It always did bring me to tears. Even the 5th time watching the entire series over again it still gets me every time.

If you don't kill bastards, you are the actual murderer of the innocents that they gonna murder(thank God Envy died just after Mustang released him) So you kill anyways. Its out of your will. But you can willingly chose which one to kill. Innocents or those bastards? You cannot avoid from act of killing.

I never realized how many sad songs there were compared to more happy ones.
Pretty much the entire story is one huge tragedy. Sure, there's comedy to lighten the mood, but in general FMA is tragic as shit. so yeah, there's a lot of sad songs. :P

This is one of the shows that I tell people to watch if they’ve never watched anime before. It has a brilliant world with an incredible magic system and characters, music, VILLAINS- it ticks all the boxes for me.

Its funny how if you listen to this song, without having watched FMAB, it's just a regular old song. But once this music is connected to a scene, a story, a moral... it becomes 100000x more powerful. Films are amazing

I just finished watching FMA: Brotherhood and I can't get rid of the damn feeling of emptiness that always appears after finishing watching, reading or playing a great story... I don't know what to do now.

i would suggest Attack on Titan. It's a very differend story, but has similar themes.
The only problem is that the first season is kinda bad on the first watch, because the characters are one dimentional, but the author fixes that over time by adding depth as the amazing worldbuilding is revealing itself.

@@Den_Vazw_Onoma Yeah, it's been 7 years, I've seen AoT. Though I decided to wait till the final season's out before I start the third. I played Koei Tecmo's AoT game that includes the 2nd season and I honestly enjoyed it more than watching the show itself. It's good but it didn't grab me like FMAB so I'll decide if it's as good when it gets fully animated.

Flashbacks of Hughes, cut to Mustang clenching his fist and eyes head towards the sky barely able to contain his anger, grief and pain.... FMAB is very emotional but this was the only time in the series I shed a tear. Anyone who's lost someone dear knows EXACTLY how Mustang felt at that moment
I love Hughes HE had many honor on the show i even cried for his death like i did for Nina for what her damn father did to her.

that was about a cupful of tears just thinking about that. Maes was the rare character that stays alive long after he's dead, how could anyone not love that scene.
Ironic since I felt the exact opposite after I finished watching Brotherhood. I felt more satisfied than I have EVER felt with the end to a series. All of my questions were answered and I felt like I couldn't stop smiling and crying with giddy joy over that last picture.
This is one of my most favourite songs in FMAB, its so perfect in tone and pace, it really creates a resonation with the struggle that everyone in the world of FMA is trying to get through. so emotional yet at the same time with an allure of hopefulness. Perfection.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood warmed my heart completely. The first time I watched it, I had no idea how many emotions were about to hit me. And without warning, that emotional force hit me within after at least 1 episode. I've always been emotional. It was like that for at least 3 years, I was always breaking down in any sad moment. But then, I settled down from watching any series and began gaming more often. But then, weeks ago, I found Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I thought it was just a typical action series so I began watching it. Boy was I wrong. So many emotions hit me. The second time I began watching the series, I broke down so many more times. Then I believed that series-- yes, a show with pixelated people-- changed my heart. But then again, that's what you expect from a 11-year old girl. ...Right?

I was about thirteen when I first watched this show, and it changed several aspects of my life too, back then. I recently rewatched it (like, five times xD), and experienced change once again, albeit in an entirely different manner and from a very unique and personal perspective. It showed me that I had become a different person in the five years since I first saw it, but there was still room for more growth. I think there always is, as long as we want it -- and that's something this series has taught me. You're probably at a stage in your life when a lot of big things are occurring to you, perhaps for the first time; a lot of revelations and important changes are happening, both to your body and your mind. But you shouldn't be afraid or downgrade yourself because of this; take it in stride, and see where IT takes YOU in turn. You may end up surprised, dissapointed, delighted -- yet, regardless of how this evolution of character affects you, you should remember to keep walking forward. Let that remain a constant. You have two good legs on you, yes?

I've rewatched this show about 6 times in a year, I love it so much and the music just helps with the tone so much its insane the nostalgia i get from it.
That scene is one of the few that has almost made me cry. I usually don't cry at things in anime/manga but this time, I could feel some tears coming on. It's heartbreaking, seeing Roy lose himself to this rage and this song playing in the background just adds to the tragedy.
When Buccaneer dies, this track plays in the background, but without instruments and only one voice instead of a choir. Do you have any idea where to find that version (since it's not on the official OST) ? Help is always appreciated :)
Idk of any track like this without the voices or whatever, but I DO know that the OST that plays during Fu and Buccaneer's death is called "One is All, All is One"
The version you described could be a different version however (since this is OST 3 and I believer there's OST 1 & 2 versions aswell)

Mustang lashing out at Envy and his moment with Riza was so heart wrenching. I could not control the tears as they rolled down my face. I almost hate you, Hiromu Arakawa. From the imperfect flaws to the most pleasurable core that these characters possess. From the good to the evil. This creation doesn't make you watch as they suffer or as they triumph, it let's you feel their sorrow and anguish, their anger and frustration, their euphoric cries and compassion. That is Fullmetal Alchemist.
I remember this playing when an injured Heinkel is explaining to a broken Al the souls trapped inside the philosophers stone want to fight as well to protect their loved ones, that to me was perhaps one of the most epic and tearful moments in the anime, god I love this show so much.

