Who’s excited about project X shampoo and conditioner?!?!! Thanks for everything you all do for me. Without your help I would never be able to achieve something like this. My own shamp and conditioner?! Whaaaaa???? So hyped!! 💞💙
That’d be coool!!! I have super thick hair and never use heat protectant. Whenever I get my hair done, my stylist always tells me I have thick healthy strong hair sooo
Lee Bug you still need to protect your hair regardless or else eventually all the heat damage is gonna add up, especially if you either use heat often or don’t cut your hair regularly (meaning every 4-8 weeks)
I’m a chemist. It inserts intermediate molecules as a bridge to substitute the naturally occurring disulphide bonds. These bonds contribute to holding together proteins. Simply, it’s like scaffolding holding up a broken building.
What do you think about the brand Monat who claims to be vegan and doesn’t use chemicals? I feel as if your hair needs some chemicals in order for it not to break off..
@@stephanienorton5289 I've heard bad things about it from fellow cosmetologist. Use protien masks, heat protection, and olaplex if you can. Also use professional products to avoid wax build up on the hair, wax in cheap products will prevent your hair from absorbing what it needs.
*no one calls me beautiful except brad* **new video** *Brad: hey beautifull* *me: *smiles and tears of joy** Edit: thank you to everyone in the comment section for being so nice and supportive you guys are beautiful not just outside inside too! 🥺💗
I guess the conclusion is: - Nothing will save you from shedding if you bleach your hair. - A professional colorist who knows what they're doing can minimize the damage. - At the very least, the Olaplex can't hurt.
As someone who has bleached hair and my hairdresser uses olaplex for the last 3 months there’s a huge difference. My hair is not frizzy burnt anymore. It’s silky soft
THANK you. That's one of the things I was saying in my comment too. This only shows the immediate day one "feel" of the hair after its first bleaching, and not what happens over time with styling and whatnot, OR what happens through the upkeep that goes along with keeping dark hair blonde.
@JJ Email Ummm....no. I've tried EVERY miracle treatment so the placebo effect should've worked a long time ago. Olaplex gave me hair I never had before after the first treatment. How can you call VISIBLE less breakage, softness, and shine placebo effect?🙄 You obviously don't know the meaning of the term.
That's interesting, I found it made my hair grow quicker, used it many times, but it's never made my hair silky soft, and my hair is harder to style when I use it 😊
It can really make a huge difference for clients and people who’s hair is compromised, the difference won’t be as drastic on Hair that’s already relatively healthy. It’s basically a safety blanket for healthy hair, and a life-saver for any level of damaged/compromised hair.
Ashley Johnston my hair is damaged from heat. I dont dye my hair. Do you think it’ll be worst investing in this? I’ll appreciate your opinion. Thank you 🤗
Sahira Rodriguez heat can break bonds that hold together the hair just as badly as chemicals do. It’s a great investment ESPECIALLY if you’re a daily heat user! If your hair is going through any kind of “creative abuse” then it’s a good idea lol. Just remember it’s not a moisturizing mask, it’s a hair bonding agent so if you have dry brittle hair, use something that’s going to hydrate your hair as well because heat both breaks disulfide bonds as well as dry out the hair.
I've been bleaching my hair for over 10 years, and I used to have a lot of breakage. Once I started using Olaplex, I stopped getting excessive breakage. Just a note: Olaplex will not make your hair softer. It's not a conditioner! In fact, it can make your hair feel less soft, but the payoff is stronger hair.
Exactly! And maybe one time with plain bleach etc you’ll be fine, but repeated bleaching AND the feeling on your scalp, that’s when you notice a difference! I stan olaplex
@@autumnmarie8976 I love the oil. Have yet to try no 6 but a rep from Olaplex said to cocktail 6 and 7 for amazing results. I have yet to try but really want to soon.
It won't. My hair was severely damaged when I first got it bleached from black to silver three years back and even Olaplex treatments couldn't stop it from breaking off. Olaplex is a fucking miracle for preventing damage and keeping hair as healthy as possible while doing/after chemical processes, but once the hair is at a point where it's truly overprocessed, even Olaplex isn't going to bring it back.
My hair was literally breaking off when brushed, no matter how gentle, and Olaplex literally saved my hair. My daughter's hair was dyed blue (she was Corpse Bride for Halloween, and since her gown was made with real pearls and Victorian era lace, a very high-end gown, we decided to go big with her hair instead of the wig we got) with a temp Ion dye we didn't know was notorious for not coming out. Her hair is blonde. The blue didn't come out. We dyed it brown to try to cover the blue. The permanent brown faded before the blue did. We finally had to bleach her hair several times and Malibu it several times. We're talking hair on an 8-year-old's head. Her hair should have been fried by the time we did what was supposed to be impossible. We used Olaplex. It's still incredibly soft. So. Yes. This stuff works. ("We" refers to me fretting while her professional-hair-styling aunt, who chastised me for not consulting her before dying my munchkin's hair, did her work.)
If you want an awesome comparison on what olaplex can really do you should check our guy tang from pubes to paradise. He uses it to fix UA-camr glam and gore’s hair, her hair was literally so ruined she wore wigs for over a year because it was just a rats nest she couldn’t do anything to it because she fried it so bad.
Overprocessed hair is dead hair meaning it’s dead and it won’t come back there’s no saving it. You can make it feel and look better but in reality it’s still in the same condition
I've always used Olaplex. I rather use it and be safe then sorry. The owner does say it brings the Developer a level down. They also have an Ion version at Sally's that is the Olaplex dupe and would love to see a video on the two compared!
Low key great idea for a video. As professionals once you have your license and can buy from Cosmoprof, SalonCentric, and StateBeauty supply stores, Sally’s is no longer desirable in ANY way. However I would love to see how it stands up to Olaplex.
fun fact about olaplex, it’s a patented technology. so no one can replicate its formula and the L’oréal smart blonde is actually being taken off cosmo prof shelves because they took olaplex’s forumla so they got sued. anyways, any “dupes” of olaplex will never do what olaplex does! their technology is insane! very bias towards olaplex because olaplex is my life and savour 🙄
I wish Brad could tell us how he became Brad ... so inspiring as a person ... I love him as a person . I'm not into fashion nor trends but him being him makes me happy
There are some puzzle pieces here- his dad owned a salon when he was a kid and he first colored/had his hair changed when he was five or so: There were stylists at the salon who messed his hair up frequently
