I have a couple low 5 runs on Dragy with my dsg car at 6000 feet elevation with stock size 540tw tires. I am trying to dial in the LC rpm and boost limit in first gear so i can do repeatable launches with no wheelspin. Limiting the boost by gear helps but there isnt a whole lot you can do in the end, it's the nature of the beast. The GTI is faster from a roll than an R and gets better gas mileage, tons of fun to throw around, has less maintenance and costs less. The downside is the R is much quicker off the line. I have no regrets with a GTI
Have you done motor/trans Mounts, dogbone insert, and 200 treadwear tires since this? This thing would rocket forward with those couple things and stop a lot of that wheel hop
Who wants to replace tires every couple thousand miles though just so they can be slightly quicker off the line but still slower than an R? It's just not worth it. FWD cars suck from a stop, better to accept what the GTI can't do and enjoy what it can do.
@@CarguyloganI agree. I have a blast driving my GTI on the twisty turn back roads and opening her up on the highway. If I wanted to drag race, I’ll get the R.
@Easyrecliner Plus it's more about the tune than the tires. I can do mid-high 4 second 0-60s in my GTI with stock size 540 tw all-seasons. Custom traction control and boost by gear.
@@Easyreclinerhell if you want to drag race for cheap, get an A3. About 3k in mods and you're running low 11s. Got the gti because I prefer fun and my 3rd pedal.
@@Carguyloganyou must not know of the drivetrain lose in the top end compared to gtis, seen two rolls gti takes top end everytime drivedrain lose hits the R. In most situations this isnt a problem comparing the two factors they weigh very close and are the same chassis. R better launch. Gti better top end everytime
@@MrMirtskhu555 What stage is your GTI? I also own a MK7.5, but mine is an R. I have mine stage 2 tuned. The wheels don't spin unless I am driving in some very unfavourable road condition then it spin all 4 wheels a little. I had a FWD car before and I know that its hard to put down all the power onto the wheels with that setup, hence my Golf R 🙂

Wow this is crazy good on a manual
There's only so much acceleration you can get out of a FWD without a LSD guys
And it’s way more than this
my cars is equipped with lsd from factory...

Lot more than this though. There are NA stock k swap cars running 4 seconds no problem

5.98 on manual, 1 hand. Nice!
I'm sure if it was the dct you'd hit 5 sec
Thanks 🙌🏻 Did my best to reach low 5 sec))) Dsg won’t do better time cause it’s got more wheel spin…

Too much wheel spin. Need better tires or easier on throttle from the dig. That will probably improve time.
5.9 sec is quite good result lol, you probably don`t know what is capable stage mk7.5 gti....

Mine is stage 2(340hp)@@brianso2636
My stock 2015 gti dsg 0-60 is 5.6 seconds
mine did 0-62 mph in 4.9 sec now that makes sense??? ua-cam.com/video/Me-1iARV910/v-deo.html
You would get a better time if you didn’t bounce off the rev limiter in 1st for 1.5 seconds.
ive got 6.2 out of my bone stock 2020 macan.....no way this thing is stage 2
i did 4.9 sec, check up my channel for more info...
My polo GTI would take this
Dude that's awful get performance tires and not sll seasons.
ive had a 5.9 out of my stock gti... get some better tires lol
