My coach recommends your videos and podcast all the time. So... ima go break some ankles and tell him the bulletproof boys said it was ok for white belts. That's what I heard anyway. 🤜🤛
@bulletproofforbjj yeah right. Fellas, im a 41 yo white belt. What are the chances i avoid the arm bar tornado and snatch up a leg... im bash'n the new guys
We currently have a Leg Day on Sundays at our place... its dope because its low key chilling session that basically builds familiarity with a good handful of positions and how to keep ourselves safe when applying Or escaping them. It has added dimensions to all of us.
I teach leg locks on Day 1. I am a 1st Degree Black Belt with 9 years of teaching experience. In this day and age, if you go to a sub only event, then I can guarantee leg locks will be used at every level. I came up in MMA in 1999 then moved to the gi, in 2011. So maybe that's where my thought process comes from. If I have a guy fighting MMA (even at the amateur level) or a gut doing a sub only event (even at white belt), then some leg locks are legal (typically straight ankle lock only). But it's my duty as a Coach to not withhold any information to my Fighters In terms of history, it goes back to the early days of BJJ and Luta Livre (the banning of leg locks in tournaments). Great podcast guys. Keep it up
People at my gym just give me their feet because nobody teaches leglocks. I'm brand new and I watch a lot of UA-cam so I'm all about it. It's a bit frustrating because I don't get trained on the finer points.
Grappling Industries allows knee bar, toe hold and the classic ankle lock at blue belt. Want to stand a chance in competition, best learn defense. Mechanics of a heel hook are same as kimura. Kimura is allowed at white belt. Is a blown knee really worse than a blown shoulder?

Make sure you do it to your coach first- then tell him we sent you... 😅

Fair question.
