The Book of Boba Fett just gave us pretty much every Star Wars Easter Egg ever. The Mandalorian Din Djarin tries to reunite with Grogu at Luke’s new Jedi academy, but runs headlong into the Jedi’s rules of detachment.
But we get to see Luke Skywalker (still in his Return of the Jedi outfit) training Grogu, with the advice from Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka drops hints about Anakin Skywalker and the Clone Wars-overall, seems like she’s pretty content. Many of Luke’s lessons mirror those of Master Yoda-and the episode ends with Luke revealing Yoda’s old lightsaber.
We see the construction of the new Jedi temple that was destroyed in the Last Jedi flashbacks. And Grogu flashes back in a dream sequence (framed like Anakin’s nightmares) that shows us the horror of Revenge of the Sith’s order 66 firstand.
Back on Tatooine, Cobb Vanth returns to challenge the rule of the Pyke Syndicate, which brings him face to face with Sepratist Bounty Hunter Cad Bane. What an episode!
Meanwhile, Fennec Shand and Boba Fett prepare their assault on the Pykes, with the help of Wookie Black Krrsstan, the Mods, a Rancor, and who knows-maybe Luke Skywalker will show up for the endgame.

The episode begins in Freetown, which we last saw in the mandalorian chapter 9. You remember, Mando helps Cobb Vanth and the tuskens to kill a krayt dragon. But now that Cobb vanth doesn’t have Boba Fett’s armor, I was genuinely afraid for him the entire episode.
Cobb Vanth first debuted in the interludes of Chuck Wendig's aftermath novels, showing what happened in the wake of Return of the Jedi.
The chapter opens with the spinning of a moisture vaporator, reminiscent of an old western trope of the spinning windmill being the only sound in the wilderness before a showdown.
Then we meet up with the Pykes in the middle of a spice deal. In the Clone wars and in solo, we see that the Pykes have pretty much cornered the spice trade in the galaxy. Mining it from the kessel and then distributing it all around the galaxy themselves. These credits are inside of a canto, which is a fun star wars easter egg. This is modeled after a homemade ice cream maker that a background character named Willrow Hood was scarring in the empire strikes back. It’s become a fun underground cosplay, and star wars celebration features a running of the Wilrows
They’re driving an M-68 landspeeder, the same one Han uses in Solo.
This opening is important for a few reasons. It establishes the stacks for Freetown on mos eisley, that the pykes will eventually take over their community. It also shows that even without the armor, Cobb is a badass. Like Qui Gon said in the Phantom Menace, “There’s always a bigger fish.”
The episode is called From the Desert Comes a Stranger and it has a couple meanings. One stranger from the desert is Diun Djarin, who just arrived from Tatooine. But mostly it refers to Cad Bane.
This episode was directed by Dave Filoni, who created Ahsoka Tano for the Clone Wars movie, and is going to be spearheading the Ahsoka series.
The episode is in the 2 genres that run deepest in the DNA of Star wars. There is the classic western, and a samurai film, with Luke sharing eastern teachings with his pupil Grogu. The planet is even filled with bamboo, which mostly grows in Asia.
Luke training his students on a lush green world seems like a nod to his Jedi academy in the legends novels, which was originally built on Yavin 4, the rebel base from a new hope.
So this planet where Luke is building his jedi school is called Elphrona. We saw it in the flashbacks of the sequel trilogy, and in the comic book The rise of kylo ren. That comic details what happened after Ben fled the temple, and shows his first steps in joining Snoke and the Knights of ren.
We see that most of Luke’s padawans were very young, or children. And, after ben collapsed the hut on Luke, he didn;t go ona murder spree. He looked at the temple, and a red cloud formed, and lightning struck the temple, killing everyone inside. So it’s implied that it was actually Palpatine/Snoke who did the murdering.

Grogu will keep training with Luke, but something will happen to Din (Darksaber), Grogu will sense it and drop his training to go help his dad! That will affect how Luke trains his new students and that will result in episode VIII. Grogu is also a foundling, so he’ll search the mandalorians and do his vows becoming a mandalorian. Grogu will eventually find who took the Darksaber and win it in combat, turning him the next leader of the mandalorians. Imagine Palo turning his floating chair into a weapons platform! Grogu fits perfectly as the next leader! Bring the story full circle. A mandalorian Jedi created their society as they know it today, so it makes sense that another mandalorian Jedi would bring them back to their former glory. Grogu being long lived also helps in maintaining the continuation of the new Madalor! They made a point to have Din tell Ashoka “it is his right”.