@Makeup Minion I'm classified as middle class and I dont have the money to buy a shampoo that size for that price with my hair length and type lmao. Wouldn't last me a month so as much as I love him I dont want to spend that all the time
Ladies, just for educational purposes, most professional shampoo/conditioner lines are typically retailed somewhere between $15-$30, for a bottle this size. The reason being that the ingredients are much more concentrated, so when used properly, you will use about 1/3 of what you might need from a drugstore brand.
@@domiroy3752 This isn't completely true. My hair esp will suck anything and everything up so whatever they recommend to use I usually have to double or triple it (in both name brand and drug store) it also goes without saying that with any professional brand you're also paying for the name as well. And while I'm sure they are fantastic products it's just not worth it in the long run when a cheaper alternative that does the same if not better exists.
I'd love a video where you test colored hair strands in different color care shampoos. Is there a difference between drugstore and high end for maintaining color? You could even try your new xmondo shampoo!!
Crazy request alert: would you by chance still have these hair pieces and be willing to send them to me?? My wife owns a salon but I work in a lab and would really like to examine the differences under a microscope! I would love to do this and share images of the differences.
Anna Webb this isn’t like a normal shampoo and conditioner a little goes a longggg way. My sister has a lot of long very thick frizzy hair and what she does is she uses it once a week kinda like a hair mask thing and it work well if you think you are wasting product.
Laura #honeybooboo I don’t see this comment anywhere else, and I genuinely just thought of it because I’m going to be bleaching my virgin hair and I’ve only ever bleached my hair when it’s been coloured... as if comment copying is a thing now omg 😂😭
@@Jemwithsprinkles69 Copying comments definitely is a thing now but this is just a normal comment everyone can think of out of their own interest. At this comment that guy complains about copying and where everyone copies everyone it doesn't matter smh
Don't skip all the way to the testing part. He does a voice over around the 5:10 mark, where he provides a pretty good explanation of what the product actually does. He summarizes it to make it quick, simple & understandable 🙂
A shampoo and conditioner created by an actual hair stylist who dedicated his career to healthy hair, um YES please! I’m so excited to try your products!😍
I am 63 years old and i have been loosing my hair for the last 10 years. I still have a lot hair but not compared like my younger years. Every time I washed my hair was really scary, I would lose so much hair at every wash. My hairdresser recommended Olaplex as a good shampoo that’s all. I bought it and have been used it since February of this year and just realized recently that I am no longer loosing so much hair when I shampoo or brushing. So for me it does really works.
Oh my goodness. I am in the same boat. I have always had fine hair but my hair stylist constantly commented about how much hair I had. Tons! I am now 60 and it started thinning massive amounts. I leave long strands of hair everywhere and globes in the shower. I have 1/3 the hair I used to and am ready to cry. My hair has also become dry and frizzy.
@@paisley1134 I feel the same way lately!! I’ve been using olaplex (what led me to this video, though I don’t color my hair) and keep seeing these “hair loss treatment” products that contain minoxidil. I haven’t purchased any yet but I think I might. I am only 36 but have noticed my hair coming out in clumps every time I brush or shower. At first, I thought it was just because I always had my hair in a ponytail, but I’ve gotten a lot better about that and it still seems so much thinner. I was forced to have a hysterectomy in 2018 due to chronic pelvic issues and things have been much better for the pain and issues, but I think the difference in hormones has contribute a lot.
Brad in all fairness - I think the hair that extensions are made from is generally stronger and thicker based on origin. Therefore Olaplex WILL make a much more massive difference is tested on fine thin and or damaged hair like mine. I have experienced this first hand.
I am not OP but yes, absolutely for me. I have type 2B curls and I completely lost my curl pattern due to hair dye, failing to take care of my hair properly, etc. My hair was also very brittle and felt straw-like. Olaplex 3 is the only product that restores my hair and makes it soft again. Nothing else works. I've literally tried all the expensive and cheap haircare products (including natural hair products) and nothing works like Olaplex.
So here is my story: I bleached my hair ONCE without any olaplex, my hair went from let's say a good quality to dry, frizzy, rough and damaged. It looked like a bomb just exploded in my hair. (My hair has never been silky smooth) After a year or so, I then bleached my hair 4 times, using olaplex, my hair was fine, no frizz, a little dry though but not as much as compared to when I did bleach without olaplex. It didn't fry either. I did had to cut like 2 inches of my hair because of the previous damage(they were dead(not fried!) So they were dry af like hay) And bare in mind my hair is level 2 asian hair. And I went blonde level 9 I suppose in a period of 2 weeks. I bleached my hair twice the first day and 2 weeks later twice again the same day. So in my opinion, olaplex does save hair.I'd recommend everyone to use it!
My Dad works for a massive company who does testing for the biggest hair brands, and he said you could get a microscope for 160$ (and up) to look at the bonds and compare. 40x and up you could see!
hairdye/bleach has a lot of learning with chemicals, but then when ya get to perms/straighteners... oh holy shit the chemical learning. Sometimes there be a fine line between a perfect perm and melting the hair off.
I think the type of hair used was really strong and healthy and able to endure several rounds of lightening. I would like to see this experiment on fine or compromised hair!
But you will need an electron transmission microscope or an electron scanning microscope to get an adequate magnification. With a light microscopes or even a digital LM you will not see much of the hair (you barely can see that there are cuticle cells overlapping). Those electron microscopes cost several million bucks. 🙃 But I guess you will just see deposited conditioning material of No2 and 3 if you try.
@@7kadenza762 I could explain the function and limits, but I have not much time atm. And I am no native speaker. 😉 I can try to translate a few main points from my original posts and give you some cross references from patents and literature.
Krr Brr it was long and i kinda have thick hair but not too bad, but i had to cut it shoulder length and rn my hair is naturally like a 5 but i’ve been highlighting it for the last couple of months
amanda marie okay gurl now im giving you my secret. I have the same type of hair as you. First rule is you have to blow dry your hair nicely. Dont let it air dry. Then braid your hair every night. All of your problems ara gonna go away

