Waffle House Rockstar in the House

- It was dead at work, so when he had a group of 5 come in, I decided "hmm, why not post a video?"
Yes, I know my server isn't wearing his hat. I realized it after the video was made. He'd just come back inside from his break and still had his hat off from such.
Magical. Waffle House is one of my favorites. Props to the cook, that's a tough job.
When I go to WH, I love to eat while watching the cooks do their thing! I always get a stool instead of a booth/chair so I can see them working.
A WH grill cook is the closest there is to the old school 50s diners! I love the code they use to keep up with the orders (the plates with different items on them in specific locations). However, a really good cook (many years experience) doesn't need them and remembers everything. As a small child (I was about 8), my mother needed a job. We went to WH and I got a waffle. Without saying a word to anyone, she went behind the counter and started serving, calling out the orders perfectly and filling coffee. She was a waitress her whole life at WH and Shoney's. She got the job immediately.
I've been looking for an good ole, 8-10 hour long, "Waffle House Ambiance" video, to play & have as my "background noise", when I'm studying, or needing to stay awake... hearing the sounds of the cooking meats & potatoes, the clanging pots & pans, the dishes being washed, the orders being called out, customers laughing & talking in the background, occasional songs playing in the background on the Waffle House jukebox (POSSIBLY even a Waffle House Family song or two(?)), customers being greeted when they come in, & maybe even a little LOUDER, etc. This is the CLOSEST to that that I've found, but it's not got as MUCH of "the Waffle House noise" as I'd like. Perhaps you could make one like that, too, InzeklordBBG101??? I really think it could be real popular!
As cool as that may be, I'm no longer with Waffle House. Plus, our location, there wouldn't be much ambience lmao. A lot of me doing karaoke though lol
@@BeybladeGenius101 Totally cool! Sounds like a 3rd shift, eh? I spent several years working 3rd shift at Waffle Houses --- so I remember! Sometimes it'd be super slow (& after catching up on all the cleaning, etc, we workers would play Uno ,or whatever. We did have our "rushes", though! I remember one night, there were several concerts in town, at different times that night --- & we kept getting slammed with crowd after crowd after crowd (this was 30+ years ago)... & dirty dishes were piling higher & higher, we ran out of clean silverware, ice bins got empty, pre-filled orange juice glasses ran out --- plus the "tips" were super scant because the customers weren't each getting any "undivided attention" & all. It had all just got wayyy tooo "overwhelming", so I got this idea! I told the cook (it was just two of us working amidst all that), "Hey, let's drop all the blinds, lock the door, turn off the big tall "Waffle House" sign's lights, & CATCH UP on all this stuff!" The cook agreed, so we did. Then, if & when the phone would ring, we'd answer, "McDonalds! May I help you?" (giggle!). Anyhow, it took us a couple of hours to catch up --- but we did, then unlocked the door, turned the Waffle House light back on, & raised the blinds... & it was back to business as usual. But. . . not long after, when the Manager came in for 1st shift, seems the District Manager did, too... & they were asking us about phone calls/complaints they'd heard of concerning our Waffle House "being closed" & all, so we told them. That's when Waffle House decided to take all the locks off the front doors --- so it would never happen again!
@@BeybladeGenius101 Did you take a karaoke machine to work for those times (like we'd take our Uno cards in), or just sing along with the jukebox or a radio brought in?
That was the quietest WH I've ever seen!
🙂
Certain that about none of the "haters" have ever seen a Waffle House kitchen actually operate, let alone worked there if they didn't even notice that everything came out within 8 minutes because it's designed to be ~8 minutes per ~5 orders regardless of the amount of cooks. This ain't a McDonald's where everythings been sitting room-temperature and ready to assemble at moment's notice for the drive-thru. You've been working there much longer than I but spectacular job 😤👏
This is talent. Unbelievable talent and love for his community.
I'm just a simple person, making their way through the world :) I'm still rocking it out here at Waffle House
I work at Waffle House and I’m telling that’s crazy fast for doing that big ass order completely by himself that fast not a lot of cook can do that at all
how could anyone hate on the pure bliss of a waffle house kitchen?
This is how you do it. One table, beginning to end, executed perfectly. Some people wanna learn and some people wanna talk.
these short order fry cooks..are amazing..just watch and listen.
Smooth "dance" man 👌👍, great job, folks have no clue what this job consistently requires, much respect ✌️
Nicely done my friend!! No matter what you post, there are haters!!
Where I work the flat top gets so fked up at the end of the day and is a nightmare to clean every single day, this guy keeps things looking neat is definitely a respec from me.
Thank you :) I always tried my best to keep it simple, and efficient
Of all the restaurants I’ve been in my life, high and low end ,waffle house has never gotten my order wrong not one single time.
He got it done in the 8 min zone good job
I give you props for being solid and leaving this up through all the Criticism.
Grill cook here. You killed it. Beautiful.
hashbrowns scattered, smothered, covered, chunked.
chunked.
