Can you believe that episode!? Man there was so much fanservice there for clone wars and rebels fans, but I LOVED how the episode brought Ahsoka through a spiritual journey that actually changed her. She is now…Ahsoka the white.nj
I cannot wait to break this video down for you, explain the weird spirit realm Ahsoka was in, and talk about how all of this sets up the force awakens and ties together so many eras of star wars. But first, I am so excited to announce something to you guys. We have made these new designs for our merch store that I think you are going to love.
Check this out. ON screen crush merch dot com today we just launched the high ground shirt-in honor of Anakin. We also have this beautiful poster or tapestry called master and apprentice, showing the lineage of our favorite appendices. [you’re part of a legacy, anakin] And my personal favorite, they just say no to death sticks -go home and rethink your life.
We have so much fun designing these shirts for you guys, and if you’re able to support our channel by purchasing one, we appreciate it. The link is in the description, screencrush merch dot com. So let’s talk about this episode.
First of all, notice that the map to Peridia's core is composed of gears-making it feel like this is indeed a very ancient map, made from ancient technology. Now in the first episode, I outlined how the map and the chamber Ahsoka found resembled the zeffo temple in the game's fallen order. Now the zeffo are an ancient race of force wielders, whose civilization collapsed because of-basically the dark side.
In the game, you have to move these giant orbs and make the temple light up-similar to what ashiok do in the night sister temple. The temple is also filled with ancient movable parts, like its run on gears. Making me think of the ancient people who built this map, the people who followed the purgill routes to begin-they might just have been zeffo. And like we theorized in past videos, maybe when the zeffo civilization fell, they became the nightsisters of dathomir.
Doug: That's a good theory person.
Thanks man. Then Hera lands the ghost on the surface, and man, I am still buzzin gover getting to see these animated shows in live action. Seeing the ghost, or the wa chopper’s annoying little head bobbles around like in the show-it's just so cool. They even did this extra work on Hera’s lekku-her head tails-notice how the twitch involuntarily. Its little details, like this that really bring the galaxy to life.
Huyang is carting Sabine's helmet-which I’m sure will be returned to her dramatically at once point, as she re-embraces her mandalorian heritage. Butfor now, he is just sad robot [clip]
The title of the episode is shadow warrior, which has a few different meanings. One, obviously, it points to Anakin-who was consumed by a shadow of the dark side when he became darth vader. But it also refers to Ahsoka herself. The challenges she confronts in the spirit realm are as much about confronting her own demons.
Ahsoka has lived with trauma and survivir;s guilt for her entire life. She blames herself for Anakin’s fall, and the fall of the jedi order. [I walked away from him] Her spiritual experience was about purging that guilt from her soul. So at the end of the experience, we see her f=reflection-her shadow self, merge into her, and they become one.
Doug: Yeah, I did not get that whole thing. What the heck was going on there?
Well, first of all

So back to Ahsoka.

So, I know most of us are fans of the show Star Wars Rebels, but for those of you who haven;t watched the show yet, I want to give you a very brief TL;DR on this world between worlds. In the show Rebels, a few months before Luke entered the saga, a young jedi named Ezra discovers this portal to a place that’s [clip].
When he entered, he heard voices from the prequels [clip]. And from the original trilogy and sequel trilogy [clip]. So this is like the crossroads of the force, where all of time and space intersect==like we see in this episode.
Ezra meets a force owl named Morai.
Doug: Who's that?
Well, as Ezra says [clip]. Now the entrance to the world between worlds was a portal of three force beings called the father, brother, and sister. And these figures appear throughout jedi lore-because, as sbine explains them [clip] - Фільми й анімація

Anyone else hoping we see LUX BONTARI turn up?
It's funny the only time you people are happy with Marvel is when you get something that you want. You people criticize everyone non-stop. You literally just said that Marvel and Star Wars were all feeding the fans what they wanted to see and that they shouldn't do it and now you're happy that they did. Grow up
“Notice how they twitch involuntarily”…because they’re made of foam rubber. That’s not intentional dude.
“You people”. How racist.
@@matthew-jy5jpI was thinking the same thing. The fandom is so confused, that they don't even know what they want.
Hats off to Hayden. Perfect Clone wars, knightfall, and RotS Anakin. Hasn’t lost a step and just gave a masterful overall performance. Hope we see more of him.
There are a few clips of Anakin dialogue from teasers/trailers that we didn't get in this episode - I'm optimistic we haven't seen the last of him :D
especially with his lightsaber combat - it was like he never stopped practicing, it’s ingrained in his blood
@@jaydub4314gotta love Nick Gillard. Hayden does seem to have kept up with it which is great, probably why he looks 30 as opposed to 42.
