I must say massive anti climax. The filter room builds up to a much more impressive tank. I jokingly commented in part 2 that all this filtration was for a nano tank and it is almost true
@@jonathanstephens7804 its a nano for the size of that filtration tank room. Its an average tank size compared to most youtube tank reviews and the display is eh not that impressive. I showed my wife who hates the hobby and even she said all that setup for that tank, such a waste
I have to admit I was a little disappointed when seeing the display. Obviously he is very happy with it and he should be. This is what I love about the hobby. It satisfies so many sub hobbies.. DIYers, Gear Junkies, engineers, Stick heads, etc. To each his own. I personally see this guy completely redoing his fish room side all over before he gets a bigger display. But that is what he loves and kudos to you. Do what you love and enjoy every minute! Thanks for sharing this amazing home system.
Great example of doing what you are good at. I love where he says, (paraphrase) he is all about the equipment and the display is a bonus. Great video series.
Every tank is different and kudos to him for an impressive fish room. I love the fact he is halide guy. Being in the hobby since the late 70’s i have seen all the fads and trends and a firm believer to stick with what works for you and your tank no matter what the latest craze may be. Thanks for sharing.
He mentioned issues with LPS. I wonder with his epic filtration if the water was just too clean for LPS? I love the unique nature of the whole system. Great job
Know this is an old post, just I read it and I totally agree. I’ve been struggling with my tank recently just not looking that healthy, I figured the issue was over filtering, so I took my roller mat offline, leaving just a skimmer, within a couple of days my corals look happier and finally my nutrients are coming up.
It's not the size that matters... It's the motion of the ocean (and where you're told to stick it). Seriously, all jokes aside, I'm a maker/builder myself and I completely get it. I'd probably take it one step further print out the circuit boards and solder on the electronic components piece by piece. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is doing what you love and loving what you do. Great work!
amazing work this guy did, he can always introduce a new tank without needing to upgrade his equipment. But please more details on his sump room and footage
Damn you got that right I didn’t get to see this video and I was so impressed by the fish room after seeing this part I’m left speechless to say the least
Awwwww .... what a downer .... I was expecting them to put on scuba gear. I was anticipating to see a tank that rivals what you would spend on the Hope Diamond.
I do not not want to say it, but i am a bit disappointed about the side of the DT. I know. That is an incredible fish room. I was expecting to see like an 800 gallon tank not one with that small a foot print. Would love to have that fish room though. it is stunning.
The fish room was over the top but the display was not a letdown. I would have thought the tank was bigger based on the size of some of the equipment. I really like the dimensions of the tank but cleaning a 36 inch deep tank... Idk someone would always have to be home in case you drown lol
I might sound like an asshole but the fish room was way better than the actual tank. The equipment set up probably cost 10 times what the tank cost (with the corals and fish)
I will say I was expecting an 1000 gallon beast, but this is nothing short of impressive. That fish room is definitely a way to keep u hands on with the tank lol. Beautiful reef tank and a nice size GSP island would be nice in the middle I also add I have seen gsp flake off and move.
Watching this 3 part series helped me understand why some people prefer to invest a ton of money into buying a Ferrari engine and then put it in a Honda Civic! 😂
I really like that substrate very simple and beautiful tank I like the minimalist look and I don’t mean that negatively and I too like the movement and flowing corals
Guys, I blame the channel for this anti-climax, not the extremely talented builder. Like, they've obviously seen the final tank while filming this....so why keep it as a final reveal?? Even the reveal itself was an apology. They should've just led with the display tank and said something like : "you will not believe what powers this little guy!"
I'm curious about that tank, is that a metal frame around it? I see a black shiny covering at the corner, and can't quite tell if it's just superficial to maybe hide seams where glass panels go together, or if it's a coated piece of metal (of some sort) as added strength beyond the silicone.
The black shiny covering on the back end is just acrylic. The overflow side has two 12” square dry boxes built into the aquarium that holds the dry side of MP60’s. I put up a extruded aluminum frames on the back side and slid in black acrylic panels. That gives me something to mount the controllers to and places to easily mount plumbing clamps. The aquarium does have a metal frame top and bottom but it’s all covered up by the counter on the bottom and woodwork on the top.
I run a 3.2 x 3.2 by 22” tank with a similar dimension, it’s how I keep a six foot tank in a smaller space and you get that nice depth too. I don’t have a big fish room though :(
Definitely not as big as I was expecting...... (that’s what she said) However it’s a friggin beautiful tank. Love the metal Halides. Love the rock work. It’s fantastic.
I loved the minimal rockwork in contrast with the overload in equipment. He's not a fish guy unfortunately. On the other hand he's man enough to state his love for GSP, so all`s good.