My Mom
The Return of Max Rebo
If you really think about… either option for Grogu. Is a money maker for Disney. In all fairness though the part of grogu levitating is to fill that droid opening. Also in a way the fact the deputy was there. If you look at way Cobb turned as shots were fired, he was more worried the deputy was gonna get shot. Which in turn saved his life and motivated the town. I’m just gonna say it. I bet Grogu will help Din learn the dark saber. Not entirely like a master, but in the sense of giving inner strength to Din. He missed the little guy to which added to the weight of the blade.
The amount of cameos in this episode was unreal. Bane, Luke, The Marshall, Grogu, Ahsoka, and we even got to see Boba Fett and Fennec Stand in a show they are supposed to be main characters in.
LMFAOO
OKAY BUT I GOTTA RESPECT THE FACT THAT THIS 8S A AMAZING EPISODE
A costumer walks in a Disney store and asks the vendor:
Do you have the book of Boba Fett?
Vendor: no, only the mandalorian!
Customer: but, I....
Vendor: NO! This is the way!
Customer: this is the way!
R2-D2 also
Isn't it ironic that the series is called the book of Boba Fett, and yet the best episodes are when Boba barely shows up?
Who would have ever thought we'd get a show where Cad Bane and Luke are both in it. Simply amazing.
Hallelujah!
I def knew it was gonna happen eventually. All these IPs are driven by the most ardent & ridiculous fan service; the fact that anything from any live-action IP exploitation is watchable at all, & sometimes even good or just great, is what is really amazing.
And both being in live action 🙌
And that Cad Bane would overshadow Luke!
or see a Mandalorian in a Naboo star fighter cruising through Anakin's pod racing stomping grounds
In the Phantom Menace, the N1 screens turn from red to blue when Anakin manages to find the button to turn off the autopilot and take manual control. Without the droid port, Din's modified ship will always be manual, hence the blue. Ridiculously specific consistency like this is one of the many things I love about big universes like Star Wars and the MCU
I love the consistency, it makes the universe feel alive. Hat off to the creatives around these shows.
Holy shit... Nice catch. I hope Ryan catches your comment and adds it to his next video. Fantastic!
You're absolutely right. HOWEVER, the screens on the left and right are reversed in the Mandalorian's craft. Custom! :)
I can take no credit for this observation, it comes to us courtesy of the New Rockstars.
Beat me to it, but you’re 100% correct!
I came here to comment that 🤣🤣🤣 GJ man gg
Luke telling Grogu to jump followed by just the tiniest hop made me unreasonably happy
As soon as Luke started running with Grogu on his back I was yelling "Do a flip!!"
They did not disappoint.
I want that somehow Grogu becomes a mandalorian and a jedi
Ditto
that'll be where it does i reckon, mini dark sabre and all
I think that's exactly what'll happen.
Tarre Vizla and Grogu, two Mandalorian Jedi.
This is the way.
Same here!
With all those clone wars easter eggs, I was kinda hoping Hondo and his pirate gang would be available from a nearby star system for Boba when mentioned they needed foot soldiers.
I would _love_ to see Hondo in either BoBF or Mandalorian
That would be amazing
I've been waiting for Hondo each episode.
In Rebels "Hondo" became an extended member of The Ghost Crew. Thus the Ahsoka series (Rebel's sequel). He most likely will cameo again.
I can't help but think that we haven't seen the last of the surviving Tusken tribes.
@@jessefirman48 I...am confused as to why you @'d me on this? I love John 3:16, but that doesn't seem to have much to do with the topic at hand?

_The Mandalorian_ and _The Book of Boba Fett_ are probably my favorite Star Wars media ever. The attention to detail, respect for the source material and overall amazing cast, writing and acting is a joy to watch.
Except the teenage biker idiots
You could hear the emotion in Mando’s voice when he told Ahsoka that he came all that way to see Grogu. Very similar to the last ep of mando S2 when he tells Grogu it’s time to go with Luke😭😭😭
I cried.
I'm not crying, you're crying! 😭
I can't stop crying over this. Just let him see the child
t'was raining inside his helmet, I suspect.
The circle is now complete. Dave Filoni is the master.
He and Jon should have been behind the sequel trilogy. I hate that they went into it without much of a plan.
