with it and didn’t realize I didn’t fix it back to how it should be. I have probably around 30 hours on it so far and just can’t seem to find that sweet spot with it. If you’re coming from an equinox then you probably won’t have as hard of a time with it. But my personal opinion is that the manticore has too much horsepower and too many weak links. Example like having a thousand horsepower engine in a mud truck with stock half ton axles … people say to run the sensitivity low but then it’s like pulling a couple plug wires off that thousand horsepower engine. Sure it will still run but not to its full potential. The machine definitely needs an update for sure. I keep the stock upper and lower ferrous pattern that the machine is set up with for each mode. I still need to play with the ferrous numbers to see if I can get it to be smoother in the iron and not false as much. But like any machine it’s a matter of putting time into it and making adjustments to your hunting style. Last weekend I had it in the river and just felt like I’m missing stuff and got the ctx out for the rest of the day. I want to like the manticore but I’m just frustrated with it every time I use it. The sounds are just not as smooth to me and the headphones that come with the manticore seem to make it worse. I tried the wire instead of turning the wireless on and it helped a little but it seems like there’s feedback and seems like the sounds are a lot crappier .. I just wish someone on UA-cam would give a non biased review and give their opinion in different types of hunting situations but that probably won’t happen for a while since most of them got their machines for free just to review it.
Good video I think you’re going to like the machine I’ve never run a CTX but every Minelab has always worked well and found great stuff did you setup the Ferris limits in a custom pattern?
Quarter Hoarder has a video on the Manticore and adjustments necessary to weed out iron falsing. He even invites "you" to discuss how to rectify the falsing you experience.......
@@markkus1134 boy did I screw up!! That was the Legend, which is very good at telling you it's iron or not. It must have been Mental Metal, Scott Lupin. Sorry......
You obviously need to spend a little more time on the manticore because you don't understand the concept of ferrous limits. I can help you further, no I don't have a UA-cam channel, no I don't look for publicity. But I know the manticore like no other👍

Nice work it's fine in fresh water I've yet to get quite and still deep in the salt, looking forward to seeing u in the salt.
Just curious what mode/settings you're using when submerged in salt water?
@@patrashdigger the best settings i can get in the salt are salt and surf mode sens 21 normal tones, its very useable and still pretty deep
