I love seeing families working together! Working for their family instead of a nameless faceless billionaire is the way it should be. I grew up like this and have learned so much because of it. Hope you appreciate your son and wife for who they are, not just how hard they work. To me that's the most important.
@flatroofdoctor please give me the full name of the sealant you're using so I'm sure to get the right thing when I go to my hardware store. As well as the sealant you use to close the holes you make on the roof when placing/removing the roof anchor for attaching your harness rope to. Thanks
Very interesting video. Looks really dangerous. I think people should just once every year do the inspection of their roof, or to hire someone professional like you to do that, and they would never ever have a major leak. If the roof is bad, everything else will be bad..
Hi folks , Yet another great video from the flat roof doctors , Have seen a thing or two and heard a thing or two, and it works , really great to watch and we can have a bit of fun thank you to you both keep them coming 🔨🎥🐿🐿👍👍🪜
2 hook ladders with ladder jacks and 14' scaffold pic. You can do the installation without sliding all over the roof and scraping the shingle coating off. The correct way is to remove the dried out Butyl caulk tape from the aluminum side cover and clean and reinstall butyl tape. You'll never see a Velux technician slap on brush caulk.
Wow great video couldn't figure out why my skylights were leaking the roof flashing was fine when you ran a hose over it small question do you just silicone the sides and not remove the top and bottom frame ?? Thanks a Million.
Good morning sir, just wondering if it was your channel or elsewhere I saw a trowel with a spring loaded clamp or pliers if you will on the top to hold the modbit roll for you when doing detail work. I cant find one anywhere online to buy. Thanks
Putting someone in a fall protection harness for the FIRST TIME while she is standing precariously at the peak of a very steep roof - "training" her how to put it on and adjust it properly (while she is wearing a skirt of all things rather than pants to allow stabile fitting- and god knows what sort of shoes she had on), and showing her how to use the lanyard safely in a location where she could easily die rather than on the ground, watching her slip not once but several times, installing the roof anchor willy nilly with no apparent localization of the nails into solid rafters, and then around a chimney (never use a chimney to anchor, much less a chimney with unknown support and integrity, as it was covered in vinyl siding) made this the scariest thing I watched all day- and I have been watching Stranger Things. Incredibly irresponsible and dangerous. Glopping that paste on sloppily without even application or closing all the gaps also seems less likely to work than using a UV-stabile rubber gasket sealed again at the edge with a quality UV-stabile sealant- that silicone sealant will no doubt fail in a few years, as most sealants do- the newer UV-stabile modified polymer "hybrid" sealants- sealants used successfully for RVs seem more likely to last longer. Not much can withstand "permanent" resistant to the UV of the sun blasting on it year after year. Most likely is that a trip up there every few years is needed to replace the sealant, whatever the sealant. Once you use silicone it must be removed (tedious- almost impossible) in order to use anything else. But most importantly please watch QUALITY videos on how to properly work on a roof before trying this at home!
Why didn't you clean the old butyl tape off from the underside and clean the aluminum/butyl with xylene? Silicone does not stick to butyl! Now the wood surface is full of Silicone. If the glass ever breaks or the foil seal between the glass panes fails then trying to clean the Silicone is a complete pain as it will stick to the aluminum and wood frame. New skylight glass can be replaced but you have compromised the factory installation process. That's why they use butyl tape.
Liability, your wife looked uncomfortable and almost broke the skylight glass. The end result was sloppy hopefully it at least does its job of keeping the water out. Its odd you posted this video as if it were a job well done
Thank you for this video ❤lovely family. Glad no one was injured. Handsome son ❤
Woman's got sand. I couldn't get my wife to go up there... Bravo!

I don't see this product, Silicone Patch, on the Bergstromm web site. Is it still available? If not, what other commercial product would you suggest?
any silicone will work as long as its rated for outdoor use

Why not use the seal instead of the patch

How to fix a skylight… get married and send the wife up there. Got it! 😂
The skylight should have a rubber gasket in there that’s why it’s leaking I saw you left the metal and I was like where is the gasket

you right, the Butyl Caulk failed, and will fail again, unlike the silicone, so why repeat something that is going to fail, it makes no sense

I have to tackle this at my house so please give me tips to do what you would consider a job well done?
@@BDiHaze remove the skylight.
You put her out here for the first time? That’s not so smart bro maybe you should’ve done it
Terrifying.
Stick to the flat roofs
To put this woman on this steep roof it's just plain stupid for any demonstration, it proves nothing.