@@michaeladams1523 idk they writing in my opinions has been terrible in book of boba so far. Like Luke telling grogu that friendship isn’t the Jedi way? And turning the Naboo fighter into a muscle car? And that god awful power ranger ninja fight scene in episode 1, and how boba fett feels like an old fart lol. Idk really missed the mark for me in a lot of ways

This is the way
I feel like they hinted at Grogu's future by replacing the R2 unit's spot on Mando's new ship to a glass dome. Grogu is totally gonna hang out in there and blow up ships with his mind. Bet me.
It’s obvious that at 50 years old, Grogu is too old to train as a Jedi lol.
Yeah its too perfect to not be used at all in the next season
@@free99x eh? He was already trained, which Luke hinted at " I'm helping him remember" what he was already taught

Disney should make a series that retcons the entire sequel trilogy so it was all a dream of adventure and romance a lonely Rey was having based on stories of the rebellion lmfao.

Grogu is definitely going to choose the Mandalorian, hence why he's not in the sequels and why there's a little seat for him on Mando's ship.
Man I thought for sure he was going to take the saber but now I'm not too sure. I think you might be right.
And it's mentioned in this video that *Leia* became Luke's first student.
It’s not a coincidence that the spot for a droid in mando’s ship is empty, they made sure to mention that so I think that’s gonna be Grogu’s spot and he’ll choose Mando over the Jedi at least at the beginning. Hopefully he finds a way to blend the two
@@ajtmodelmaking It's a commentary on the Kennedyverse version of SW. We all know that's no longer canon. ;)
@@deepzone31 What? Filoni and Favreau said they will respect the sequels during production of season 1. Also Kennedy produces all of these shows, as she did the sequels. You are wrong on so many levels, my dear

Live action Cad Bane looks terrifying.
Tattooine's version of Longhorns on a Cadillac!
My theory is that when Ezra in Rebels took Ashoka from that duel with Vader there was an alternate reality created. This reality would not finish with the established cannon but could be a new Favreau/Filoni-verse. We could see the Legends side of the story.
i defo cried multiple times during this episode. Seeing a young luke skywalker in action and training grogu warmed my heart. This episode felt very star wars to me. I was curious as to how they would do a reunion of grogu and mando in a boba fett episode but after watching ep 6 to me i think that that mando will actually meet grogu face to face in season 3 of mandalorian.
That emotion is why the anti Disney starwars loving rebellion needs you Brother.. Don't stop until they scrub the sequels and KK...
The N-1 controls were red in The Phantom Menace because the ship was on autopilot. You can actually see them turn blue when R2 turns it off and gives manual control to Anakin.
So blue controls are manual control.
Yes! I was tempted to leave a comment about this as well, glad you beat me to it lol
Nice catch!
Luke running through the forest with Grogu on his back was extremely emotional, never did I ever think I would see something like that in this show. We seriously owe it to John Favereau and Dave Filoni for making Star Wars great again it’s like the fan film we all wanted

Grogu's memory was of armored, blaster-wielding Fett clones mowing down his Jedi protectors. That could steer him toward empathy and affinity for the Jedi or toward the power of pseudo Mandalorians. He could also be the bridge to both. There are far too many assumptions about him being a Yoda reboot. He could go an entirely different direction, making the sorty much more interesting. I really just want him to start talking so we can laugh at the sense of humor that we all know is lurking in that little guy.
I just don't see him becoming a Jedi because it breaks the link with him and the mandalorian. But that's just me. Just having the possibilities are so awesome for the fans. The writers are doing a great job
You couldn’t successfully convince me Mace has been alive this whole time. He definitely would’ve hunted palpating down.
Right cant see that badass just hiding out doing nothing
Not alive now. At least alive after leaving the window pane, though.
yeah, ryan says the theory includes Windu getting killed shortly after saving grogu
When he was running with Grogu, I was like "Do the flip, do the flip!" He did the flip and I yelped!
Dude, I said the same thing!!
As soon as I saw that silhouette with the hat walking out of the desert I was so excited! We're gonna see Boba Fett, Din Jarrin, AND Cad Bane fight and I am beyond hyped
...and Don't forget Fennec Shand had a run in with Cad in "The Bad Batch".
Hell yeah, soon as a sawr the duster and hat I squealed like a wamp rat. But then I got terrified for Cobb. Raylen may be the fastest draw in Harlan County Kentucky, but Cad is probably one of the fastest in the galaxy. Obviously Cobb was going to lose for story reasons, plus it'd be kind of hilarious to suddenly reintroduce bounty hunter badass Bane just to have him get shot down 2 minutes later. But they had Cobb be a quick draw boss at the start so Cad can outdraw him at the end to show just how scary he is. Classic/predictable trope, but it works.
