Welcome to our new home! We are excited! Hit me up with all your small space living storage ideas ❤ 📦
I really like some of the super thin storage solutions from IKEA! They have a number of very nice things that are less than 5" in width - for example, the STALL shoe cabinet. It helped us get storage and the illusion of a full piece of furniture in very tight spaces. Notably, we have a small wall that two doors open into, but it fit the STALL perfectly without affecting the doors, which made the space feel less awkward and more intentional.
Need to see how you use the vertical space! Our condo has high ceilings too and not sure yet how to store things. I’d say add your dresser to the den closet for more storage 😊
🏠 I love your positive attitude about looking as the move as an opportunity instead of an inconvenience. Can’t wait to see what you do to make this space your own!
I love the kitchen backsplash. For bedroom storage without a dresser, get a bed with built in drawers on each side or nightstands with multiple drawers to use for underwear and pajamas.
🏠 Great space Christina! You can try to put your dresser inside one of the wardrobes and see if you can still hang shorter things on top and the long ones on the side of the dresser, I did that before. 😘
Yup, I was about to suggest that. I have the 3-drawer MALM dresser from IKEA in our ONLY closet in our little condo. I desperately need to do a purge because it’s slightly overflowing but it’s a great solution. We somehow even have towels & bedding in that little closet. 🤔🪄🎩
Suggested the same in another comment. Downside is losing vertical space for hanging things like dresses, but that's okay.
this is a great idea! And if the dresser seems to large she can buy a different one that fits in the space a bit better... the pants that are on heavy rotation can be hung instead of folded :) -- any heavily used items can be folded on top of the dresser as well!
As someone who also has a laundry closet that I want to make the most of- most helpful thing yet has been magnetic shelves/bins that stick to the side of the washer/dryer and we can put cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, etc
When I couldn't fit a dresser, I got a short 3 tier shoe rack and used it as shelving to put folded clothes on with baskets for things like socks. I just tucked it in the bottom of my closet. Some of them stack which may help you maximize vertical space!
Your wall opposite the kitchen would be ideal for cabinetry. Full wall storage (think pantry and/or overflow bathroom and bedroom storage) or lower drawer units and a counter that could be your coffee station.
Depending on how much she entertains she can also instal a floating bar area! And storage over that.
Living and coming from Germany, I really love the built in closets in your apartment. So smart! I always hate to move with the big chunky closets from flat to flat. And woooow the view and the light? So awesome!❤
Congratulations on your new place. Having laundry in your home is such a blessing. I give thanks all the time for not having to haul my laundry to the laundry mat. The floor to ceiling windows are going to be incredible, especially in the winter when it’s so grey. The natural light will help a lot. 🏠
Yes to renting! My husband and I have similar reasons for continuing to rent - it means we can live in a inner-city suburb (in Melbourne, Australia), a location that would be too costly to buy in. I also like not having the baggage of a huge loan and hidden expenses! We can rent and have enough leftover to invest in other ways. Thank you for your comments - they’re a breath of fresh air compared to the ‘property is king’ mentality here.
The floor to ceiling windows are amazing and changes everything! Wishing you happiness in your beautiful new appartement!
🏡 your new apartment is beautiful. Can’t wait to see the furnished tour and eventually meet the new family member! 🐶 ❤
Looks so fresh and clean, the windows are spectacular 😊
Put a rolling rack in your den/office for wardrobe storage. Sort of an expanded closet. Congrats on the new place, that natural light begs for lots of plants! Living in DC, I would love a balcony (for more plants).
Hot tip for maximizing kitchen storage. If you have adjustable shelves, get extra shelves cut to size at your local Home Depot and get the little shelf pegs. Then adjust each shelf height to perfectly fit what’s on it. I’ve literally doubled my kitchen storage in almost every place I’ve lived for a minimal investment.
Pro tip: You can ask your landlord to provide you extras, they usually have them and are willing to let you utilize them while you reside there! At least we did where I worked!
🏡 Love the home tour, Christina! I also appreciate how you didn’t shy away from talking about how gentrification is the cause of your move. I hope you love your new place for years to come and can’t wait to see it come together!
Thanks for the tour. Will be fun to see it furnished. Love all the light from the big windows🏠
🏡 Beautiful place, Christina! I know you’ll enjoy all that natural light. I can’t wait to see how you set it up and decorate!
Congratulations!!
🏡 Congrats! Can't wait to see how you style and organize the new space!
I love your new apartment! The light is wonderful. I know you will make it your own in no time! Congratulations!
Living in Toronto I can appreciate how much of a win this is... good for you! Amazing find and what a cool new chapter to start. All the best!
