Her voice is fabulous here. I saw them in Newcastle very shortly after this show, 42 years ago! And I've still got my poster of Debbie hidden in the loft where my wife can't find it, don't want any awkward arguments about who is my number 1.
It's like falling in love with this band and, of course, Debbie Harry all over again. When she wiped herself down with those two scarves and threw them into the audience, I would've passed out from joy right on the spot if I had been fortunate enough to catch one.
This show got both me and my mother into Blondie, several decades apart - as a kid, she was allowed to stay up later to watch New Years stuff, including this, which hooked her in. Then when I was in secondary school, it was mufti day and a girl I liked at the time was wearing a Blondie t-shirt. I remembered seeing the name Blondie on the tape my mum made of this show, so I played it so I could see what the music was like, and got hooked myself :)
What a band! What a venue! The Apollo was a vortex. The balcony bounced like a base drum, and the front row of the auditorium was a turnstyle holding back back a Hampden crowd. Sucked the last dregs out of every performance. Ask Brian Ferry!
Once l had a love ...it was Blondie ....to crushing on ..that was divine ... Now and past l am so in love for all the times ! Blondie, and you and me that's good ! Oooh yeahhh ! Blondie, and you and me forever ...., yeaaaah ! ....Ououh ! Ouhhhh! ahaaa !....
The last song “Sunday Girl”, is obviously missing footage. You can see video footage taken from the previous performances used to fill in the gaps. Is there a more complete video of this performance?
Originally Old Grey Whistle Test broadcast this in 1979 live and was much longer than this upload,I do not think there is one on UA-cam that is longer sadly here is the set list for it in FULL........this and many other uploads start from Dreaming and not Denis as it should do Denis The Hardest Part Die Young, Stay Pretty Accidents Never Happen Victor Living in the Real World 7-Rooms of Gloom Eat to the Beat X Offender Dreaming Slow Motion Shayla Union City Blue Atomic Picture This Pretty Baby Heart of Glass Hanging on the Telephone Sunday Girl I Got You (I Feel Good) (James Brown cover) One Way or Another Here is an audio of the above set in full ua-cam.com/video/szYnkW-hYPA/v-deo.html
@@MrEchoes1962 Thanks! I never new they played that many songs! Too bad there is no video for the other songs because Deborah Harry looks and sounds good in this concert.
this version was aired at BS2, a japanese TV channel and the japanese characteres gave a quick band profile as band members and music chart infos. I watched others videos of same concert and for me, this one has the best sound quality.

Are you saying Ferry would say that the Glasgow Apollo was a great venue to play?
He said it many times. Watch the video of the opening number when they played the Apollo (I think it was the Take the High Road tour.)@@davidpope327

Debbie and Chris really good. But how did Frankie manage to make that thin scratchy tone through a JCM800? Sounds like a cheap practice amp.