His acting in this definitely redeemed his performance in prequel trilogy. It shows that he did his homework in preparation for these scenes.
Yes! He nailed it, and finally got the chance to portray Anakin the hero General! Redemption after all these years. Great work, Hayden!
Hayden Christensen really did an amazing job. You can tell he adapted and combined his character in the movies to Matt’s in the clone wars and it shows. As a long childhood fan, I’m super happy he’s been able to get another chance to play this character and show how perfect he was for it. Also no other actor wields a lightsaber as good as him!
Seeing someone who knows how to swing a lightsaber (ie had the proper training and choreography) was so refreshing. It’s been a very long time since we’ve seen a lightsaber swung with such elegance. Hope we can get a live action clone wars series or something.
Lightsaber part is the thing. This guy is damn good with it..
@@harrisonrice4633this had never clicked in my head! It's a big part of why Reva and Rey and Kylo all just fall so flat. As soon as they whip out a lightsaber they lose all credibility.
Sure Hayden is good, but Ray Park, Ewan, and Liam were pretty damn legendary with the light saber.
Small correction: They did design 2 helmets for Rex. In the Ryloth scene he is clearly wearing his phase 1 helmet with the longer crest, the sharp "mouth" vent, and no air filters.
And in the Siege of Mandalore scene he is wearing his iconic phase2/phase1 hybrid helmet.
Thank you, I watched that and thought, "well that's wrong."
Came here looking for this comment. It absolutely has the phase 1 fin on the top, even in the screenshot used in this video. It's totally visible
@screencrush yeah take a closer look, that is recognizably phase 1 style on Ryloth
Agreed. Glad someone else seen this too. Clearly there’s a Phase 1 rex helmet and phase 2 helmet. Sooommmmeeebbboodddyyy needs 👓 lol haha.
This!!! 💯
The wounded clone taking Ahsoka’s hand really did make me tear up
Most of the flashback made me tear up.
Lol😂
Just a small correction: Anakin gifted Ashoka with blue blades the last time they met and she abandoned them with the cruiser where the removed Rex's inhibitor chip. The white blades were from a sith inquisitor that she killed and cleansed the blades since all red blades are crystals that have been bled with sith hatred.
More like a big correction idk how anyone that has seen CW can think they are the white ones 🤣
He’s color blind. He mentioned that in a previous Ashoka episode breakdown.
@@gabrielsegnini1460i hope you go thru life never making a mistake, what a dumb statement bro. Stuff like this is why SW is the worst fanbase in pop culture, literally the worst.
Was coming here to say this, but totally understandable that he is colorblind.
And of course, he gave her blue sabers, not green, to match his own, because of his controlling personality.
Young snips was majestic , the actress even got her gait and animated walking style correct. Amazing
And the stunts were siiiiick too!
I hated her line delivery. But she looked and physically acted great
But I also didn’t like how she talked in clone wars either
@@what76485sounds like Star Wars lmao
@@what76485sounds like star wars fans Lmao 😂
Hayden has ALWAYS been sooooo smooth with the lightsaber!! Of course while dueling , but what really stands out to me is when he is in the flashback of the clone wars, and he is standing casually speaking to Ahsoka while blocking blaster bolts. The way he reacts to them and the way he moves. It truly seems like he senses them well before they are fired..His light saber movement is so smooth and second nature. It doesn’t look at all forced like Balin in the hallway … stiff. He looks so natural and effortless. Powerful. Perfect.
Skoll has an upright heavy hitting style not like Anakins fast/aggressive style
@@WhiteDawn. agreed.. not talking shit about it.. it simply looks much stiffer than anakins.. and Hayden has a way of making the saber look like an extension of his body
I love that Baylon uses form IV (Ataru) just like Qui-gon. It's referred to as the "aggressive" style, and I think that works great for Skoll, as it is kind of stiff, rugged and powerful, pretty much like him. It let's him keep up with Ahsoka's jar'kai if he needed too, but she also used Ataru (with only a single saber) for their duel, which I found odd, but maybe it's a respect thing. In any case, I enjoy Baylon's character a lot, he seems almost sympathetic to the Jedi in a weird way, or maybe it's more sympathy for the "old ways."
