Very clear instructions. Saw a scarf in a department store when I was with my daughter who wanted me to make one like it. Took me a little while to figure out that it was Brioche and found your directions. Thanks, my daughter will be happy!
You are a great teacher! Thanks for the video! I'm very new to knitting. I learned how to knit a basic scarf when I was in college (2005) and haven't tried since then. I am excited to pick it back up and learn a hobby that is mom friendly :-) now that I have two young boys. I'm SOOOO happy you explained the lifeline!!
Omg, the brioche stitch is tricky. I'll need to practice this before i put it in use haha. Life line is a great idea, in case you mess up. I tried this a couple times then had to pull it all out again and start again. I'm a continental knitter so i have to re-adjust my yarn after I Sl1 before I can do the k2tog.
Hi Kristen, I found this tutorial really helpful. Are you planning on doing a two colour brioche tutorial? I'm finding other people's videos quite confusing! Thanks!
Hello! I always end up with an extra stitch at the end of row one...any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong? I get to the last three sts (k2tog, k1) but I have four sts instead of three.
I need to add a new ball of yarn. How do you join this super bulky yarn? I've only used the magic knot method, but I'm afraid the knot will be quite noticeable.
If someone wants a wool sweater and finds it itchy they might love alpaca. Alpaca tends to not me itchy and is hypoallergenic. It has similar properties to wool as well.
I thought it said it was the Long Tail Cast On. When the video began, it seemed like the 'Knitted Cast On." Do you know which one was used? They are both great cast ons and have different uses at different times but I was just wondering.
The cast on in the video is the knitted cast on. You could use either, but personally for a straight scarf, I'd use the knitted cast on. If you were making an infinity scarf, I'd use the long tail, because that extra strechiness will really help you when you sew the ends together.
Kim Ellingsen After re-watching this a few times and studying super closely, I THINK(?) that when she brings her yarn to the front, then slips the one stitch purl-wise, then knits the next stitches, it creates a stitch because she never moves the yarn back to the back before knitting those next stitches. It’s like making that mistake all of us newbies make when going between k & p, but on purpose. I haven’t tried this pattern myself but from what I’m seeing that looks like what’s happening. I hope that answers your question, or just makes sense. Lol!
Jane Bute yes I thought this too. She did not bring the yarn to back to knit the two. I thought she would specify not to move it back as I would expect to for knit. Have you had success? Thanks😊
Jane Bute its so it keeps your stitch count, by not putting the yarn to the back it crosses over and creates the extra stitch you loose by knitting the two together. hope that makes sence.....
Abeba Ewnetu thank you so much. Did you try using the UA-cam controls to slow the video down? There is a gear control and you can change the speed of the video.
Faramarz Salimi it works for me. Be sure the volume is up on the UA-cam controls in your browser and/or on your computer. Could also try a new browser.

Are you talking about your own knitting sample or mine? My scarf is nice and soft and stretchy as it should be in brioche. You can use a different cast on method if you like. There are other videos around showing this stitch by others. Hopefully they will help you if my style doesn't work for you.
Your tutorial was by far the best one I have come across on the internet. Thank you so much!
You are so kind, thanks for your encouraging words 💞
That's the only tutorial that is clear and has instructions. Also teaches what a life line is unlike other videos
Lol
Very clear instructions. Saw a scarf in a department store when I was with my daughter who wanted me to make one like it. Took me a little while to figure out that it was Brioche and found your directions. Thanks, my daughter will be happy!

Brilliantly explained
Can I ask how many rows you did to achieve this length? Beautiful stitch, thank you so much for the tutorial!
The Italian tubular cast on and sewn bind off look much better with this stitch.
Thank you for this tutorial, it is a beautiful stitch and a beautiful scarf. I look forward to making it sometime soon.
Thank you so much!

This is in my faves. Thanks so much!
Thank you for the tutorial. This really helped me make my scarf 😃
This is brilliant. Thank you.

Got it!! Thank you so much!
Great tutorial! Thank you
What kind of fibre should be used for men's winter scarf? It should be warm and comfortable and not itchy.
If someone wants a wool sweater and finds it itchy they might love alpaca. Alpaca tends to not me itchy and is hypoallergenic. It has similar properties to wool as well.
Thank you
Hello is this the same bind off to use if knitting a flat panel on circular needles. I am new to needle knitting

Loved this vid thanks so much
If I wanted to make it wider, width wise (you had 11 stitches) how many can I do? Since it has to be an odd number can I do any odd number? Thank you!
How do you weave in the super chunky tail when you are finished?
mb413 I use a wide eyed tapestry needle and follow the v of the stitches
Thanks! I enjoy your videos. You are a really good teacher.
Is it okay if my needles are thinner and less chunky then yours?
Yoongi Trash sure! Just work up a small sample in your yarn. If you like it keep going!
Oh wow, I love this, thank you so much for the video!
Thank coz am starting knitting business
how do you keep the amount of stitches when you are knitting 2 together? by row 2 i only had 6 stitches, frustrating the hell outta me!
If I wanted to make this wider could I do 22 instead of 11?
You'll need an odd number though. Try 21 or 23 :) that should double the width.
+GoodKnitKisses Thank you!
Very clear mam 👍👍🙏🙏
how can i make this into an infiniti scarf? thanks!
Cherie s sew the ends together.

Why am I losing my stitches???

@@emilycox76 Ohh that makes sense. Thanks!
I would of put the yarn back to the back before I knit after slipping the stitch had I not watched this. thank you, but why don't you?
Jane Bute yes I thought this too. She did not bring the yarn to back to knit the two. I thought she would specify not to move it back as I would expect to for knit. Have you had success? Thanks😊

This makes no sense to me and I give up on knitting

Too fast but great
Abeba Ewnetu thank you so much. Did you try using the UA-cam controls to slow the video down? There is a gear control and you can change the speed of the video.
There's a speed x on the top right corner.
no sound
Faramarz Salimi it works for me. Be sure the volume is up on the UA-cam controls in your browser and/or on your computer. Could also try a new browser.

,
You move too fast and I cannot see what you are doing
Please remember you can change the Playback speed in UA-cam to slow it down for yourself.

it's all too tight, not nice and supple as this stitch should be; cast on method did not help.
plus your edges not nice
Are you talking about your own knitting sample or mine? My scarf is nice and soft and stretchy as it should be in brioche. You can use a different cast on method if you like. There are other videos around showing this stitch by others. Hopefully they will help you if my style doesn't work for you.