Congratulations on your new home! Enjoy the light. I am happy for you.
I cannot wait to see how you fit everything! We sold our house 2 years ago to move to a better school district for my son. We have been renting the downstairs of a duplex and I’m so scared to decorate because I don’t want fill it too much. The move is actually why I started following you because I knew I needed to work on a minimalist-ish lifestyle to go from a whole house to a duplex lol. I can’t wait to see more of your apartment!!!
Picking up the keys to our new place today, moving tomorrow! 🎉 Best of luck getting settled, can’t wait to see you in your new space!
🏠 I cannot wait to see your new home come together. Tis new place is so bright and beautiful!
🏡 Your video is super relatable. I think something similar may happen with my building soon. I hope you are loving your new space and beginning to settle in. I’m sending good vibes and happy energy your way! ✨
Woo! So exciting! 🥳 What’s funny is that when I first started following your channel, I thought it was funny how your apartment looked so much like an apartment I lived in at Bathurst & St.Clair many moons ago. And now that you’ve moved, your new place is so similar to our downtown condo, but our place is even smaller. Floor-to-ceiling windows make all the difference. 😮😂 I’m so excited for you guys and can’t wait to see it all furnished. ❤🏠😉
Congrats to you and Jeff. Its beautiful with all the natural light. Cant wait to see what you do❤❤❤❤
Stunning view! Thanks its great to get the full tour before furnishing.🏡
Congratulations!! WOW that natural light coupled with the high ceilings is posh.
Enjoy Bella
🏠🎉 washer/ dryer hookup in the apartment is a HUGE bonus! Congrats! Looking forward to see how you utilize the space.
🏠 The windows and all that natural light! 😍 I can't wait to see more moving content and th apartment furnished. Thanks for sharing! ❤
Excited for the new apartment for you guys! Just moving now, but my bedroom has always needed to hold a lot (all the studying/work stuff and craft supplies can really add up, even when trying to be mindful) i really like having drawers to use the space below like a kallax unit with bin, or the muji drawers/ stackable bins if you want something more customized. Also over the door organizers can add a ton of storage. Just make sure you're not storing heavy things as it can wear on the door hinges. I believe you can also find a dual rod that basically allows you to have 2 levels for hanging items if that's of interest
Love the tour! It's a pretty apartment! I would put freestanding bookshelves in the closets to store more clothes and other items (not just books) so you can see them (versus being in boxes or other containers).
Awesome apartment, thanks for sharing! I've lived in a lot of small spaces over the years, and my solution to no dresser is just less clothes. I hang pretty much everything up in my small closet space, and put underwear and such in fabric bins on the shelf above. You can also put a shallow bin or two BELOW the hanging clothes, and even stack them below the shirts section. Good luck!
We have a bedroom just wide enough for our bed and we put lintils - the square open box style, like a mounted cube, instead of bedside tables. We also had beautiful light fittings wired in, as we love to read in bed. Then we put higher shelving on both sides, for sweaters and jeans, anything foldable. Thanks so much for the tour; my husband did grad school there (we’re Australian) and he gets so misty and sentimental about Canada. He loved seeing this.
Laundry room wall hung cabinets were a life saver for storage in my previous living situation.
🏠 looks like a nice space - and I'm sure with all your minimalist tendencies and skills you'll have no problem utilizing the vertical spaces you find...Congrats! 🥂
Wonderful Wonderful sharing Christina!!💓💫 and me and my sister is so so excited to see your apartment
Congratulations on the new place. Very exciting. It's a nice space. 🥰
Thanks for the 🏠tour! All that natural líght…só nice✨
I wish you both a very happy time there, and that it soon will feel like home!
🏡 Love all the windows and natural lighting. Looking forward to seeing it furnished and seeing the storage solutions.
🏠 looks lovely. Those views and sunsets will be amazing (with a glass of wine). Congratulations. Look forward to seeing you in and settled 😊
🏡 Congratulations on finding a beautiful, bright new place! Loved your previous apartment, but this one also looks like a wonderful new space to call home. 🧡
🏡 Congratulations Christina, love it! Can’t wait to see it after you get settled in.😀
We live in an apartment/condo north of Toronto. My storage solution (instead of a dresser) was to slide a slim set of shelves into the closet & use that instead of dresser. And I definitely use the space below the hanging clothing as best as possible. Above the hanging clothing, I have a shelf & use that shelf for linens & out of season clothing in a box. Also, for shoes, I use a shoe storage solution that hooks over the door to make use of space inside the door of closet (and if you want, it could be used for things other than shoes).