When i saw that silhouette i jumped up and screamed, my gf, dog and cat jumped up as well because i scared them lol.
@@RngmonsterX I watch every episode of any Star Wars series when it comes out (2AM on Wednesdays). When I saw Cad Bane, my girlfriend and stepdaughter were both sleeping and I was screaming as quietly as I could. It was difficult.

But it's worth it every single time (even when the Episodes are kinda.. boring. I guess bad is the wrong word)
I really hope we'll get the Fett vs Bane duel in live action and other characters (Rex?!) in Mandalorian or TBoBF.
My GF always hated on Star Wars tho she never watched it.. then i got her into watching Mandalorian with me (thanks Grogu) and now she has watched every single Movie and Series (besides Lego or the old Ewok Movies) and is now hooked to Star Wars as i am lol.
I get the feeling Luke is testing Grogu to see if he really wants to become a Jedi. Definitely feel though Grogu will choose the lightsaber to prove that he wants to learn/if not it'll make season 2 of Mando pointless. Then Luke will still give him the beskar chainmail to teach him not to hide from his attachments but how to not let them get the best of him.
He’s totally choosing the chain mail. I think he associates that green lightsaber with his past trauma
He will choose the chain mail. He is already attached to Mando. Plus the Armorer can train Grogu to fight lol. Ahsoka can train him as well.
I _want_ that to be what happens
Still ticked at Luke for making Grogu choose between them when it was "attachment" that saved his own life, but given what Luke said about wondering if Grogu's heart was in it, I can see him using this as a test
I think luke wants to see what it means to be a Jedi. He wasnt ready and skipped his training and classes to help and aid is friends. He is more or less testing himself and wants to see if this way of jedis teaching is the right one. He is clueless and still learning. And he burdens that on Grogu and is testing himself and the whole Order.
Mando is up to season 3.
4:43 : actualy, the red display indicates the auto-pilot is active. As soon as R2 turn it pdf, everything turn back to blue
It was Anikin's fear of losing attachments that made fall to the dark side. It was literally only his attachment to his son that brought him back.
Kinda sad how luke and ahsoka makes the same mistakes as the jedi befor them :(
it wasnt the love who made anakin fall it was just the jedis who didnt support him.. Same with kylo luke didnt help him or talk to him and support him on the way of a jedi, he was just "oh no darkside evil".. Sad how a luke changed after the empire
@@MozirMikoto Anakin was afraid of losing his wife after she gives birth when he was having visions of Padme. @@likwit7165 So you wanna say its not the jedi fault?
Like if anakin could tell yoda or obi wan the could help him search for something that can save padme
@@MozirMikoto I
Anakin had nobody he can turn to, which he wanted to talk about his visions but he couldn't talk to the Jedi. The Jedi were at fault, in EU now known as Legends. Luke learned from the mistakes from the past and made the correct choices to try to stop this from happening. But he did lose padawans to the dark side. The Luke we get in Legends is what we should have got in the Disney's trilogy.
For a hot second I thought Mando was gonna recruit the Jawas after they cut to the sandcrawler after he talks about raising an army.
I wish that they made the beskar spear into a lightsaber hilt for Grogu instead of armour. It would be cool if later it can be reforged into something else like a hilt. It would be similar to the darksaber in the sense that he is a mandalorian foundling that is also a Jedi, if he chooses to pursue his training which he probably won’t sadly.
Technically, he could choose both. He could choose the armor for 50 years, then pick up the lightsaber years later - Yodas live very, very long.
Seeing Cad Bane in living action was amazing!
I actually thought “Who else wears a hat like that” when he first appeared….. I need help
I saw a news article title that made me think he’d be in the episode, but I didn’t think they could pull him off in live action. I was wrong 😳
The second you see his silhouette in the distance you know who it is.
I knew it from the first glimpse and I was so damn happy to have been right.
I was so hyped to see him he’s one of my favorite bounty hunters
When I saw his silhouette when he was walking out of the desert, my eyes got super wide.
Holy wow…I just realized that the lightsaber moves Luke did in front of Grogu were the same ones Anakin did while Ashoka and Ezra were watching the Holocron in Star Wars Rebels!
I thought I was the only one who caught that. Too many people don't realize what a treasure trove Clone Wars and Rebels are.
Do we assume Luke has the holocron now?
Cobb Vanth is not dead. On the end even the people coming to him say: "Bring the med Kit", "The stimulants"... The guy has his own music. He is not dead.