I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the end of this video. I was fully expecting a huge Olaplex plug. I love that you were honest about it, I feel like 90% of hairdressers wouldn't be open-minded enough to even question Olaplex at all. I'm ready to bleach my hair but I can't afford Olaplex right now so I needed this info.
Its one thing to reverse damage its another thing to create it. Olaplex doesnt reverse damage thats already there. But it prevents serious damage being inlficted but all hair bleaching is damaging regardless
miz erie it doesn’t though. It’s a water based diluted formula. It allows your hair to become damaged and “reconnects” the bonds with their step two... you have to use the entire system to see results. But once your hair is damaged getting a cut is truly the only way to prevent more breakage. I say it’s like putting on a bandage it will only hold together for so long if your try to fix it with products.
@@Kuriousspirit I know. But, seems like he needs to show those people. Because he always posts videos of people bleaching past repare and they get mad because they used it and it didn't "save their hair" and he needs to show them that it doesn't save the hair once its fried.
I watch so many big name UA-camrs and I swear mondo is the ONLY one who act genuine . Like he’s just genuinely his goofy funny self . You don’t feel like he’s laying it on super thick ... I honestly enjoy watching him so much ... Stay your beautiful self mondo 😘
He's stated before that he doesn't believe that giving your hair a "rest day" between bleaching will really do anything. And I mean... What WOULD it do? Any oil will just stay at your scalp, and hair is dead anyway, so it's not like it needs a break to breathe or regenerate or anything. It all depends on genetically how fragile your hair is. If it's strong and can stay bonded while bleach has to "break through" to lift pigment out, then great. If it's thin and brittle and will break while bleach breaks through to lift pigment, then it doesn't matter how many days of rest you give your hair, it was just built to break. :(
Olaplex was first released while I was in cosmetology school - I remember so many people (even my main instructor) confusing the fact that it acts as a BUFFER to leave a little room for error, and not that it PREVENTS damage and breakage all together.
I think the real magic and difference when using Olaplex is when you are using it on already damaged hair. I've seen it in action with my friend who damaged her hair with so much bleaching and coloring over and over often. After the first time they used olaplex in the process, her hair looked so much better. Of course, the hair on the ends were more fried than a carnival treat, so that needed to be cut off. But, the damage was all throughout her 28" hair up to 2-3" of her roots. We cut off 5 inches, and the rest of her hair was gorgeous and remarkably improved.
I got a something from the Aussie brand at Target. It's called "Total Miracle Heat Protecting Spray" It has apricot and macadamia oil in it. It seems to work and smells really good. : )
I love Olaplex! They both look similar but I think it depends on how compromised a clients hair already is originally. Those two pieces that you used were both in the same condition when you started so I think that is why they were in very similar condition when you finished. Thank you so much for making these videos as I LOVE your channel so much!!☺💛🌺
I had an olaplex treatment in the bleach, with an olaplex treatment after colouring at the salon and bought the no.3 and shampoo and conditioner and my hair is almost just as healthy as before I bleached it. When I bleached my hair years ago at the salon without olaplex, it was very damaged. It really is an Absolute hair saver and must have if you’re planning to dye your hair
Your an amazingly amazing man ! Thank you for being you, your guarantee to cheer me up whenever I feel down .. watching the hair fails, makes me feel great about my choice to NEVER bleach my own hair ! Much love to you from England xx
My sister (who is a cosmetologist) swears by Olaplex and has used it on my head numerous times. I can definitely feel the positive difference between other products and Olaplex.
Olaplex replaces bonds that are broken during the lightening process, any oil just coats the hair which makes the bleach just a LITTLE less abrasive bc it's an extra layer on top of the cuticle
I don't bleach my hair - but I used to use coconut oil when I coloured my hair, or when I had damaged hair, and it doesn't really work that well. The main thing that it did for me was that my hair grew faster. I switched to olaplex and use a small amount each week (so that I can use a bottle at least 4-6 weeks) and it works way better. The last time I cut my hair was in April, and while I do have some split ends, it is 1/10 of what it used to be (I had issues with hair breakage)
From personal experience I'd day the coconut oil helps with lessening the damage and olaplex repairs the hair. It does two different things. The coconut oil definitely helps though. I have a lot less breakage when lightening with it
Your description of the bonds in hair is adequate. We science people aren’t gonna come for you. Disulfide bonds are important in hair (they occur between cysteine residues in proteins, like keratin in hair). You made it easy for those without a science background to understand 😁
joslyn Not sure of your hair type, but it’s kinda different if you have Afro hair. I have curly 3c hair and when my hair was damaged and I straightened it, the split ends stood out a lot as the breakage was at different lengths causing my hair to look choppy. When my hair was curly and damaged, it all blended in and my hair looked healthy. Same with others I know, tbh.
@@sauucedsuubliminals7185 - I am somewhat the same. I have this awful texture of cotton candy. 70% curls and the damaged ends blend, but the frizz! The other 30% just looks limp and tired and the frizz! I have yet to find *anything* to help with the frizz for more than an hour post shower. I have been flat ironing when I have the patience, but honestly, my hair is always up. No one knows how long it is. Even my mom will ask once in a while. Do you know of anything? What is curly 3c? How do I find out what I have? Sorry for such a lengthy comment! =)