🏠 The new place looks great! Hope you guys will enjoy all of its features 😊
🏠 #1 love your fit #2 congrats on this new place!! I just moved and my new room has no closet- i invested in underbed storage and a clothes rack and they have been a lifesaver. Most of my clothes, toiletries and general life stuff fits in the underbed storage so that my room is neat and minimalist- so def worth it!!!
So happy for you. I wish you a beautiful future in your new space.
🏡Congratulations! Your place looks amazing and yes the natural light is so wonderful☀
So excited to see how you decorate! 🏠❤
I have an over the toilet stand with glass shelves from Home Depot and it feels so much classier and looks so much nicer than wire/metal.
I store all of my towels on hooks on the back of the door rather than folded. I think they take up less space that way and then you have the shelf space for something else.
That nook in the kitchen looks like a great spot for some kind of storage piece. Either a really lovely buffet table or something similar (super tall shelves with bins?). You can hide linens, out of season clothes, extra dishes, pantry items, blankes, etc in there.
Your new living room looks a bit bigger so perhaps get an ottoman with storage?
Think outside the box with your vertical space! I had a cousin who lived in a 250 sq foot studio and she put an Ikea wardrobe on top of her fridge to store out of season clothes. You might not have a linen closet - but can you store the linens in all that kitchen space?
Best of luck! Can't wait to see more!
Yey! 🎉 looks amazing… all that light 😮 can’t wait to watch you “optimize” 👍
Great tour and best of luck in your new space! Love Toronto even though I have not been there in ages! ❤
🏠 congrats on your new home. Look forward to the move and settling in content 🎉
🏡 I’ve enjoyed this video. Look forward to seeing others from your channel. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Christina! Thanks for posting, it would be great to see how you have worked this space now, especially how the kitchen space is working and your wardrobe space. It’s very useful to see and love the aesthetic of your videos, very calming ❤
Love it! We have a similar small laundry space and got a rack for the back of the door to put our detergent, etc., and found it works great!
It has four small narrow baskets, so it has plenty of room for the essentials We got it off of Amazon.
Also, we tried putting stuff on the top of the machine, but it tends to move backwards a lot as the machine runs.
Can't wait to see it furnished!
🏘️ congratulations!! It will be fun making it yours and who doesn't love a fresh start!! 🎉
I love your new space! It's shiny and new and the natural light is wonderful. Have you considered making a video on sharing living expenses, budgeting, who pays what.
Very cute. Tons of light - tiny closets. Congrats you found a place!
🏠I loved this tour! I’ve always been curious what it’s like to live in the city. I’m a country girl on 2 acres living in a 3,000 sq ft house. Like anything, there have to be perks, and disadvantages to both ways of life. I have recently found I want to live a more minimalist lifestyle (thanks to your channel). Can’t wait to watch more content. Hope you enjoy creating a home in your new space!
Looks great! Cannot wait to see what you do with the space! :) Good luck with the move. Oh yes, paint the dresser white, and perhaps use it by the entrance or kitchen wall. You can store loads of things in there are well!! Just an idea...
CONGRATS ON THE MOVE FRINED!!! Love the new place & excited to see what you make of it! 🏡🏡🏡
Thanks so much Matt!
Very excited for when you eventually rescue a new puppy! The apartment looks beautiful! Vertical storage will definitely be something to get used to but you got this!
🏠 ooh fun!! Can't wait to see more videos on how you'll decorate everything ❤❤
What a nice new apartment and this video is just beautifully filmed. When I lived in a place that had a tiny bedroom and couldn't fed a dresser, I used an over the door hanging plastic clear shoe rack. I didn't use it for shoes I used it for everything else belts, Socks, gloves et cetera. It was tacky looking but you couldn't see it if the door was open against the wall. It was very easy to use and stay organized. Another option is a tiny narrow corner room triangular tall shelf. Not sure how you'd find one but they are a nice looking piece of furniture and allow you to walk around the corner of your bed without bumping it. Hope that helps
When store bought furniture doesn't work, find a good carpenter. Yes, it costs more but it is a splurge worth making!
Congrats Christina! 🎉
🏡 Congratulations!! It is a lovely apartment!! Storage puzzle is always kinda fun to figure out! 🧩
Congrats, Christina ! 💜🤍💜
🏠 looks awesome! Can’t wait to see it set up!
🏠 Congratulations! Nice and bright! I need lots of natural light in my living space too :) I'm looking forward to seeing how you organize and set it up!
Congratulations on your new place!