I have theory, that Grogu will choose lightsaber. But he will not finish his training. Same situation as Luke in Empire strikes back.
Mando gets in trouble, Grogu comes to help him, but Din will be dead in that moment.
Grogu revenges him, and gets Darksaber in posession.
So he became rightfull ruler of Mandalore.
And because Grogu IS Mandalorian, same foundling like Din Djarin, and member of Clan of Two, and this Show Is called The Mandalorian, not Din Djarin show.
And Grogu can then return to Luke with Darksaber and finish training as Mandalorian Jedi like Tarre Viszla.
I still tear up whenever I see that scene where Ahsoka learns Skyguy is Vader. The music, the sound of both Anakin and Vader's voice saying her name and the horror on her face, its perfect.

I have never been a fan of Cad Bane, but even I was excited to see him in live action. This whole episode was amazing from start to finish
If you listen closely, every time Grogu fails to concentrate on something, or loses focus, you can hear a chorus of frogs and birds in the background. When he focuses on Luke, or succeeds, the sounds disappear. It's a very deliberate motif -- when he doesn't jump, when he rolls the remote, when Ahsoka hands him the armor, when Luke expresses doubt, literally when he says the word "The Mandalorian" it plays.
It's especially interesting in the context of the scene when Luke lifts all the frogs. In a flashback to the X-wing on Dagobah scene, he's teaching Grogu that all life is connected through the force. Grogu looks at his hand and you can see the look on his face as "how will I ever do that", to which Luke immediately drops the frogs and teaches him the Size Matters Not speech. Every time we hear doubt or lose focus subsequently, we hear the frogs.
Pretty sure that sound will forever be a Grogu motif.
Man I had tears in my eyes almost the whole episode. Star Wars and especially Luke means more to me than I could ever explain and getting to see what Luke is doing post Return Of The Jedi is something I've wanted to see since I was a kid. Plus you add in Grogu and it's honestly just magical.
Yea I didn’t like luke seemingly preeching that solitude is the Jedi way to grogu though. Seemed to go against what I think luke would have learned in his journey, since his friends helped him every step of the way.
The bombing of the cantina was similar to Al Capone having the bar bombed at the beginning of The Untouchables. That movie was directed by Brian De Palma, who wrote the opening crawl to A New Hope.
It was almost note for note
Great eye.
I came here hoping someone else noticed that… “hey mister you forgot your- *boom*”
Came here specifically to make the same comment. Nice tie to ANH though, I'd forgotten that part
“Mr…mr… you forgot your bag *big explosion*
I think it was a mistake to have JJ Abrams run the sequels instead of Dave Filoni. Also think that grogu would be the perfect one to show luke that clinging to the old jedi no attachments thing should be re-thought
They'll keep the conflict going for a while for the drama, but eventually Luke will realize that yes, it was attachment that pulled his father to the dark side, but it was also attachment that pulled him back to the light.
Yoda actually doesn’t rebuild his saber. This was a direct retcon. Hopefully they continue to retcon all the bad decisions (sequels) !!
Whats a retcon? Its a geniune question, answer pls :)

I had a feeling Cad Bane was gonna show up eventually, but I was totally unprepared for how awesome it was. He might be my favorite character from Clone Wars so to see him in live action was almost too much for me to handle
As I'm still watching the clone wars, but what makes no sense is how old is Cad Bane? Fennec Shand is part robot now, is Cad as well, but white skin, due to his age?
@@lordvasileLive cad bane’s species lives longer than humans…closer to wookies life span, if I remember correctly from another UA-camr vid on Cad Bane.
I want embo!
Next episode I'm pretty sure there will be a conversation between Cad and Fett and mentioning how Fett got that dent in his helmet. Seeing as that was supposed to be canon originally and got cut. Plus way too many fans want that shown. Filoni and Favreau have gotten Star wars back to it's roots and are really on a fix to give fans what they want in Star Wars. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they watched this channel just to take notes from the comment section.
Next up is Hondo
Something I noticed that I really liked was Grogus vision is similar to to Dins memeory of being nearly killed
As someone that could never get into the animated stuff, I love these breakdowns filling in my ignorance and connecting dots.
These last 2 episodes made me realize I was WAY more into the mandalorian than boba fett. I’m way more emotionally invested in din/Grogu than I realized
Grogu’s flashback about the clones mirrors Din’s flashbacks about the battle droids in season 1 of the Mandalorian.