@@shawndashno6022 Baylon is my favorite new Star Wars character in at least a decade
@@brendanwalsh2755Baylan is my favorite of Ray Stevenson's characters, may he rest in peace
I haven’t seen anyone include this Easter Egg yet across the main Star Wars channels on UA-cam, but when Ashoka uses the force power “Psychometry” to find out what happened to Sabine after she fell, we get the same sound effects and experience as displayed in Star Wars: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Survivor. This is a neat reference to the gameplay of Cal Kestis using that ability as a necessity throughout the games, and I love that it’s displayed consistently even in Live Action.
15:54 He definitely also has the phase one helmet, if you zoom in you can see the pointy fin on top that was only on the phase 1
They always miss stuff like that on these videos, it pisses me off because its glaringly obvious.
Same. Gives off lack of fact checking
The whole time watching Jacen touching the force in that scene really made me want to see ezra be the one who will train him. That way he can pass on what he learned from his master to his masters son.
Honestly my preferred star wars post-sequels would be Ezra and Ahsoka teaching the next generation--clearly the sequels are being upheld, but this is a way they could skirt around them
And that way he doesn't go to Luke's school.
probably be the only options left as Disney completely fucked Luke over.🤷♂️
hearing Hera say to Ahsoka 'May the force be with you' was so great!
I love the way Anakin fights in this episode. After seeing the lightsaber fights in this show so far, you can a see a MAJOR difference. He's from a different era for sure.
Dave Filoni has recreated the genius of the audience coming to love Ahsoka, this time in live-action. Most people hated her for the first bit of the Clone Wars (which was an intentional part of Filoni’s plan), and then she grew into everyone’s favorite. He did that again here, with everyone having issues with her stoicism/distanced personality the first half of the season. Now, by the end of this episode, she’s grown into the true Ahsoka we all love.
Watching this episode I for the first time had a feeling that I am watching a show about Ahsoka. Before it seemed like everyone else was in the spotlight except for her. And I‘m very glad she‘s got this impromptu therapy session. All 4 first episodes I‘ve felt very connected to her, to how tense and focused on one thing she was because of her unprocessed trauma. And now this moments with Anakin. I cried through the whole segment and am so glad Rosario got to play it
this show is meant to be a live action sequel to rebels. your literally pyritizing your expectations based on a tidal., your just judging a book by its cover but in this situation your half way threw the book. kinda weird.
I thought that her final
lesson was to learn to not run , face her fear and make her choice. This was signified with her facing anakin - taking the saber and tossing it aside. Not running away but facing her fears and enemies and standing her ground
While also not going too far and killing Anakin in anger. She threaded the needle between pacifism and violence, transcended the false duality of weakness vs anger. Classic mysticism.
That first flash when Anakin turns into Vader for a second is so badass!!!!
Anakin and Vader all in one episode was just what we needed
Why?
It’s crazy how shows Called Ahsoka and Obiwan NEED Anakin/Vader to keep y’all interest .
@ldriver96l wow its almost like these characters have a deeply interwoven backstory that makes it compelling to see the interact or something????
@@asterlyons8564 Could’ve just made a Vader movie 😂🙌
@@ldriver96l Vader is a better character when he has more mystique to him. Seeing him as the protagonist of a movie wouldn't be nearly as compelling as seeing him as a villain.
Hats off to Hayden C's performance! After Ahsoka throws away the lightsaber, Hayden's face goes from fear, to shock, to discernment, and finally to shame before becoming happy-shiny Mannekin Skywalker. Seriously wish he had a chance to show this kind of range in the prequels...
And his eyes go from the yellow Sith back to his normal blue eyes in that moment as well.
I so hope he gets more roles. I think he knocked it out of the park with this performance.
To be fair, Hayden has been a fantastic actor since the early 2000s, just look at Life as a House. He was superb
He killed it. He also was very young when he joined the franchise so he’s been able to really hone his acting skills since then
@@watcherzero5256this series is absolute TRASH MAAAANNNN! Give me Avengers and She-Hulk any day of the week bro!
The symbolism of falling through water, like Gandalf, was meant to represent a baptism. She is now one with the Force and became a Jedi knight.
I think Anakin showed Ahsoka his dark side to prove that you should be in balance between the light and the dark, unlike the Jedi order used to.
The chosen one to bring balance to the force. Jedi and sith both do not have balance. You summed it up perfectly!
It’s also really amazing to see the slight innocent and vibes of Ahsoka that’s been blocked due to her guilt. It seems like we’re going to see her more “animated” now that she’s had that release!! 😁
I love when Anakin walks out of the memory cloud with his red lightsaber and rolls his shoulder like he's about to kick some a**. That's real Anakin.
Dark side Anakin for sure.
His fighting got more aggressive for sure.