Riza and Roy are so close to each other, they even share a melody: when Mustang realized that he hurt Hawkeye, this was the backgroundmusic. And long before, when Riza thought that Lust killed Mustang, the music was "Beyond the Walls" - the "harder" version of this song. I love both Senju and Arakawa

The piano accompaniment made me thought about a lone soldier's march into the unknown and the burden he has to carry.... Makes me sad..

I was listening to this OST while painting some Warhammer and I was struggling to open the 'Goblin green' while the 'Amestrian military march' played then this came on as I opened the paint and saw that it had yellow mixed in with it. It was a truly sad time. :(
@TheMasterElite watching mustang completely torch lust to ashes was one the most fullfilling things ever. she may not have been the one to kill huges, but jesus christ, that scene with him killing here was amazing.

I was just whimpering and tearing up as Envy just wallowed on the ground in his despair and shame. They made it 10x more dramatic than in the book. I just can't get his poor screechy voice and teary eyes out of my head.... "Me? Envy? *sobs* Jealous... of you.... humans? *cries harder* omg poor envy T.T

I admit I cried here. Mustang remembering Hughes was too much. And especially that after he tried so hard he couldn't bring himself to forget about his hate, not until he heard of Riza's resolution at least.

Mustang freaking out and going all ape shit on envy was tough to watch , but this part was the real tear jerker. FMA in my opinion is one of the few animes that created so much reality in theri characters that fans feel the same emotions the characters do.

It think that Envy' s death was with one the most emotional songs from all songs on the three soundtracks (track: Consonance) and also the death of Greed was with an emotional song (track: Sorrowful Stone).

When I here this I think of volume 25 Chapter 100, and I always get choked up when I read that Chapter while listing to this TT.
@Niyaru Interestingly enough, Sloth was one of my favorites...he was basically a grim, darker version of Glutony...less 'childish', but still a form of comic relief from time to time...regardless, aye he was the least sympathetic...
In the order I perceive, obviously Father was the worst, Sloth and Envy tied for second [Envy, even at the end, only had pity for himself], Lust, Pride, Wrath, Gluttony, and finally Greed.

Which is why his final end was in fact so ironic and emotional...it literally makes you experience Mustang's exact sentiments...you -hate- the fiend so much...and yet at the very very end his death is indeed quite sad...pitiful, yes...but sad.

Don't you guys think that whole Envy, not only as a character, was made to symbolise Ed's and Alphonse's jealousy of healthy bodies and normal life. And our's envy - of Elric's great goal.

@oceansoul0403 Wrath did love his wife, or at least have feelings towards her. SPOILER: Lan Fan tells him that he has lived a sad life and asks if Wrath truly loved anyone, or if his life was indeed a sad one; she means to injure him further before he can die. Wrath however tells Lan Fan not to utter such words when she knows so little. He tells her that his wife was chosen by him, and as such, he truly cared for her.

I love it how even though Envy was so evil and diabolical, and pretty much everyone who watches the show wants him to die, they turned his death into something emotional. Like, kind of a tear-jerker, even though we all hated him.

Lan Fan asked him if he had any last words for her knowing that she'd learn about him being a homunculus and he says no, adding that she doesn't need to know about him because "that is how it is between a king and his partner".
You know, I played this after my father lost my job as a principal and got transfer to other school as normal teacher. It makes me angry and sad, and I want to cry.

@Voblast Father, the main villain of the series, freed himself of all of these sins. Despite that, he still managed to be the most foul creature of them all. No one is perfect.

Not so, he is laziness incarnate. Moving around, even thinking, he found bothersome. His ideal existence would be something where he had to put forth no effort, didn't have to think, didn't have to move, didn't have to listen to people, didn't have to talk, etc etc.
The only thing which would satisfy this void that he was feeling, was ultimately death. Is death not eternal rest? That's probably the only thing that would "complete" sloth.
We can all agree that n the end, somehow we all got ripped in pieces by the sadness....to me the worst ones were envy and dwarf...they got demolished in emotions :(