I was a bit surprised there was no talk about the inverted frog bit. That felt very heavy towards when Yoda was teaching Luke to pull the ship out of the swamp.
Omg yes!
I thought that too
Luke running through the woods with grogu on his back like he did with yoda
I thought it was Luke teaching Grogu to not focus on the frog he can see, but to feel all the frogs in the area through the Force.
The fact that you matched shirts with your dog is the cutest thing ever!
The quote from Galaxy Quest in the beginning "That was a hell of a thing" LOL!
Honestly, I don't really consider Luke and Ahsoka as "cameos" just their presence being folded into this episode made them feel more apart of the Mando-verse, to the point where they feel more like regular customers moreso than just cameos... and I love the fact that these characters don't feel like outsiders to me, everything feels more connected.
Tears in my eyes nearly the entire show! That was absolutely epic Star Wars in live action!
THANK YOU!!!! Out of all of the Star Wars Channels I watch, (Theory, Tech, Rant....) you are the only one that mentioned the same speeder from Solo!
Cad Bane's voice is amazing, all his demeanor is just like Lee Van Cleef characters in Sergio Leone's films.
I believe grogu will rejoin din, however this also perfectly sets up luke to appear in the final episode when boba, the people of free town and Din are in an all out war with the syndicates, leading to either luke or grogu saving Din's life which then leads luke to believe that grogus attachment to din makes him stronger with the force, ultimately leading to grogu being trained by din during mandalorian season 3 with occasional check ups by luke and ashoka
Oh yes that sounds cool
I think they tipped it on the splash screen when the episode ends and it dumps you back to the browser. A very Luke looking guy standing in front of Fett in jabba’s palace as an end credits style production art.
I have concluded Sam as you. There will be training in both Jedi and Mandalorian. Think there is a very , very long arc with many episodes. Many settings? Many planet and many thousands of years.
My guess is Grogo takes the light saber and Jedi training. He does significant training and gets quite strong and good with a lightsaber.
But after a while he starts to see Din in trouble, in pain or dying in his dreams.
Against Luke's guidance he "must leave" to go save Din, and takes the armor and lightsaber with him.
This becoming a bit of both warrior, not quite a Jedi Knight, but a formidable Mando.
Luke trains grogu and din
I think Luke is just testing Grogu, to see where his allegiance truly lies. After that, he will get both.
Oh, I expect/hope some of us are thinking the same thing. Mando offers a Beskar shirt, a defensive object which is lightsaber-proof, while Like offers an offensive weapon. Not very Zen, for a Jedi. Some deep philosophy in that moment. Given both things, Mater Grogu would be awesome.
I hope he gets both, grogu will look cool as hell in chainmail with a light saber lol
I mean...we have precedent for Mandalorian Jedi...
But yes, I desperately want him to get both
The second time I watched the episode, I thought Luke's clothes are actually different from ROTJ, they just look similar since they're solid black. The tunic in particular looks more like the Jedi 'bathrobes', or even more like Luke's karate 'gi' in A New Hope. Except it's black.
Loved it! Still trying to connect the whole grogu story with Boba fett.. it was nice to see Luke training. I loved the comedy with R2 n Mando.
I really hoped that Din would ask Ahsoka to train him in sword fighting as he now possesses the Dark Saber!
this was the way.
He'll connect the dots next season?
yea i was thinking he would go hey you know those fancy things you got I GOT ONE AS WELL! haha. Figured he would at least mention it or something since he knows they are trained with them.
Smart
She could have noticed it. When did you start carrying a light saber?
Cad Bane provides the perfect thematic conclusion to Boba Fett's story: to cement his transition from cold-blooded killer to a man with a tribe, Boba Fett will have to confront who and what he used to be. And the best foil to deliver on that theme is Cad Bane himself.
I suspect Fett and Bane will have three duels: the first, where they have a draw; a second, depicted in Bad Batch, where Bane wins; and a final one, in BoBF, where Fett wins.
oh man, awesome. I keep wondering who will be Boba Fett's direct antagonist in this show. I thought it would be Black K the Wookie (didn't quite pan out). Cad Bane will never forgive Boba or align himself with him after the clone wars. A stand off between these two would be such a great season finale. It could even be left as a cliffhanger who survives?
the transition into the promotion was so good, i almost considered not skipping it.
That art work showing Ashoka wearing her iconic hoody looks so awesome. I'm kinda sad they didn't go with that in the actual footage but still great they showed us it during credits.
The bikers managing to wipe out Boba's tribe was always unbelievable to me..