It's the Vader that Palpatine wanted, and only Ahsoka got to see. If the Mustafar Dual had ended differently, the galaxy would have been screwed. That's part of Anakin's lesson imo.
This is peak Anakin right there. Free of shackles from the dark and light sides, he can utilize both sides of the force with perfect ease.@@mikethehunter5212
This episode continues the Hayden redemption arc, gives us some of the best Star Wars yet, and proves why Dave Filoni and John Favearu are rightful heirs to the Lucas Legacy.
Lmfao this is about as Disney brand star wars as it gets. It's literally the continuation of a star wars children's cartoon. It's Leia flying through space, bad. The world between worlds aka plot armor central and lightspeed traveling space whales. It really doesn't get much more dumb..
@@jacobsampsonis7782 YES THIS! I WILL BE LEAVING STAR WARS VERY SOON! WE ARE DONE!!! AND NEVER CUMMING BACK!
8:21 this is when he gave her the blue sabers. Not the white. She made the white ones herself.
23:55 superb "your mom" transition. Just excellent.
Hayden’s performance was AWESOME!!! By far my favorite episode so far! The character development is awesome and I’m so happy to see the Purrgil again!
After Ahsoka was rescued not only did she get a new set of clothes she also got a brand new headband. I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned in this video
Anakin: "I have one last lesson to teach you."
Ahsoka: "What's that?"
Anakin: "I was always a dick and none of this was your fault. Now stop dressing in black like an asshole and go be a Jedi."
Luke: "Hey... Waitamminit..."
Anakin: "I said what I said. It's been ten years since your emo period, did you even wash those robes?"

@@MrBazBakeok this shit is hilarious 😂😂
I’m personally convinced that Anakin and Ahsoka retain their current consciousness as they travel through these flashback sequences, but are also fully fused with their former selves in those moments. I think the end of the second flashback sequence, where Anakin is present for the event here, but wasn’t present originally is the main indicator of this, but also some of the things that Ahsoka says, in both flashbacks seem to me like this is adult, Ahsoka simply retracing her steps. I’m also convinced that this is truly the redeemed, balanced, force ghost of Anakin, and he utilized the full experience of his full spectrum experience in the force to guide Ahsoka through this psychological and emotional healing process, so that when pushed to her edge, she would choose to stay balanced instead of falling to the dark side.
I'm so happy they let Ahsoka find peace. I wasn't a big fan of Dawson's portrayal of her up until now but it was like there was a lightness to her that was missing from the character and she was great. That the dourness was an aspect of her trauma works and now the first four episodes click better for me. Also this really shows that Hayden's wooden performances in the prequels weren't his fault. I wish he could have brought this emotion to them, I love Lucas for a lot of things but as has often been said he's not great at making performance choices.
8:22 No, Anikin gives her two Blue sabers, she didn't get her white sabers until after she battled an Inquisitor (the fight of which was shown in Tales of the Jedi) and cleansed their red lightsaber crystals.
I think the doorway to the world between worlds being underwater makes the most sense. The altar was built on a cliff and it would be a quintessential “leap of faith” (or lucky fall) to use it. Also explains why Jacen could hear them as the sounds were emanating from the doorway itself which he was connecting to.
Filoni started Ahsoka on her path towards learning the power of "immortality."
Her trials with Anakin/herself in this episode were so similar to Yoda's trials on Moraband. We're going to see more of Hayden in the next few episodes, I think, too. More dialogue from trailers that we didn't see/hear in episode 5. Also, Hayden was absolutely terrific. The shift in his demeanor/expressions when transitioning from Anakin to Vader and back was flawless. He also hasn't lost a SINGLE step with his lightsaber choreography, he looked just as fluid as he did nearly 20 years ago
Agreed!!!!!!!!!
Who needs to be immortal when you have the power of plot armor? Just imagine if Ray had fallen off a cliff without any injuries whatsoever. You people would scream your lungs out "Mary Sue! MARY SUE". 😂😂😂
@@anonymous-hz2un for real. But because cowboy, wannabe George Lucas is continuing his children's show into live action they yuck it up wholesale
I read that he’s always picked up his lightsaber periodically to practice so he doesn’t lose his skills.
To finally get to see a live action version of Ashoka and Anakin during the Clone Wars, with his Clone Wars armor was unbelievable and all I ever wished to see.And since everything else has been commented here so far there is nothing left to say than: What an incredibly awesome episode!
The importance of the battle of Ryloth is that Ahsoka made a decision that cost her squad to die in space against Admiral Trench. That's why she is traumatized in this moment for the "decisions she made, people died" which she says in this episode.