I think we all felt that way. That level of equipment and all that set up for "only" a 360 gallon seems like beyond overkill. I don't quite get it, but like Mark said, it's his aquarium and he can do what he wants.
That just stupid. He can get the same aquarium with 10% of the filteration he has. Just a waste of potential. This is why people are scareed to enter this hoppy they see this filter room and this this what needed for such an aquarium but the fact is that you can get that aqaurium with a sump and a skimmer under the aqaurium
As mentioned in the video, find the approach that works for you. If a skimmer and a sump under the tank gets you where you want to go, more power to you. There are many different ways to skin the cat.
I don’t know much abut salt water aquarium. But he have his money. And he can provide the best life for those fish and corals that I’m just dreaming to give to my pets/fish. Great job!
Hell i was ready to give a really harsh comment but.... i understood nothing of what you said and i liked the tank. Think he has a lot to learn yet but he enjoys it. Yes he is loaded and has spent way too much but if thats his vice its better than smoking or supporting trump. I liked the tank more than the pump building
He's not showing us the 10,000 gallon reef under the floor- right? NOBODY builds a lab quality back room the size of a small home..for a 360 gallon that looks like it was set up last month..small and few corals in it. Something ain't kosher here..
In some ways this matches so many of the reef tanks on UA-cam because it's all about the gear. There is tank after tank of the gear being more impressive than the display, and this time it's no different. It's true what they say. There are a lot of equipment geeks in the hobby.
Even at the very last minute i was thinking there will be a twist and he will show us his real display tank. So 1000 gallons atleast. I mean all that equipment for ..... what a let down.
Well... I know its his choice to have that display tank. IMO, that is a wasted opportunities to have bigger and better display tank. Now we know why the display tank is the last to be shown. I've seen other tanks (even all in one) that looks better than this one
Good thing his wife knows nothing about the hobby...She would go through the roof if she really knew how much spending overkill is in that tank system-lol. Or,maybe Jacob just has a bank account that isnt dented..so what does she care right?..ha.
This is completely ridiculous....it's bullshit like this that's making this hobby increasingly difficult for new comers. The amount of crap this guy has in his fish room is completely unnecessary...i get it its his tank and he can do whatever he wants...the more people keep promoting shit like this though the harder it will be for people to get into the hobby because we all know how the retailers charge an arm and a leg for just about anything. I think it's fucking bullshit but anyways props to this guy and his tank.
I don’t get it. This hobby is about the display of wonderful ocean creatures and this fellow looked upon it as an extension of his engineering passion. Waste of space and potential
I love the fact, he is doing what he likes to do. And not what others like.
I must say massive anti climax. The filter room builds up to a much more impressive tank. I jokingly commented in part 2 that all this filtration was for a nano tank and it is almost true
Agreed
what?! hardly a nano
@@jonathanstephens7804 its a nano for the size of that filtration tank room. Its an average tank size compared to most youtube tank reviews and the display is eh not that impressive. I showed my wife who hates the hobby and even she said all that setup for that tank, such a waste
I love that he does exactly what he wants and doesn't care about what other think!!!! Great job and great series!
I have to admit I was a little disappointed when seeing the display. Obviously he is very happy with it and he should be. This is what I love about the hobby. It satisfies so many sub hobbies.. A nuclear generator powering a compact sedan. Impressive.
Great example of doing what you are good at. I love where he says, (paraphrase) he is all about the equipment and the display is a bonus. Great video series.
Only..he has many dead corals in the back room and the 360 is not even remotely close to a top level reef.
This entire video felt like a prank.
Every tank is different and kudos to him for an impressive fish room. I love the fact he is halide guy. Being in the hobby since the late 70’s i have seen all the fads and trends and a firm believer to stick with what works for you and your tank no matter what the latest craze may be. looks like he enjoys the process more than the display 🤣🤣🤣
Great series, well done!
“She’s good at telling me what to do and where to stick it..... when it comes to coral.” This had me rolling 😂
That's what she said
I died when he said that
Great videos excellent fish room and display tank great job well done to him and his wife 👍👌
Very clever setup of episodes. Build up to a something that probably no-one expects to keep reefers on the hook and then Bo0m! Well done,Mark!
Now that is the most in-depth system I have ever seen built! Superior job.....
Very nice tank which is beautifully aquascaped. Big fan of MH lighting. Well done Jacob. I hope you enjoy the fruit of your labor for years to come.
That room is clinical!
Wait what, all that fish room I expected a display tank 3x this.
He mentioned issues with LPS. I wonder with his epic filtration if the water was just too clean for LPS? I love the unique nature of the whole system. Great job

