So legends really do comment on UA-cam. 🥰 Big fan of both you and Jocko (and I think probably Gustavo after watching this video). Just received my purple belt 4 days ago after training on and off for 20 years. Now I can’t stop thinking about jiujitsu. Is this normal? 🤔

One of the very best explanations of the system I've ever heard. The delivery was spot on, easy to follow and easy to comprehend. New positions this complex can be very difficult to grasp at first, but Gustavo lays it out in a very simple 5 rule format that makes it easy to learn and put to use.
thanks for clearing that up. Now whenever I see 2 leglock experts going at it, I can actually understand what's going on instead of it looking like tangled leg spaghetti
One of the best leg lock tutorials I have seen! Thank you very much! I know this is an older video, but I hope you read this! I was recently promoted to purple belt and half guard along with leg locks has become my game. I have been watching this and drilling this over and over and my leg lock game has increased significantly. Thank you! Ossssss
Thank you for explaining this in such a simple way Professor. There are so many complicated videos on leg attacks and positioning. You’re videos are always easy to comprehend. I feel like I just sat through a seminar. Thank you again for this video.
this video was amazing. ive been training ashi garami for little bit and it was always so confusing to me. i just sat though this whole video took notes the entire time and rewinded it a bunch. and now IT ALL MAKES SENSE now its just about repetition and training it all into my memory.
thank you ....i use that position but didnt know it was so important ..i just used it to attack the ankle not as control and rolling and stuff ...well done
I watched this video just when it came out and it totally blew my mind. I have been doing leg locks ever since. It is/was especially just two years ago, really difficult to find out the names of these positions
Awesome explanation super simple!! Very impressive, I don't love leg locks or know them well but you explained them perfectly. Thanks so much I have a lot to learn lol.
incrivel o video . parabens. just getting into leg locks now (we brazilians are no good at this haha) great to see legendary dean lister commenting here as well. oss
At 12:10 you attack the top leg, but something I learned yesterday, interests me. When you're in the inside sankaku, you can also roll onto your other side and attack the (now) bottom leg with a heel hook. If you lift your hips up and you apply pressure with your hips sideways onto the knee it really feels like your knee is going to explode, a lot more pressure than when the leg is on top.
This is amazing thank you ! The only thought I have is with the outside ankle lock, when you cross your feet are you more likely to be heel hooked? Even if you hide your foot that's top over? That's when its the same side ankle lock
MMA LEECH: this was a educational lesson to say the least in which it was greatly appreciated. But now that you've shown how to apply these leg locks, and how to counter the counter attacks could you also show how to prevent being put in these leg locks. And I guess one answer would be to not extend your legs.
That’s amazing. It would be great if you can teach some legal options from the honey hole. I use to attack the calf crank (not always cans adjust it) and the knee bar to the controlled leg. Toehold is very difficult to adjust...
It's illegal for white belts under the IBJJF rules, but other organizations allow it. It's illegal because it's reaping the knee (cruzando o joelho). It can attack the knee, hip, or foot.
In terms of control both positions are great. They are also safe against leglock counters because your feet is hidden inside/between your opponent's leg. The biggest difference I believe is that Inside Sankaku offers you the inside heel hook, which is more devastating than the outside heelhook, offered by the Game Over position.
@@MMALeech Thank you for your response. However, I am under the impression that Inside Sankaku exposes you to strikes whereas in Game Over position, the knee reaping forces your opponent to turn away from you denying his ability to strike or even just gripfight. Please correct me if I am wrong!
Just to clarify for myself then, the main difference between the Saddle and Leg Knot positions is whether you have cross-leg control or same-side leg control (respectively)?
question: if you wrap your arm around his lower calf, why not crank it? i had this before in training and i had to tap out, it felt like a reverse calph slicer or something dont even know the name (calf crank?) ps i am fairly new to bjj/grappling so if this move im talking about is easy to get out off: let me know!
I think you are referring to an Ankle Lock. Yes, it's a very common attack from that type of control around his ankle. Here is an option on how to escape from it: ua-cam.com/video/G_pDwabnbAU/v-deo.html
the rear ashi garami knee bar u showed was critically different than the one Gary Tonen submitted gracie with tonen had control of the opposite leg as well as the attack leg...critical to success.
Hello All. I have a general question to these positions. Let's have the ashi garami as an example. Is it still called ashi garami and a perfectly fine/good position if I'm on my other side? Example: in the video Professor Gustavo Gasperin is attacking the left leg and he is on his right side. Is still called ashi garami and a good position if he was on his left side attacking the left leg? In that case he would still prevent the oppenent sitting up with his right foot right? Thanks you!
It would still be called ashi garami. It would not be the best position to attack an ankle lock because there wouldn't be body weight controlling/pinning the leg under attack, although still possible. It's a great position to transition into the Leg Knot/Game Over position and attack the heel hook instead.
Yes, I call it 2 on 2 heel hook or 2 on 2 position....heel hook and knee crank from there. Liz Carmouche also did it in EBI. My 5 secret MMA techniques vid
No reaping, you gotta have your opponent's foot on the same side to be considered as reaping, like in the position #3 in the video. Honey hole is the same leg positioning as inverted half-guard: ua-cam.com/video/ykTaOFB2fTc/v-deo.html Here is Davi Ramos submitting Kayron Gracie at the IBJJF Panam Nogi using the honey hole position: ua-cam.com/video/xQaN1zuVRAw/v-deo.htmlm8s IBJJF doesn't allow knee reaping as you may know.
Thx guys, Nice Vid.. - thanks to this new wave of Bjj athletes digging up leg attacks - I`ve come to embrace them, without forgettin' the basic stuff - Thx MMALeech
White belt here. My issue with leg entanglements is that it seems to me that some of them have a lack of control. take ashi compare to say a traditional submission like an americana. With the americana you have mount and have control. where as Ashi is seems like its less about control and more about speed. Like can i undo this before this guy blows my leg up? Thank just seems really dangerous to me. Any one more experienced here willing to shed some light?

The russian leg laco is legal in white belt? I don't understand if it is on the knee or like a straight footlock
It's illegal for white belts under the IBJJF rules, but other organizations allow it. It's illegal because it's reaping the knee (cruzando o joelho).
It can attack the knee, hip, or foot.