Wish they had a Ewan as Obi wan quick cameo! Just a super brief walk by, and seeing Rex’s face would have been 10/10!
I saw the blond head Black Series figure and it would be a giant leap to get Tem to do that one.
I was thinking the exact same about Obi Wan!
Yes, guess Ewan wasn’t keen on a cameo or was tied up in other things. Who knows, that could still happen.
Unfortunately the actor playing rex wasn't Morrison, Morrison did the voice acting but phisically was someone else
8:26 Anakin didn't give Ahsoka her white sabres. He perfected the crystal and handed her blue ones instead of her green sabres. She abandoned these in the aftermath of order 66.
I came in the comments and said the same thing
He’s Color blind probably a mistake
he was probably too busy thinking of a "your mum" jokes to realise!
The jaws closing on the space whale are exactly like the jaws of the asteroid worm closing on the millennium falcon in the empire strikes back. So much gold in this episode!
Shadow also refers to the darker side of one’s consciousness, usually depicted as beneath waves in art and psychology. Ahsoka is totally doing some shadow work here.
Kudos to Anakin's de-aging. Looked amazing 👏
Young Ahsoka looked fantastic! My one qualm with Rosario's costuming is that the lekku feel too small relative to her appearance in rebels. But with young Ahsoka, the proportions are almost perfect, really feels like her early season Clone Wars model brought to life.
The Jedi Council considered Ahsoka's attempts to uncover Barriss Offee and prove herself innocent her own trial. That's why they imply she has already attained Jedi Knight status when they invite her to rejoin the Jedi.
I’m honestly not sold that Ahsoka was really in the world between worlds literally. I feel like this whole thing was a force inspired vision, like Luke in the cave or Ray in the fun house mirrors. The force was giving Ahsoka a chance to see what she needed to see.
He was definitely Anakin, he knew everything that happened and was aware of everything he didn't live (like the siege of Mandalore), not to mention Jacen heard -both of them- through the force. Plus, he must have been the one preventing her from drowning all those hours Ahsoka was under water, and the one to get her inside the WBW
It could have just been 'the force' manifesting Anakin because that's who Ahsoka needed to see to be at peace though? If it was actually Anakin, it was definitely an omnipotent (probably the wrong word!) version of him though that's aware of his entire existence at the same time - I think the "I've head that before" line was definitely in relation to Luke saying he wouldn't fight him, which obviously happened after the version of Anakin that's present.
@@Superdelphinusi think we should re-define the world between worlds as a sort of Jedi Purgatory that Anakin is now boss of … he is the force in that regard - fulfilling prophecy
@@writingrefI mean it’s pretty clearly defined i think the netherworld is the afterlife for Jedi and they can manifest themselves into the living world as force ghosts so I’m guessing the world between worlds not only means between time but also between realms of the living and cosmic force being why he can manifest as a full body person not a ghost maybe it’s easier and more accessible to them but I do enjoy the ide of that kinda like he’s there to help others pass on or somthing
@@josiahcombellick8559 There's some kind of comic or book where Palpatine directly talks about the WbW being a gateway to the spirit world. I think either this channel or New Rockstars mentioned this in one of their breakdowns. So yes . . . exactly that lol.
@@writingref Exactly. I like the theory that Ahsoka actually drowned and Anakin pulled her in to the world between worlds. This would mean force ghost Anakin is more akin to the Father as he can still use his light and dark sides at will.
You can clearly see at 15:57 that rex is wearing a phase 1 helmet. The bottom of the helmet doesn't have the filter holes and the top- rear of the helmet has that signature phase one spike
Exactly, so dumb
At least Ahsoka is using her WHITE lightsabers in that same flashback...wait a minute...those were BLUE!
Hayden didn't an excellent job, this episode amazing. A couple of other points that caught my attention. Loved when Anakin told Ahsoka "One is never to old to learn, Snips", reflecting to her about his own personal journey turning back to the light. Also when Hera mentions "people don't just vanish into thin air", and Huyang responds "No. Well, normally, no." - a nod to Obi-Wan and Yoda disappearing when they died.
Shadow Warrior is a reference to Kagemusha, an Akira Kurosawa film, whose title literally means 'Shadow Warrior'. Not only is it one of George Lucas' favourite films (which you can now assume is also one of Filoni's favourites too) and inspiration for many parts of the Star Wars franchise, but many themes and scenes from this episode are near 1:1 call backs to iconic elements of Kagemusha, such as the misted Clone Wars scenes, and the Scroogian deathbed revelation Asoka has

I was definitely feeling Dagobah cave energy in that Asoka test. Could the cave at Dagobah also be connected to the World Between Worlds?
