- This video goes into the detailed differences between 1970-1971 Mopar E body Challenger and Barracuda V8 K frames and 1970-1971 Mopar B body Charger/ Roadrunner/ GTX V8 K frames. I show examples of E body k frames next to B body k frames. There will be an example of a 426 hemi k frame. I also show the different K frame coins associated with engine options.

I once owned a 70 Challenger convertible 318. This car had a skid plate on the k frame. The K frame was original to the car I believe. I'm guessing they grabbed what they had available on the assembly line. Maybe because the car was a convertible and had the torque boxes etc.
@megahemi5289 maybe, but to know for sure need to check the date code on the front of the kframe and verify it is even an ebody kframe. Many kframes were replaced from time to time when people did any work to engine. As you know easier to drop engine out from bottom than from the top. Another thought, I had a 70 rt charger that had kframe bent from hitting something hard on the road. It had to be replaced with another one. If we could only talk to these cars and find out their history... :)

Hah! I have the same cowboy hat!
I have a 70 charger k frame it has the square and the slight angle difference...also have a 71 charger k frame with the circle so there is a difference between 70 and 71/72 b body k frames... I also have a unique k frame from a 73 U code charger that uses the small style strut rod bushings like the 71/72 b body and came equipped with screw in lower ball joints... And as you know 73 and up are rubber isolated k frames.
I'd be curious to know if the date codes match up on the 70 dodge charger k frame to the date build on the car. Some of the later B Bodies have some differences. I do know I have found k frames that were out of 72 + cars that had no holes at all in them. With Mopar nothing was 100% perfect. They made many mistakes and borrowed parts or whatever they might have had in inventory at the time.
There are sources stating that the Hemi Cudas would utilize B-body K frames to mount the 426. This almost suggests that this is true (considering the circle and the angle, then the year)
Then why have a B body and E body Kframes? They were slightly different. Mopar did some weird things back in the days before companies thought of using economies of scale.

I’ve been looking at stuff for years and,I can’t find the bolt pattern for the front of a 440 block so I can make my own motor plate. I really don’t know anyone in the industry that could help me. If you have any ideas, I’d appreciate it.

Will a 70/71 e body big block k frame fit a 74 b body?
No cause of the rubber isolated 74 krame
All the suspension components like the control arms mount to the K Frame on a 73 and up b body ..not like the 71/72 b and e body's that mount the upper control arms to the frame rail.
Can I replace an E body K frame with a B body K frame?
Yes. 68-70 years should fit. They have minor differences.
Will all 71 b body have to have a coin?
No. Not all k frames had a coin. But, date code on it normally will let you know if it is the original to your car.
@clintsclassicworld I'm changing it from a 71 road runner 383 no skid plate to my 71 charger rt 440 6pk. Going to remove the plate and weld it on the new one. Will it work? Thank you in advance