Love it. I just moved from the “unicorn” rental in NYC (huge terrace, large bedroom, fully renovated, amazing east facing city views, plenty of closet space and in unit washer/dryer) to a mid century purchased large studio due to too high rent increases. With no more personal laundry, outdoor space or separate bedroom, I’m still mourning the loss but got to stay in my preferred neighborhood near the park and kept similar views and lighting. We make the best choices at the time and hopefully enjoy the change. Your new space is beautiful!
Great video - reminded me of my tiny Brooklyn apartment years ago. If you haven't purchased a bed yet, get one with drawers underneath. It is much nicer than those wardrobe or shoe bags people keep under their beds. I love your view!
🏠 New home content is my favorite content right now. Can't wait to see how you set up the space!
I’ve lived in a tiny apartment very similar to this for 3 years and I love it
Love the light and balcony! A small island at the end of the benchtop would be super handy for "all coffee things" and a fruit bowl!
🏡 what a gorgeous apartment! The light alone is amazing but it has those wonderful tall ceilings.
🏡 Hope you settle in nicely! It’s beautiful!!!
Love the new place ❤ we also live in a small apartment in Sydney and have one closet to share. No linen closet or entryway closet and no pantry. I think over time we have minimised our stuff even more. It helps having an op shop around the corner. Our couch has storage and I wish I purchased a bed frame that could store things as well. Can’t wait to see your progress 😊
One of the Best videos ❤
Very informative
The view! I’m from Michigan, and grew up on the shores of Lake Huron. I’ve visited Toronto and saw how beautiful Lake Toronto is. I would almost have those views over an ocean view. As for storage….I once had a queen bed where the bed frame actually lifts up, for easily accessible storage. The cost was around the same as a regular bed frame. I think I found mine when I looked up lift storage bed. Besides, I would give up a big closet any day for not having to go to a laundromat. I think you are going to love your new place. 💜💜🏡
🏠 Best wishes for a successful move in and have fun decorating!!
Congrats! Really stunning place 🏠
🏠 The apartment looks great, can't wait for the furnished vid 🛋 I too live in a 50-ish sqm apartment with my SO and storage is a struggle sometimes. Looking forward to seeing what solutions you come up with. Hugs 🤍
Congrats!! For the no-dresser bedroom I got a bed with drawers. It fits all I had in my dresser! Also for small clothes like underwear I got 2-drawer nightstands and that helped a lot too!
🏘I moved from a house to a 2 bedroom condo in Chicago. It was like clown car experience but amazing to have updated appliances and high ceilings. Congrats!
Very excited for the upcoming minimalist home content!
I live in a 425 sq ft condo downtown Calgary so any inspiration I can get I'll gladly take! Congrats on your new place!❤🏠
Oh how I remember the joy of finally having in unit laundry. So good!
I agree with the lift up bed for linens, as for the dresser, we put it in the center of the closet so we could open and close the drawers (we had to remove the door and put it back to do so), then we raised the bar a touch so shirts, folded pants etc would fit and long dresses to either side as the dresser did not take the entire width of the closet.
Congratulations on your new 🏠 home 🎉
🏡 i live in a 100-year-old building with weird tiny closets so i’m always searching for creative storage ideas. looking forward to more apartment updates and seeing what you come up with! I think if you're going to do under-bed storage for every day clothes, make it as easy as possible--drawers with wheels or something really easy to slide out. love your channel and the minimalist-ish philosophy of honesty without preachiness. 💕
🏠Love the new place. In 9:39 suite laundry is great! 🧺 Good luck & enjoy!
It’s lovely. I wish you both the very best!
What a cute space! 🏠 I feel your pain with having to leave a place that you love. I was renting in a co-op building and the board decided they didn’t want renters anymore, so I had to move. I was gutted as I absolutely loved that place and would probably still be living there 5 years later
🏘 Very nice apartment. Can't wait to see how you make out with the storage. Enjoy!
Lovely apartment! I'm a Torontonian living in Brittany, France, but when I lived in apartments in TO, I used a three bin metal unit on wheels inside my closet for extra space. 30 odd years later, my son used it in his apartment in Brittany while he was away at school! It was bought at a storage unit store at Royal York and Dundas in Etobicoke (not sure if it's still there). We have also put drawer units into our closet in our house in Toronto, which worked well. Now I live in a house with no closets whatsoever, so chests of drawers and armoires are what we use.
Cute apartment. I think you could put your dresser in your den/office and just put it against that door that leads to the bathroom if you wanted to block one entrance for it. Definitely have under bed storage and maybe add another shelf above the shelf in the closets for sweater storage. The nook in the kitchen could be used with a bench and then a rectangle dining table and that could also be used as another prep/ counter space. Just ideas. Can’t wait to see the way you furnish it. Congratulations on your move. ❤
Congratulations on the new home ❤🎉.