Definitely my favourite episode of this series BY FAR! That Gandalf-esque spiritual journey was sooo good coupled with the score playing throughout this episode made me think I was watching a movie and not an episode
When Anakin says "I've heard that before", that's also a reference to Luke not wanting to fight him.
I felt that was a direct statement to the audience on who this Anakin is. The present day Anakin post Return of the Jedi. Somehow Anakin's force ghost can appear as more solid entity in this special world between worlds space.
One thing I noticed was when they were looking for Ahsoka Hera says people don’t just disappear but Huyang responds with not normal but with Lady Tano it’s a possibility or something to that affect. I think he knows that Ahsoka can travel to the world between worlds and she saved him through one of the portals and it could explain why he’s only 75% original parts cause the other 25% were lost when Ahsoka pulled him through and would explain how Huyang survived the purge and the reign of the empire
This episode did so much fan service on so many fronts! I been really looking forward to the SC breakdown! This show is really going some where. It had so much going on. Every episode sure adds up to the bigger picture!
Best part is Anakin rolling his shoulders forward while charging Ashoka
This was the best episode in any SW series it everything CW fan has asked for it was awesome seeing Rex on seige of mandalore thank you filoni for this great episode.
the way you handle ads with puppies and sock puppets is really fun. Good on ya for going that extra mile!
Darkside Anakin was my favorite thing about the episode. Wielding the red saber with Sith eyes. So awesome
What did you think of the episode?
Epic
Loved it. One of my favorite episodes in the entire Disney+ show catalog.
It was too confusing. Felt more like fan service than an actual story.
One the best episode of the series but I don’t of that was ryloth or second battle of genosis cause their first mission was on christophis and siege of mandlore was great we got captain Rex and probably we see him in ahoska
It was amazing! Beyond what I expected. I tweeted that Anakin is now a Mortis god, without the need of the Son or the Daughter as he is in balance and has assumed the role of keeping the Force in balance. There is another prevailing theory that Anakin is beyond Mortis and actual a celestial being, which makes sense as he was born of the Force (no father, just Shmii and immaculate conception of sorts). The move to the new galaxy or Skylaxy 😅, is Filoni making Star Wars fresh again.
Please don't stop doing the "Your Mom" gag. Gets me every time. Love it.
I never feel like I’ve fully watched something until your breakdowns come out!
you can only imagine how qui-gon would've reacted to the jedi serving as soldiers in the clone wars
Pretty sure the ending to this is a nod to Empire Strikes Back with Lando (Ahsoka) saying we'll find Han (Ezra & Sabine), I promise and Luke (Hera) saying "may the Force be with you"
Also I really loved another visual reference
in the seige of mandalore scene, Ashoka pulled off the “knee spin”, the same one she did later against Maul
Great video as usual! You always make me feel smart and fulfilled when I see something and you talk about it. But I’m surprised you didn’t say anything about how when Ahsoka is using her force echo ability, we can hear several times the small ding that plays when Cal Kestis uses the same ability in the newest (and probably the first) game. I honestly thought they overused the sound since when you do it in the game it only plays once when you click on it. Hope you read it and maybe include it!
YES!!! It's Doug and Ryan time!!! Glad to see so many UA-camrs happy today because of this episode!!!!
Hayden as Anakin(Vader) was great to see again! He is so powerful and plucky when fighting Ahsoka in this and Obi Wan in ROTS. Soo cool!
Per usual, your break downs r always so spot on. I know I have to wait just a lil bit longer for them to drop but it's always worth the wait. 😎😎😎
Something I really liked about the episode is that Hayden Christiansen seemed to change his voice a little bit (though maybe it was just age?). In doing so, he actually was a remarkable mix of his own voice and Matt Lanter, the voice actor for Anakin in the Clone War series. Even if it wasn't intended, I loved it. It brought the prequels and the show together in a wonderful way.
I like to think it was actually Anakins Force Ghost and because he has experience tapping into both sides of the Force, he was able to use both to illustrate his final lesson to her. I personally like the idea that this is Anakin communicating with her at this point in time and kind of allows her closure knowing that he came full circle on his journey of the force
He wasn’t a force ghost.
Star wars just made it official that it was his force ghost
It IS actually Anakin, not just a vision.... he says "I don't remember this battle" when flashbacking to the Mandalore battle.
Or it is Ahsoka remembering that Anakin wasn't there, which made her projection state that he didn't remember.

You're claiming that a statement from what could be a dark side environment is definitive proof it was Anakin, but this isn't true at all. What I just said is all in canon.
