- Our very own Duck Commander Mark Gilchrist is out in the North Kent Marshes, created by the Thames Estuary and the River Medway, and where London Mayor Boris Johnson wants to build the 'Boris Island' fourth London airport. He is going duck shooting with a few friends between the tides. It's an early start and a boat ride to the muddy heaven - a place for waders and warm clothing. Privileged to have Shot here on alternate Saturdays in season as part of the Chatham Garrison military shoot in the 80s . The chaos of getting the dogs off the boat , waiting in the dark on the mud . Then a long day of intermittent bursts of teal and wigeon + an odd shoveler pintail or pintail . Arriving back at Sheerness in the pub for a quick pint and drive home . Oh to be young again . This Video is exactly as it was .
A bag of 70 ducks is far too excessive, not a good lesson to youngsters. This is duck shooting, not wildfowling.

Wouldn't be my cup of tea. Far to many artificial lights and industrial buildings. Wildfowling for me is getting away from all that to wild and desolate places. Plus to many ducks taken for my liking.

I'm from the states, do they have bag limits in the UK or is it up to the discretion of the landowner? It's so strange to me that you guys have no public hunting lands. Cheers
There is no public land in the uk Paul. However you can shoot or fish between high and low water which is called the crown foreshore. Unfortunately to gain access most times you have to cross private land and thats ths rub. There are no limits on any game or fowl here and certainly no fish or game wardens as you guys have. In fact as long as you have a shot gun licence there is no checks or enforcement at all. In many ways our firearms laws are strict but in others not.
Plus, there are limited species you can shoot. We can't take brent but have hundreds of thousands here each winter

Duck season here in the US starts early this year! Blasting ducks by this time next week! Great video.