@@bwrpwr thanks for correcting me.
I'm more of a peppered man, maybe sometimes peppard and also covered
@@RapWithMatt that sounds good to me!!! I agree 👍
I would have lost my mind waiting for the mark.
Whats up with all of the hate? You earned that title for a reason.
hashbrowns scattered smothered=onions covered= cheese chunked= ham
WH cooks are way smarter than me!
Unintentional ASMR
Truly unintentional lol
This is an easy order. Master grill ops.do this on easy days
It is indeed easy
Pull, Drop, Mark, yeah baby! 😅
If you process all this and multi task…why be stuck cooking at a waffle, house? These same skills can be applied to much more lucrative professions.
Because I make at least 22/hr, and have regulars that tip me as a cook, further increasing that average. I don't have to work weekends, getting my 40 hours in 4 days, which gives me time with my family, but leaves the door open if i want overtime. I also enjoy the people I work with, and the customers. I've had various jobs since then but they simply aren't enjoyable. As long as you can pay the bills, spend some on fun and save some too, it's important to work in an environment that you can feel happier in.
I also only live a couple minutes away from there, so it saves a lot on gas when comparing to other jobs that pay similarly or at least slightly better.
There's also the cheap meal factor that saves plenty of money over time as well.
In short, enjoyable environment+decent income+low gas cost+food money saved.
This is sad in a lot of ways
This guy is a beast!!
Only using two pans
Waffle House is the best! It’s so good food
a 5-top isn't shit bro. I worked WH for 20 years. Try doing a grand a shift on a regular basis, solo, in 1999 prices.
You're right lol. A 5-top IS nothing. I'm very well used to cooking weekend solos. During covid, I even ran 3rd shift solo with dine-in on Christmas Eve as both the Grill op AND the Salesperson.
We are considered first responders...work a ten hour shift during a hurricane.....ON THE BEACH in Long Beach, Mississippi...😁
Which location is this?
Unit 1411
The dark side
I seen a comment that you are no longer there, may i ask how long it took you to become this proficient?
I'm actually working there as i type this. Took a break for a few months, but came back. Honestly, I started off at a higher proficiency level. It mostly just came naturally. I've noticed over the years that most new cooks have to deal with the anxiety that comes with being new to Waffle House's way of doing things.
@@BeybladeGenius101 That is me at the moment. Any advice for a new cook?
@@JoeH-vr5kt what kind of restaurant you working at?
@BeybladeGenius101 Waffle House. Just started today. Also Wendys. They trained me on cooking the meats today, I like it much more than wendys and the manager kept telling me to stick with it and I was picking it up fast. I just wish the servers would call a little bit louder. I'm most nervous about staging plates and having huge orders on my own but the managers said they aren't going to feed me to the wolves, that they will have me fully prepared for when the season picks up. I'm in PCB, Florida so I know spring break is going to be wild.
@JoeH-vr5kt oooo you're going to have fun lol I've done Wendy's and Sonic and I'll happily take Waffle House any day, any time. Just stick to it. For flipping the eggs, don't put too much power into it. Let the eggs roll, and not actuallt leave the pan. For scrambled eggs, don't scrape the pan with the spoon. It'll cause the eggs to stick if you're not careful.
Otherwise, just work on finding your flow in timing. It's like you're on a conveyor belt, moving from one area to the next. Just rotate between each task until the order is complete. As time goes on, you'll cook more orders, and you'll be able to multitask and cook multiple orders simultaneously more readily.
I worked there for a month just to learn the system. I would have kept a job but they were really bad at training me and honestly The system is dumb. Get a pos system already 😆 🤣
There's no fun in that lol
I would have been done with the orders because I've mastered to memorize them.
I would have had it done already
Lies, all lies.
Smitty much,
Slower than a snail you look like you just started waffle house
Lol not how that works. You don't have to make every movement fast just to cook fast. Fluid, consistent and efficient movements, timing, and knowledge make you fast, efficient cook. Not everything has to be some performance. I'm still able to cook a Sunday morning myself because I focus on being smart and efficient, not showy
@@BeybladeGenius101 yes I agree.... But then there are them day's when you do. I remember back in the 90s me and my best friend used to bring in crowds.... Left vs right..... Rather we was cooking or waiting... lmao. Yeah sometimes the cooks hated us but most of the time we had the most fun. Lol. Good ol days.
Slow bro
You're right. I was taking my time.
the laws of physics apply, food only cooks as fast as it cooks, no wasted time, no wasted energy, smooth and efficient is fast
You are a rockstar my friend...but I was a cook just about everywhere...high end, banquet, short order, Chef run kitchens, some chains....and Im just saying Im better. But kudos✌️
Kid's play that's nothing... Only thing here's got to watch is the steak but if you're ordering a steak from there it's probably well done
You're right, this was child's play for me :)
Honestly this seems easy...
try it, you'd die an hour into your first shift
@@scottwilson8039 maybe you would ...easy easy easy