Katrina C Katrina C By limp do you mean that you are losing your curl pattern? If so Calcium bentonite Clay (Aztec healing clay) really helped to bring back my curl pattern and it is also a natural resource from the earth and only consists of one ingredient vs the normal 10+ products and if you find it drying, you can add oils to the mixture. If you don’t wanna use bentonite clay, then look into the aphogee 2 step protein treatment as this is very good at reconstructing your curl pattern, too and they are both very good at repairing hair. For frizz, this starts from your wash routine!! Work the shampoo into wet hair in sections, don’t rub your hair together vigorously - just massage it gently. You can also apply oil 20-30mins before shampooing so that your hair isn’t stripped of moisture. Also deep condition with heat!! Whether it’s under a dryer or you use a shower cap to trap the heat in, this will open up your hair strand to allow moisture to get in. My favourite deep conditioners are by Shea moisture. One is the Manuka honey Mafura oil intensive hydration masque and the other is the Shea moisture black Castor oil strengthen and restore treatment mask. I leave the mask on for 1 hour under a shower cap with braided or twisted hair and rinse. Don’t towel try as this can cause breakage and frizz. Instead use a micro fibre towel or an old t-shirt or even let hair air dry. When moisturising, use a liquid such as a leave in conditioning spray, a cream such as a as thicker curl cream that will clump your hair together and then seal the moisture with an oil such as Castor oil. When your curls are clumped together, they are often more defined and less likely to look frizzy, so detangle by hand or find a brush like a denman brush that will smooth your curls together. If you need to separate any huge clumps, wait until your hair is dry so that you don’t disrupt the curl pattern as your hair is drying. Once it’s dry, do NOT attempt to brush it or comb it as this will cause more breakage as we have little to no slip on dry hair. Also, you can find out your curl pattern/hair type through videos on UA-cam or you can go on google images and find reference charts. Also find out your hair porosity! This will help you to figure out what methods and products your hair needs. Im not sure if I’ve missed anything, so feel free to ask more questions! Sorry for the long reply! Hope I’ve helped
As much as I have been wanting and needing to get a makeover done by you, I recently shaved my head so my hair is like 3 inches long right now so there's not much to be done with it... My hair falls out so badly because of a medical condition and I got tired of constantly being covered in loose hairs, so I was hoping that when it grew back that maybe it wouldn't fall out as bad when it grows out. But in the future, if you choose to do another giveaway or even just more makeovers, I'll definitely be sending in a video submission or what ever the application process is for these. And I'm definitely going to try out Olaplex after shampooing to see if that helps with my hair loss.
I went from box dye black to blonde with olaplex. Used it every session and the after care regularly. It was fine for a few months. A year later, it all broke off. I lost about 10 inches of hair. It doesn’t matter what product you use, you can’t prevent damage when you bleach and you can’t repair it either. If you insist on lightening, consider how much you’ve treated your hair already and prepare to lose some. I wish I just appreciated my butt length, dark hair when I had it. That is my personal experience, it will be different for every type of hair and how it’s been treated. 👍
Yes you can, I have bleach my hair for over 12 years now, the thing that's important is to. change the products up, one /one wash whit Olaplex and the other week use Moisturizer mask - Shampoo and conditioner 🙋🏼♀️ That's saved my hair and I have alot of it and down to my under bubs 🙌🏼😇😄 If you only use products whit protein it will break of in the end 😫 so it's very important to switch them around moister one time or more and then a wash whit the proteins 🥰🙌🏼
I’ve tried function of beauty twice & I’ve been majorly disappointed both times. It was surprising because everyone seems to love it. Salon shampoo is the only thing I find really makes a difference
Most UA-camrs are getting paid lots of money to promote it And let's face it, we need stuff that works not promoting others to keep getting free stuff Save your money
Mine seemed like any old pharmacy brand s&c except it had a lighter scent. Not bad, but not great. Plus I cancelled my order way before time and they insisted on sending it anyway. After I kicked off, they refunded me, but I wasn’t amused at having to kick off.
I love that you did this!! Love your channel. I’m a huge believer in olaplex. I’ve had my hair professionally (and ever so carefully) lightened for years, and I’ve used olaplex in my lightener and no 2/3 for years. Now that I’m a professional stylist, I also use olaplex with all my lightener services. Whenever I was in hair school a couple of years ago, I was really struggling financially due to the fact that I could only work weekends. I decided that olaplex might be something that I could live without for a bit. Around this time, my stylist also decided to try the t3 bonder instead of olaplex.. so no more olaplex no 1 or no 2/3. When I tell you that my hair went to shit in only a few short months without olaplex.. I mean it. My hair is naturally curly/ wavy.. so I pretty much have to round brush my hair a bit (after I get it mostly dry) and use an iron on low heat. My hair started breaking off like crazy.. my round brushes (of which I’m extremely gentle with on my compromised hair) began filling up like never before. I was constantly finding myself covered in little broken off hairs. It was awful. I had to do a shadow root for over a year to get some new growth back, and I had to have about 3 inches cut off of my hair. I mean, maybe if I didn’t have to use heat on my hair at all, it wouldn’t have been SO bad? I don’t know. All I know is that I will starve before I EVER deprive my hair of olaplex again! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Doesnt that just mean that olaplex is temporary and the bonds wear out? The patent for the active ingredient says that results will wear out in about 2 weeks to a month. Seems to me like Olaplex just delays breakage until you stop buying.
@@personmcdudeguy Who knows. I haven’t stayed on top of using it on myself at home anymore.. I really just use it in my lightener and right after lightening. My hair has grown like crazy though and is healthier than ever.. no breakage.. and my new growth is still bleached every 6 weeks.