Now with Bane introduced, he definitely would have made it easier for the biker to pull that off
Biker to pull what off ?
@@danielbenson9219 killing the Tuskans.
Ohhhh. I hadn't thought of that O.O
I like that they made Cad Bane come across as creepy and erie in this scene. So much tension in that scene, loved it. Great character to loop-in.
He was really menacing
cartoon Cad Bane was comical, live action cad bane was chilling. they even nailed his alien eyes. Seeing him in the distance, and that whole sequence might have been the best part of the whole episode.
The red on the console from the N1-Starship in phantom menace was just the auto pilot. It turned a similar shade of blue as Din Djarin's ship after it goes to manual control from R2.
*Luke jumping around with Grogu*
Me: 🎶run run run jump, I can be a backpack while you run🎶
I felt exactly the same, deep sadness that the care and love in the TV shows was lacking in the sequel films. They've nailed nostalgia perfectly and built upon the world that went before unlike the sequels that were just felt like random popcorn events
When they try to sell toys they don't sell toys(Ewoks). When they don't try to sell toys they sell toys, Boba Fett. They should have always maintained the integrity.
George Lucus was just not a good student of human psychology. Infants are cute, but infants that defeat the Emperor's finest legion is campy crap. GL made those mistakes as early as Return of the Jedi and kept making them. His first wife was what kept that at bay. the stories he tells do not match the talent for the world he created. He is Tolkien like on the large scale but not so much on the details.
Well said. I felt the same way. Amazing story telling here and THE best Star Wars content out there for me. Just sad knowing where the story goes from here
@@gwynedd1 Yeah it really sucks how little recognition she gets.
@@JP-uz7nc You can be oblivious like me and pretend that the sequels aren't cannon. 😏
@@gwynedd1 Not sure why you brought up Lucas, he had nothing to do with the sequels?
I think Luke’s test is a a bluff to make us think he’s going to send Grogu back to Din. It was attachment that saved Luke and saved Vader. Luke is all about attachment, he wants to make sure Grogu won’t just give up on those he cares about
You and Doomcock. It's a good theory.
Thank you. This is what I have been wanting for Luke.
I don't know if the showrunners will actually do it this way - I'm a little afraid they won't - but I'm glad someone else feels/thinks the same way
The lighting at 19:34 showing Grogu's choice between the Jedi lightsabre and the Mandalorian armour is interesting. The lightsabre is on the edge of light and darkness, whereas the armour is fully immersed "in the light". Perhaps a hint of what the 'right' choice is.
And the shadow of Luke's hand gesturing to the light saber is gesturing to the armor.
An indication that armor leads to the absence of light, the dark side?
Or a more complex yin/yang relationship between dark and light; balance?
There's more to Grogu than meets the eye. Personally I do not believe anyone saved him at the Jedi Temple. I think he went full OP/Darkside and wiped out those Clone Troopers on his own.The event was so traumatic, he chooses to suppress his memories. Remember how he Force choked Cara Dune (something he wasn't taught and came to him naturally)? Also how he took out two Troopers in Season 2 when captured.Again the line from Luke "It's more like he's remembering..." and "Sometimes I wonder if his heart is in it". Perhaps this alludes to Grogu being afraid to realise his full potential because what he did in the past.
The bomb scene is "The Untouchables"
‘Mister, Mister…you forgot your bag!’
@@kenkarlin6342 😭
You beat me to it!
I would hope that Grogu chooses the sabre and continues his training. However there is a line where Luke says "It's more like he's remembering than I'm actually teaching him anything". Which could mean Grogu just needs a few more mind melds ;) for him to be fully versed in the Force.
There’s also the line about how long Grogu’s lifespan can be. In theory, Grogu can go be a Mandalorian for decades, and still have plenty of time to be a Jedi later.
Just imagine Grogu gets the same facial expressions as Yoda when fighting 😍
The interactions of Luke and Grogu walking in the forest and then looking up to the tree on the hill reminded me very much of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh... anyone else??
Even the way Luke speaks to Grogu is like when CR is talking to Pooh
Not sure if it’s intentional or if I’m looking too much into it, but the Sanctuary explosion juxtaposed with a shot of Luke’s newly built Temple is some great foreshadowing. Literally goes from a shot showing flames & smoke one moment to an exterior shot of the Temple the next. A sad fate indeed.
This episode was the best Star Wars we have seen in a very long time.