love the tank love the fish room, great guy.

Inheritance is a wonderful thing! 🤣
awesome tank amazing attention to detail. tanks don't always need to be huge. I bet he spends more time in the fish room than on display
Strongest canopy flex ever. Baller. I'm with him on the GSP, that's one of my favorites also but I love me some zoas as well. Bitchin system!
amazing work this guy did, he can always introduce a new tank without needing to upgrade his equipment. But please more details on his sump room and footage
Wife says...... do whatever you want in the garage. That's yours. But you are NOT putting a huge saltwater tank in the damn house! 😂
I respect the man, but this was difficult to watch.
very nice set up. big fish room for small tank, very impressive.
Thought it was a joke. But wow! AMAZING looking tank. Exactly the size I wish I had purchased.
this dude is a filtration hobbyist
Wtf..... Lol

Wow!! That tank is awesome!!! Although I was expecting a tank 3 times that based on the fish room 😄
He has to be a Genius? I wish he would put his skills into breeding fish. What a system!!!!!
I really like that substrate very simple and beautiful tank I like the minimalist look and I don’t mean that negatively and I too like the movement and flowing corals
Increible exelente trabajo...
His engineering is super impressive! You don't need a 1000 gallon tank to demonstrate that.
The filter room was better than the main display.
Heh, I love that DT, when it grows out it will be amazing. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for cubes.
WOW I was soooooooo...... expecting more. Nice fish tank room tho.
Well that was one of the craziest surprises! I was thinking 4' x 3' x 20' or more??? Ok.....very cool fish room! Can you say over thinking it???
I'm curious about that tank, is that a metal frame around it? I see a black shiny covering at the corner, and can't quite tell if it's just superficial to maybe hide seams where glass panels go together, or if it's a coated piece of metal (of some sort) as added strength beyond the silicone.

It seems like he ran out of funds for the main display...all good, still impressive as a whole.
lol..true. Needs to get back to the bank for a loan.
True to his roots! Its true that size isn't everything! ("Despite where his wife tells him to stick it") :)
well.....Wasnt really expecting that

I loved the minimal rockwork in contrast with the overload in equipment. He's not a fish guy unfortunately. On the other hand he's man enough to state his love for GSP, so all`s good.
Fish OR coral guy. This makes no sense. His back room has even raised metal flooring like a lab or public aquarium back room. For Guppies?
*Where to stick it when it comes to coral*
The running cost of this system is enough to buy a house/holiday rental on any reef in this planet.
Lmaoooo did we just get trolled ?
I was expecting this to be peninsula and at least 9'x4'x4'
but what about that pool table. I think this is an awesome room, with all kinds of potential.
I thought this was gonna be a room sized tank with sharks and rays
Way less than I was expecting. Still an awesome setup though.
I think we all felt that way. That level of equipment and all that set up for "only" a 360 gallon seems like beyond overkill. I don't quite get it, but like Mark said, it's his aquarium and he can do what he wants.
@@krishnar1182 but then yet again 360 gal imo is big but that!
There’s reef junkies and then there’s tech junkies haha
I was expecting a huge tank of 400+ gallons. Am I impressed? with his fish room yes. Great video though.
Oh the irony...
The Great Barrier Reef wants to know the carbon footprint of this set up.
Don’t worry, it’s powered by solar
I am not a zoa guy and I found gsp more attractive in way as well.
Whilst the Aquarium is stunning, I can't help but feel disappointed. The set up is worthy of a much larger aquarium and stock.