Me: just bought olaplex and used it today for the first time, really excited Brad: dOES OLAPLEX ReALLY WORK???! Me: ..... i swear if he's going to say that it's not working im-
Hümeyra Ceylan I bleach my own as well as my friends hair almost platinum to do bright colors all the time and I will say from experience that it does work. I’ve been using it for years. Now if you are expecting completely healthy shiny virgin hair, no you’re not going to get that. But if you are looking for less damage, less breakage and softer/healthier hair than what you would have after bleaching normally, then yes it works. Now, I bleach my hair all the time for crazy colors with 30 and mostly 40 developers and I leave it on til it’s lifted all the way rather than double processing my hair and my hair is still soft and hairdressers are always amazed at how healthy my hair is. But I also don’t use sulphates, parabens, silicones, etc. as being a curly girl. But I condition my hair well and often, rarely heat style or blow dry, use T-shirt’s rather than towels, satin pillowcases, etc,. Just take care of my hair in general other than the bleaching. I also only bleach when my roots are about 2in, so not that often, and only the part that needs bleached. Anyway, my point is that the combination of Olaplex 1&2 along with other healthy hair regimes work.

Olaplex is a bond builder, not a conditioner. It helps your hair from snapping off in clumps. You really see the difference on customers who regularly change their hair bc their hair is always compromised but doesn’t really seem to ever come out in gummy clumps
Right everyone chill, I don’t know if she was meaning it in a romantic like ‘I’ve got a crush on you’ way or she was commenting on his looks. Seen as the spelling and the capitalisation is a bit confusing.
It’s been my experience with olaplex that let’s say you normally use 20 vol, then you really need to use 30. 30 you need to up it to 40. I quit olaplex and now prefer the redken flash lift with bonder built in. I love it. You do have to process it longer. I use it on a client 30 vol on scalp so I don’t want to go with a high vol. the biggest difference is now the hair feels over time. I noticed with my clients that their hair feels better in the long term. I’d love to see a olaplex vs the flash lift with bonder to see. Love love love your videos
@@djangodakoti5242 Maybe for some that's cheap, but 8oz for 25 is a lot and its not silicone free, which matters to some. I'll stick to my 12 dollar 16oz shea moisture brand.
I think it’s a reasonable price. I currently use Olaplex shampoo and conditioner and they’re $28 for 8.5oz / 250mL. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week and my hair isn’t very long, so based off how the product is getting consumed the whole bottles will end up lasting a year at least. It is still more expensive than some drugstore brands and Costco but it’s not unreasonable.
Katharina G. Do you like the olaplex shampoo? I’ve always wanted to try their brand, but never had the courage to spend the money, especially after this video.