I really broke down and cried when Ahsoka says to Luke "So much like your father." I hope she shared stories with him what Anakin was like before The Dark Side took him over. And since Luke can't remember his mother, she might be his only link to knowing who Padme was.
Is she safe? Is she alright?

I hope it's a test... and if Grogru picks the saber he will get the armor soon after. He has to learn how to not get hit first so he doesn't rely on the armor as Mando and Boba do.
This episode was fantastic, I think an underrated part of this episode was the music, it was fantastic
The parts when R2 happily beeps at Ahsoka and also Ahsoka talking about Anakin literally crushed me
I thought exactly the same. The quality of this and the Mandalorian put the last 3 films to shame. So much better seeing Luke this way than as a grumpy old man that couldn't be bothered to try. As he was portrayed in the last 3 films
“…really wish the sequel movies took the time to give us something new, like these TV shows are doing”, says Screen Crush after 20mins pointing out 101 easter eggs, call backs, cameos and verbatim lines from previous Star Wars content 🤦🏻 how long can they rely upon your nostalgia until you get to where some fans are and expect Disney write something at the level of the great sci fi fantasy television being produced at the moment (Expanse, Foundation, Witcher, Watchmen, Altered Carbon, Westworld, Raised by Wolves, etc…)
@@exar1806 I think Favreau and Filoni are proving its possible to be nostalgic, fresh and in keeping with the original Star wars ethos
Had no idea it was Dan from Deadwood!!!! Mind freaking blown. If we could get Ian McShane in any capacity I would be in absolute heaven!!!
ik this is extremely unlikely, but i really hope with all of my heart that Dave and John and the people that actually give two about star wars find a way to almost decannonise the sequels. Even if they do some kind of alternate reality stuff (not like mulitiverse and marvel, just something that rewrites history)and go off on a different tangent ,as long as they can produce something that honours George's vision and gives us a proper and well thought out story to Luke and everything that replaces the sloppily put together crap from abrams and johnson
Definitely. That way we can still have the new characters the movies introduced. But they can just be done 'right'. Alternate versions of them. In a timeline with no First Order.
I still like the theory that Ahsoka is the key and that the sequels take place where she died in her duel with Vader, or at least had to withdraw from life, and this is the universe were Ezra saves her with the world between worlds
@@true_shermanator1129 omg yeah, I was thinking similarly with the world between worlds idea, I think that would probably be the best way to do it
I really hope so. Even though I'm enjoying the new shows there's the nagging reminder that it leads to the awful sequel trilogy and that makes it harder to really invest in the story.
Sidenote - I believe the name Din Jarrin is represents Dave and Jon.
I like to think that Luke starts out trying to teach Grogu the old ways because that’s what’s in the sacred texts, but Grogu ends up helping him see better ways to improve upon the Jedi path, leading to the New Jedi Order.
What did you think of the episode?
It is freaking epic episode dude
EPIC!!!!
It was crazy
SO MANY FEELS!! see Grogu again. Order 66! WASNT expecting that!.... so good!
The Big Lebowski quote was the highlight of this incredible video, thank you as always sir.
The way Bane appears off in the distance is probably a reference to one of my favorite westerns _High Planes Drifter_ with Clint Eastwood as titular character, he's far off, appearing and disappearing, ghost-like, out of the shimmering desert heatwaves and slowly solidifies as he comes closer, walking into the town he's going to revenge fuck the hell out of. Oh, forgot a tidbit, his character credit is "The Stranger". Hmmmm
Notice how the lightsaber is on Luke's gloved robot hand side and the chain mail is on Luke's human hand side? I think its interesting for some reason.
That's actually a good point
I really felt sad about the Jedi temple. Knowing how it ends really puts a damper on the intended optimism of the scene.
I thought the last trilogy was scrapped from cannon? At least thats what I like to believe.
That’s the point. Luke is at the top of his game right now, and he’s sure that he can do things differently. It’s the tragedy of knowing what’ll happen that makes this an interesting story, just like we watched the Prequels knowing the ultimate fate of the characters in it. They fully play upon the optimism that you’re supposed to feel. Luke hasn’t learned that he needs balance yet, and gives Grogu an ultimatum; choose me or your friend. He’s still learning from his own failures and successes, and to me it seems like he’s trying to counteract his brashness from the OT (stopping his training in order to save Han and Leia).
Basically all this to say, I can’t wait to see how the story will continue to evolve and add context to the Sequels.
I had 'Seagulls' playing in my head for that entire scene with Grogu on Luke's back lol and I know I'm not the only one...