Holy shit that emotion from David Tennant as Huyang was absolutely perfect when he was sulking while holding Sabine‘a helmet. You could visibly see he was heartbroken holding it
I loved this episode i can't even express how good was whole sequence with Anakin and Ashoka both played it soo good
amazing episode! Ahsoka's journey to surpass her guilt and finish training, purgills, Anakin, clone troopers, Rex. Perfect pace and great visuals, especially with Anakin/Vader. I'm so hyped about that episode!!
thanks Ryan I have been watching your easter eggs series since long time ago. Personally I am already a star wars nerd who touches everything related to star wars like the novels , the EU and the games whatever, with your easter eggs pulling everything relevant, it just make my expereince to the max! Ryan Arey and the crew ~ keep up the good job ❤
YAY. you are the first person to address Ahsoka's ears! I've left comments on 3 different review channels saying, " what about the ears". good job dude!
Great video as always, but Anakin didn't gift Ahsoka her white sabers. They were blue. I believe her white sabers came after she killed the Inquisitor with his own double-bladed saber in "Tales of the Jedi."
9:56 I am sure this is Anakin's force ghost. He let it slip that he 'doesn't remember this battle,' it's very subtle, but if he was just a figment of her imagination while drowning, he would know everything she knows. This is definitely a separate consciousness.
They also had Hayden reading Tales of the Jedi dialogue in a trailer. Not sure if that will be in the show since it could just be promo material but I expect to see him again (or hear from him).
I'm sure this is Ahsoka's Force Teenager and not just a clone.
And now that she is 15 years old again she doesn't have to worry about wrinkles and looking old.
L'Oreal ain't got nuthin on magical thinking.
Great episode! Amount of details you brought up put me in position to rematch the episode lol btw, finally a sponsored ad that I can relate since I'm using incogni for the 2nd year now
The somehow palpy returned bits always get me, thanks for never letting us forget!
God wasn’t that episode a masterpiece?!
That episode was a masterpiece. Fan service done right.
The shot of Anakin igniting his lightsaber for the first time was a nod to Revenge of the Sith and the younglings.
OK, the bit with Huyang and the helmet with Gravity playing had me choking from laughter.
I think that in this Anakin was not actually a force ghost but instead the Father, Son, and Daughter. They knew that more casual fans would be confused at the appearance of these characters. Instead Anakin would be someone that everyone would recognize and know the story of, so having the daughter teaching her to be resolved of guilt yet the son to embrace power was just amazing!
I want more Anakin!!! That was insane!!!
Dude I love you. Always Blind Wave, ScreenCrush and if I have time Real Rejects between every episode
Amazing how hard they worked to squeeze in all of these Easter eggs. This content is the best of the Disney Star Wars era.
I'm pretty sure the first Clone Wars flashback we saw (with the purple fog) was the Battle of Teth in the Clone Wars movie!
One of the many things that struck me about this episode was how seeing young Ahsoka in live-action made it clear just how messed up the Clone Wars were. In the cartoon, it was surprisingly easy to disregard her age because of the animation. But seeing a real-life child fighting in a war really illustrated how young she was when she was forced into it. Granted, I think she looks younger in this episode than her in-universe age, but that only serves to make the point clearer. I don't think I'll be able to watch The Clone Wars the same way after this!
Her first battle was when she was 14. She WAS that young.
It was the battle of Ryloth, she names it and you can see a couple of Twi'leks in the background talking to the clone troopers.
@@iskisenna I've always known that, and I always thought it was awesome that a girl that young could be so brave and capable. Now, all I can think of is how sad and scary it is. Like I said, I think seeing a real-life girl in that situation as opposed to an animated one changed my perspective.
@@watcherzero5256 That was in the second half of that sequence. I'm talking about the beginning of the flashback sequence when we first see young Ahsoka and the clones. It started out on Teth, and then it skipped forward to Ryloth.
When exactly did she say it was Ryloth? I've seen the episode twice now, and I never heard anyone mention Ryloth by name. But we can tell just by looking at it that it's clearly Ryloth.
@@jomole1430 She must have said it at some point as I would never have remembered the name otherwise. Both half's of the flashback were the same battle and the Twi'lek resistance fighters presence indicate it must have been Ryloth. Battle wasnt Teth because in that the enemy were in a clifftop fortress and the battle was fought up the near vertical cliff face using climbing ropes.
Love the Gandalf comps! Thanks for doing what you do! Great breakdown.
I love that episode! It was so exciting and I smiled so much during all of it!