That's already been done by another popular youtuber: milabu
Lee Bug you still need to protect your hair regardless or else eventually all the heat damage is gonna add up, especially if you either use heat often or don’t cut your hair regularly (meaning every 4-8 weeks)
Lee Bug same I dye my hair and never ever use heat protectant and my hair is fine

Stephy D Nortino good question!
@@stephanienorton5289 I've heard bad things about it from fellow cosmetologist. Use protien masks, heat protection, and olaplex if you can. Also use professional products to avoid wax build up on the hair, wax in cheap products will prevent your hair from absorbing what it needs.

I guess the conclusion is:
- Nothing will save you from shedding if you bleach your hair.
- A professional colorist who knows what they're doing can minimize the damage.
- At the very least, the Olaplex can't hurt.
It hurts my wallet 😥
Doesn't any color make you shed ?
Bleach is the devil.
Doing God’s work over here 🙏 thank you queen

@JJ Email lol nah
@@cfoster6804 i agree. I hv used Olaplex no 3 on my curly hair and I can tell the difference.
That's interesting, I found it made my hair grow quicker, used it many times, but it's never made my hair silky soft, and my hair is harder to style when I use it 😊
Olaplex is life! It saved my hair from the hair stylist who fried it! I use it on all my clients from here on out and my self
I think it didn't repair it or sth, just make it smoother bc dead hair stays dead but I'm not a specialist.
All hair is dead.

@@elynnr love that! Ya. I have fun with my own hair as well. (It's different then my pic)
Thank you 🤗
Sahira Rodriguez yes!! Any damage x
Sahira Rodriguez heat can break bonds that hold together the hair just as badly as chemicals do. It’s a great investment ESPECIALLY if you’re a daily heat user! If your hair is going through any kind of “creative abuse” then it’s a good idea lol. Just remember it’s not a moisturizing mask, it’s a hair bonding agent so if you have dry brittle hair, use something that’s going to hydrate your hair as well because heat both breaks disulfide bonds as well as dry out the hair.
abi everett thank you 💕
Ashley Johnston thank you very much for explaining it to me. Its much more clear now. Once again thank you 🤗💕
I've been bleaching my hair for over 10 years, and I used to have a lot of breakage.
I stan olaplex
do you use the no 6 cause that’ll make your hair softer after showering! it’s a leave in/ bond builder :)
@@autumnmarie8976 I haven't used it yet! I did just order the new No. 7 bonding oil from Sephora though. It's also a leave in
Julie McLean I want to try the oil so bad! I recommend no 6 though it’s amazing and has made my split ends look less visible I love it.
@@autumnmarie8976 I love the oil. Have yet to try no 6 but a rep from Olaplex said to cocktail 6 and 7 for amazing results. I have yet to try but really want to soon.
You should over process the hair and then see if olaplex will help it come back (yes, I do know you can’t fully bring back severely bleached hair).
There’s no such thing as “coming back” after over processing. Even with olaplex.
What's it called?
angellerde Ion absolute perfection booster.. I believe.
Low key great idea for a video. As professionals once you have your license and can buy from Cosmoprof, SalonCentric, and StateBeauty supply stores, Sally’s is no longer desirable in ANY way. However I would love to see how it stands up to Olaplex.
Momma2thewilds apparently the new formula of olaplex no longer needs to bump the developer up, since you now use way less olaplex than you used to
fun fact about olaplex, it’s a patented technology. so no one can replicate its formula and the L’oréal smart blonde is actually being taken off cosmo prof shelves because they took olaplex’s forumla so they got sued. anyways, any “dupes” of olaplex will never do what olaplex does! their technology is insane! very bias towards olaplex because olaplex is my life and savour 🙄

