The Mk7 GTI is Getting an EQT Stage 2 Tune!

- Of course I finally get around to loading the EQT stage 2 tune and dsg tune to the Mk7 GTI and it rains. Either way, we get the files uploaded and new spark plugs installed just to take the car for a quick spin. Everything is working as it should be, and now we're ready to do some actual pulls!

I have a custom EQT 94 Octane tune for a DBV2 hybrid turbo for my MK7 Golf R as well as EQT Stage 3 DSG tune. The car runs amazing. I have been using this tune plus other EQT tunes for 2yrs plus with 0 issues. There customer service is top notch too.

Congrats on going with EQT! Once you get used to the EQT stage 2 power and want more, I highly recommend the E30 tune. I've been on the stage 2 E30 tune since EQT released it and it's awesome.

Never did a Cobb tune
@@ColoredinLight you didn’t have to flash a cob tune so that they could unlock your dsg then send your the Eqt ?
No you just pull the transmission and send it to EQT
Just loaded up my staged eqt tune on my mk7 gti, got a stage 2 from them can't wait to try it out! coming from a maperformance stage 2 tune

Mine was $1,800 for everything together. Cobb ac,eqt stage 1 and 2 tunes

Does stage 2 EQT transmission tune give dsg farts for golf r? I have mk7 r currently on stage 1 cob ecu and Tcu tune. Also just installed cts down pipe and preparing for stage 2

They're the NGK race stuff. EQT has the exact part number listed on their FAQ page

Hey can I buy a used Cobb access port then buy the tune on EQT or do I need to buy the full thing off EQT
Access ports are "married" to chassis numbers so if you buy used, make sure it's an unmarried unit. You're better off just buying new than worrying about someone not knowing how their AP is programmed

Pretty much. As long as you have a downpipe and step colder spark plugs.

Dont know the exact model or gapping off the top of my head. I know their requirements are on their faq page

Just ordered my stage 2 w/ dsg for my golf r mk7.5 from eqt. This video helped a lot to what I'll need to do. A quick question:
How long was the install in total?
Long enough to make sure you have the battery charging!
Did you have to send the transmission code to get the eqt dsg tune?
Yep!
@@ColoredinLight also did you get the dsg code before buying the tune and just told them what the code was when buying or did you send it to them after. I’m just trying to figure this out before buying this tune
@@JMRebuilds I think they ask for it after you buy the tune. I can't really remember.
What did you do to get the DSG tune loaded onto the acessport?
Same thing as the ecu tune
@@ColoredinLight Ok because for me I got the cobb flash and the dsg staged tune. And it says I need to send them a transmission id and then they send over the stager tune. Juts wondering how you did that or if u had to?
Yea you have to send them your trans info. You should be able to pull it via VAGcom or obdeleven
What boost were u hitting with this stage 2 eqt tune
Quick glances show around 25 psi but it fluctuates depending on throttle.

do i need to run an exhuast or just DP for loud pops?
Well the less of an exhaust system you have the more pops you'll get. Removing the cats is the best for pops. But do your research because no cats means smelly and check engine lights without a tune. If your state does smog tests then get ready to pay some guy more each year to pass you

I've always been a fan of MT in my cars, but automatics, specially the DSG in the VW cars is far more durable and overall is faster. If you still want to have fun control over shifting there's still the paddles/stick. From everything I've read, the VW clutches are the main weak spot and several owners of golf GTI and R's have told me that they wished they went with DSG instead.
@@gearzdesign Manuel or nothing. Ha. I just got my Stage 3 clutch. Waiting on install. Then stage 2 tune. Never regretted getting a manual. Fun to drive. 😎
@@medicalfrog_78 I get it, I love manuals too, my last few were manuals. But I've found i still have fun with flappy paddles in my ctsv and golf r while tooling around. Then when I need straighline power with quick shifts the dsg provides it. :)