One thing I loved in this episode is the fact that Ahsoka is finally calling herself a Jedi, after her transformation as Ahsoka the White. It's a first! That happened when she talked to Jacen and refers to their ship as a "Jedi starship". She finally accepts the title and consider herself a Jedi. What a great character arc with her!
Small correction: Rex has his phase 1 armor and helmet in the Ryloth flashback. You can clearly tell that’s phase 1 armor.
This episode was some seriously Epic Star Wars! Thank you Dave Filoni!!
So much packed into one episode, all the feels!
When you said “& I’m pretty sure that it’s your mom” & Cartman’s screaming “HA” had me dying lmao
As a Clone Wars fan, this episode 5 of Ahsoka was a treat and I loved it! I enjoyed it, give me more Clone Wars content!👍
I'm with you. Seeing more of the Clone Wars was Outstanding!!! Need more!!!
Remake the clone wars in live action! Just kidding but not really.
I LOVED this episode! So cool to see Anakin again, and Hayden has such an elegance and cool style in the way he fights. The memories was so perfect, seeing a young Ahsoka in live action😍
The World Between Worlds plot is "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Scrooged".
Ashoka almost echos George Bailey when she says "I choose life" ("I want to live") and Anakin is working Caril Kane vibes as the Ghost of Christmas present when he cuts off the dead end; "Oh, what is this, Frank? Oh, oh look, Frank! It's a toaster!" Boom, he's (and Ashoka) back in the past.
I called it last week that this episode would be all about Ahsoka's Mirror trial and she'd have to overcome her guilt and fear, as many major Force wielding characters have had to. Cal Kestis faced the trial against a vision of his old master a few times in Fallen Order, Luke failed the test the first time in the cave on Dagobah, and even Yoda himself had to face that trial in that very same cave shortly after resigning himself into exile. Also there was that random segment in Force Unleasghed 2 where Galen Marrek went into that cave.
I also really love the visual detail in this episode of Ahsoka standing along as all the clones and Anakin march forward into the battle, symbolizing how time and the galaxy always march forward but she's still stuck in the past. As Q would put it, "Like a butterfly with its wings pinned to board."
What an episode. I honestly thought we would never get a payoff for the end of Rebels but this is beyond what I thought could happen,
These breakdowns are my immediate go to after watching anything. It just adds and builds on the depth and magic of what we have watched. Filoni is adding an insane amount of symbolism and depth to this series. We will be studying it for decades much like we have the OT.
I actually think Jacen might survive the Jedi Academy. His mom clearly is uneasy about him becoming a Jedi due to what became of his father. She knows her son learning the force might put him in danger someday and I think she is trying hard to prevent that. Jacen clearly wants to be a Jedi but I think she is trying to avoid that as much as she can. Given his age it's also possible is no longer at the temple but then that doesn't really explain where he could be during the sequels. Thats why I think he may not have been part of the new Jedi.
Then again trying to explain the poor continuity of the sequels is a fools errand.
Judging by what Filoni has said, they are going to 'certain point of view' the sequels, because they take place for such a short amount of time. So Grogu, Jacen etc are going to be 'doing something else' while the sequels and their backstory mystery boxes are happening. I think channels like this one love to look for connections and references, but Jon and Dave not explicitly contradicting canon doesn't mean they are going to connect everything. I think it would be kind of pointless to kill off these characters in Luke's academy, when Ezra or Ahsoka training Kanan would be much more interesting than anything they tried to do in the sequel era.
@@Ruylopez778they wouldn't kill them off like that, but they've been pretty open about their shows lining up with the Sequels. Doesn't mean that's all they'll be doing though.
@@TCO_404 Depends on your definition of "lining up".
Putting in things like Hux's father as a side character cameo isn't exactly anything more than an easter egg.
They've said that Mando takes place before the sequels and how does the galaxy get from ROTJ to TFA - and some people are determined to take that to mean they are 'connecting' everything they are doing into the sequels. I disagree. I think they are continuing with ideas from the animated shows while including a few sequels easter eggs.
Ahsoka is largely the opposite of the sequels, since 'just let it in' isn't how the Force works, and hyperspace collisions aren't a thing. The Mando time period actually bothers to set up different factions and develop the setting. I suppose the sequels ignoring anything about the republic or the galaxy except FO and resistance nostalgia bait means that they can at least choose how to fill in the majority of details that the sequels couldn't be bothered to spell out.
But then I just find everything about the sequels hollow or dull, so if we spent the next 30 years just exploring the post ROTJ era in the same way the TCW and PT explored that time period for years, I'd be fine with that.