A shampoo and conditioner created by an actual hair stylist who dedicated his career to healthy hair, um YES please! I’m so excited to try your products!😍
As opposed to... ? You realise the majority of shampoo and conditioners, especially those in salons, are developed by hairdressers?
The 'difference' was a GOOD result for you?
I am not OP but yes, absolutely for me. I have type 2B curls and I completely lost my curl pattern due to hair dye, failing to take care of my hair properly, etc. My hair was also very brittle and felt straw-like. Olaplex 3 is the only product that restores my hair and makes it soft again. Nothing else works. I've literally tried all the expensive and cheap haircare products (including natural hair products) and nothing works like Olaplex.

“This is cool. This is science. This is hair coloring.” - Brad Mondo 2019
That shirt you’re wearing is literally everything!
So here is my story:
I bleached my hair ONCE without any olaplex, my hair went from let's say a good quality to dry, frizzy, rough and damaged. It looked like a bomb just exploded in my hair. (My hair has never been silky smooth)
After a year or so, I then bleached my hair 4 times, using olaplex, my hair was fine, no frizz, a little dry though but not as much as compared to when I did bleach without olaplex.
This is satire right?
@@echastee why do you think it is? Just asking of curiousity, I never used olaplex.
My Dad works for a massive company who does testing for the biggest hair brands, and he said you could get a microscope for 160$ (and up) to look at the bonds and compare. 40x and up you could see!
I’ve never realized how much chemistry goes into hairdressing until this past month
Honestly, neither do a lot of hairdressers
Anna Bernick unexpected chapters in a Cosmo textbook include but aren’t limited to: chemistry, anatomy, electricity, and history!
hairdye/bleach has a lot of learning with chemicals, but then when ya get to perms/straighteners... oh holy shit the chemical learning. Sometimes there be a fine line between a perfect perm and melting the hair off.

Great idea! Don’t need a scientist though. Just a microscope.
Definitely get a chemist so they can explain the bonds/mechanisms/what that means for the hair. I'd be all over that video 😁
But you will need an electron transmission microscope or an electron scanning microscope to get an adequate magnification. With a light microscopes or even a digital LM you will not see much of the hair (you barely can see that there are cuticle cells overlapping).
Olaplex can’t rebuild disulfide bonds if there’s nothing to build. It’s a great help, but it’s not a miracle if the hair is that abused.
brad says often that there is no way to repair the hair after bleach, once it's done it's done
@@Kuriousspirit I know. But, seems like he needs to show those people. Because he always posts videos of people bleaching past repare and they get mad because they used it and it didn't "save their hair" and he needs to show them that it doesn't save the hair once its fried.

Don't do it!

Yes i agree, a test needs to be done on damaged hair too.

I heard coconut oil work just as fine when bleaching your hair; is that a myth? If yes can we debunk it?
Oh i heard of that , im not really sure though
I always use coconut oil when I’m bleaching my hair 😊
I'm guessing olaplex is basically duct tape for the broken bonds in your hair?

My damaged hair looks better after flat ironing, it looks it's worst after I blow dry it 😭😂
joslyn Not sure of your hair type, but it’s kinda different if you have Afro hair.
Katrina C Also, cut back on flat ironing as you will make your hair concerns worse in the long run!
I’m 11 so I don’t know what your talking bout but still love your videos
This is the most wholesome comment I've ever seen
Awww ilyyy
Aww that’s so nice
lol me but i’m 24
Shelby Marie oh my gosh this is so cute.
Olaplex saved my friend's hair from continuing to break off
She had bleached her hair many times
And now it feels strong and soft♡
Olaplex 3 saved it!
Eric: “can we get a Nintendo switch now?”
Me: “mom can we get ice cream now?”
You should review "function of beauty" next!!
I’ve tried function of beauty twice & I’ve been majorly disappointed both times. It was surprising because everyone seems to love it. Salon shampoo is the only thing I find really makes a difference
Liz Braun I was the same, I was very disappointed with the results, kinda regret buying them
I feel like any company that does mass partnerships with you tubers is a sham
Most UA-camrs are getting paid lots of money to promote it
And let's face it, we need stuff that works not promoting others to keep getting free stuff
Save your money
I wish i could be in a Mondo make over but my broke ass can’t afford to go anywhere
Edit: Also wtf didn’t really expect people to like my comment thanks guys broke squad stays together 🥺😔✊🏻

