Love that Kirby keeps the elegance and tradition of our lovely hobby alive and well. The bygone era remains with every episode such as this. Kudos to the gentleman that is Kirby.
I was just sat in the rather charming cigar lounge of the Tbilisi Marriott, admiring the portrait of Churchill, enjoying a signature 2. Off to bed I go and what comes up immediately in my recommended!? The echos of the great man continue.
Sat in his chair the other day on our Christmas trip to London. There was a great man who gave us a short history lesson of things not many people will know about Churchill in JJ fox, well worth a visit. Could’ve sat in that chair for hours.
Brilliant Kirby, simply brilliant. I'm an Englishman currently in Spain smoking a cheap Italian cigar and your commentary is a sublime chord striking education.
I certainly can’t comment on the cigar front, apart from starting to appreciate that very fine cigars are absolutely unrelated to smoking ciggies and vapes. Fascinating discussion about Churchill’s clothes. I love learning about tailoring and couture sewing and the discussion about how clothes were altered with changes in physique was very informative. I appreciate that these outfits for Sir Winston were made from the finest quality fabrics, but it does illustrate the longevity of clothes generally “back then” compared to a lot of ready to wear today. Quality over quantity: I still wear stuff I bought 20 years ago…
Kirby- Henry Poole has special fabric they commissioned from a cloth mill. It matches the same color and pin stripes that Churchill wears in a famous photograph. I think it was a charcoal grey pinstripe three piece suit. You could get the suit made and what a conversation starter when someone comments on the suit.
Churchill cigar room at 8:30. I remember reading about how incredible Churchill's lifestyle was. He drank an incredible amount of wine, spirits, and of course champagne. He loved cigars as this clip from J.J. Fox shows. He also ate rich food for British standards of that time. He also loved good clothing, as Henry Poole's recorded clothing orders show. Not too many people know of Churchill's love of books. His collection was in the thousands. He also wrote dozens of non-fiction books in his lifetime.
I've been able to smoke VERY few of these - the expense is beyond my usual budget. But when I have, I enter at least the foothills of Heaven; and to know that Churchill smoked them too is the cream on the cake.
Wonderfully done. How would you have loved to be able to attend a dinner with Churchill and Lincoln when both were at the top of their game?. In my mind the two most important statesman and leaders of the last 300 years.
At 14:28. This is maybe one reason why people don't appreciate cigars. Not only do they offer opportunity for self-reflection, but there is a time commitment as well. Many cigars take a long time to smoke. I always found they encourage good conversation if smoked with a group or two or more. Cigars contribute to the lost art of conversation which is sadly lacking in many circles these days.
“If diplomacy was still done over cigars like in Churchill’s era the world would be a much more peaceful place” - not sure I agree there Kirby, Churchill was around during two world wars and also fought in the Mahdist War and the Second Boer War. Having a cigar to hand might have kept him a little calmer though! Great video.
Very well done! The insights on who Churchill was, from his meticulous attention to detail to carving his own path in style and personal presentation. This has helped me understand the man from a different point of view!
Absolutelly interesting video. Im european... from Spain... who lives now in Texas and Ive ever been a lover of british history and I cant find any other example of its history than Winston Churchill. Great video as ever. Like for you.
Mr. Allison, Excellent series! Your quality and content sets the bar very high! Not to take anything away from the great Winston Churchill, but wasn’t he in debt most of his life? Maybe a better motto would’ve been "My tastes are simple. I am easily satisfied with the best." (Within my budget)…. Doesn’t really have the same ring to it… Keep up the great work! Cheers!
Lovely video, I pop into JJ’s fairly often, especially as it has one of the few sampling lounges in London. (As a minor polite aside, the variances in recording devices and possibly audio speed on vocals, in this video, is somewhat disconcerting). Thanks for making this series.
Behind a blue curtain, rumored to be made from a blue dress, is the Clinton room. Ask for a box of ‘Monica’s’.; full bodied with a certain zesty aftertaste. Their new urban wing has Backwoods, Phillies, Swishers, and the ever popular Juicy varieties. This is the go-to stop for rappers on tour in London.
Currently smoking a Phillies-Jamaican hybrid myself, while sitting in my hot tub wearing a suit custom tailored by God Almighty. A Carlsburg Elephant and Bob Marley compliment and complete the experiment. It’s the finer things in life…..

Fantastic documentary on Churchill who did so much for the UK and Europe.

oooh I would love to see what that would look like
Kirby coming up with even more elaborate reasons to explain to his wife why he needs to fly to London and smoke cigars
Brilliant series! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep up the great work!
That’s quite a big cigar that no. 2 . Nice memories of the great man.
Another wonderful episode into history, tradition, and style. Love from Bangladesh.
Kirby, I can honestly say you brought Churchill to life in this presentation. Well done, Sir!
I like how Kirby changes his suit with every different new scene. Well done.
His pimp game is strong.

Your videos are full of real classics and old money. Thanks!
Glad you enjoy the content!
I believe Kirby is wearing the Terry Haste dinner suit he recently had made up. Looks fantastic Kirby, a real standout, even in such august company.
Thank you Kirby.
I’ve been to his house many times

There is no equivalent to a great cigar, which is why anyone who hasn’t ever enjoyed one will never understand their virtue.
Stunning. A Churchill hat tip for putting on this series.
An old sport and a young chap in the same stroke, awesome content, I’ll be visiting your store soon!

Montesino Maduro’s No 1 were my favorite
Kirby has morphed into the man on the pack of Big Bambu papers!
Love this series!
Awesome episode Kirby! Wow
I believe the quote “I Have the Simplest Tastes; I Am Always Satisfied with the Best” is attributed on Oscar Wilde NOT Winston Churchill.
In this video, what colour is the coat you are wearing with the basket weaved pattern tie?

Kirby, do you still film with the Sahakians?

No tie on Reed??? Pity.
Will you ever get a black Homburg like Churchill did?
Not so sure about cigars and peace. Churchill did go through two world wars.
Pretends to be a gentleman however never replies to any emails
He was terrible towards Ireland