last time i was this early brad had brown hair
Me: just bought olaplex and used it today for the first time, really excited
Brad: dOES OLAPLEX ReALLY WORK???!
Me: ..... i swear if he's going to say that it's not working im-
Hümeyra Ceylan I bleach my own as well as my friends hair almost platinum to do bright colors all the time and I will say from experience that it does work.
Didn’t work at all for me
@@Rose-oq2hn same :'))
Hümeyra Ceylan worked so well on my hair! My hair have never been so soft and shiny
Olaplex works for me
I love that I’ve been watching you since before 1M and you’re still the same happy cheery person ❤️
I love this intro “We’re gonna do something I’ve always wanted to do, I don’t even care if you like it.” 😆 Brad, you trip me out, too funny.

Love your explanation of the disulfide bonds. I have a batchelors degree in biology and have taken organic chemistry and biochemistry. The explanation of disulfide bonds was on point and still easy enough to understand for those without a science background. No one should come for you
But the point is, that the components used by Olaplex can not reconnect oxidatively broken disulfide bonds.
I think Olaplex is meant to strengthen the bonds over time too. Therefore allowing you to go blonder without the heavy damage
I feel like if my natural dark, curly, hair needed a doctor, it would be Brad Mondo in a heartbeat. I can’t count the amount of times your videos have saved my hair from some serious disasters. So thank you!
P.s. I also ordered your shampoo and conditioner bundle today with the super gloss goodies! It was shipped today and I can’t wait :)
Me: *spends $50 on shampoo and conditioner last week.
Brad: I’m releasing shampoo and conditioner.
Me: looks like I’ll be spending $100 on shampoo and conditioner this month. 😂
omg same tho
Omg I'm on a Brad Mondo marathon I loooove your personality. No only very informative but also so much fun!
Is it weird to say, that i am always excited to see your videos just to see what outfit you will have for that day ? I LOVE your style ! Love your videos as well :D
Congrats with your line!
I love your honesty and enthusiasm for your trade so much.
It really makes a difference watching someone who gives honest, proven information rather than someone who talks down at their subscribers under the guise of giving advice
Olaplex is a bond builder, not a conditioner. It helps your hair from snapping off in clumps. You really see the difference on customers who regularly change their hair bc their hair is always compromised but doesn’t really seem to ever come out in gummy clumps
Facial expressions are so cute. I appreciated the hair loss test. Got some good laugh, I enjoyed it and got some info I needed.
MA GAWD. WHY ARE YOU SO FREAKING HANDSOME?!
Lauren Williams they can still say he’s handsome though lol
@@renannaw He can still be handsome
@@renannaw i know he is so fine!!!! Gay or not he is HANDSOME AF
Lauren Williams I know, but still
Right everyone chill, I don’t know if she was meaning it in a romantic like ‘I’ve got a crush on you’ way or she was commenting on his looks. Seen as the spelling and the capitalisation is a bit confusing.
stealing this for a science fair project. love you babe ❤️❤️
deadass my day has been so shitty today, that intro made me smile :) thank you for always helping me keep my head up💞 i love youuu
Love your personality and also how you are sincerely grateful for your achievements.
Only a mad hair scientist would match their gloves to their workspace ❤
It’s been my experience with olaplex that let’s say you normally use 20 vol, then you really need to use 30. 30 you need to up it to 40. I quit olaplex and now prefer the redken flash lift with bonder built in. I love it. You do have to process it longer. I use it on a client 30 vol on scalp so I don’t want to go with a high vol. the biggest difference is now the hair feels over time. I noticed with my clients that their hair feels better in the long term.
I’d love to see a olaplex vs the flash lift with bonder to see.
Love love love your videos
Yeppp
Me: watching Brad MOndo bleaching sum hair
Me: brakdown time
Me: let's shave my head
Obviously, I really enjoy the content, but also I find myself excited to see what outfit/hairstyle you are wearing in your videos!
Brad: Announcing his shampoo and conditioner
Me: Ohhh I think I may get that
Brad: *says the price*
Me: and I- oop nvm
Same
Katharina G. Do you like the olaplex shampoo? I’ve always wanted to try their brand, but never had the courage to spend the money, especially after this video.
Stanky Bathrooms I really like it! I’ve been using it for quite a while now and I think that the condition of my hair has improved. I like the smell and the way the products work in my hair.
