Blower Motor Resistor Replacement (easy) - 2008 Ford Explorer - Fan only works on high

- The climate control fan motor stopped blowing on several of the switch settings - this is usually the blower motor resistor that goes bad. The resistor unit is located behind the glove compartment and is attached with two 5/16” hex screws.
This job is extremely easy and only requires a few common hand tools to do.
1/4" drive ratchet, 5/16” Socket, Pry Tool.

Best video on this. Thanks
Thank you!
Seems like other videos lump the explorers into a blanket category. But the other videos show the resistor on right side of fan. Your video was finally correct. My part was RU636, with 4 prong plug, and bent corner on bezel lower left like yours. Thanks for the video. It cut through the noise.
Thank you so much for this video. I changed mine today flawlessly because of this video.😃
Glad it helped!
Great Video! This totally helped me replace my resistor. Thank you so much!!!
Glad it helped!
Thanks, gonna try this once im off tomorrow. Definitely need AC in Florida!
Follow up: worked great, thanks!
Thanks for the video! - just did mine today in the 08 - would only blow on setting 4. Working now
Awesome! 😎

@@BrookyGProductions I’m glad it helped! 🤓
Very nice to be able to do small repairs on your vehicle. Fun and saves a few dollars too......Take care, Bluefin.
Thanks Bluefin! If I can, I diy...especially if it’s easy. 🤓
I like to do my own car repairs when possible.
I’ll give you major credit for even bothering- not only to fix it, but film it. Powdered Toastman to the rescue!!!! Kudos, Kriz!
Thanks! I need to be careful... If you keep calljg me Powdered Toastman it might stick! That's where filming with iPhone is good....always ready! 🤓
Thanks unlike some other videos I could actually see what you were doing.
Thanks, I'm glad it was useful! 👍👍
Good job
Thanks @Kardoso Media! Gotta love when things stop working and you can actually fix it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
nice diy! didn't look to difficult.
Yes, super easy! Hardest part was waiting for the part to come in, LoL. Thanks for watching! 🤓
Thanks for the video before you give me a headache moving that camera around
NICE JOB = BUEN TRABAJO !
Thanks buddy
If I replace the resistor but it’s still doing the same thing, what could it be?
My next guess would be the switch…I think that’s the only thing left.
Sheesh... I might have to get you to fix my 99 silverado pickup... I'm having a problem with it shutting off, real slow idle but then also revs up really fast, then slow again etc.. ugh
Also having the same blower problem on my truck so I'll have to get the chevy part for that fix.
Thanks for commenting Todd! Yes, this one was a pretty easy fix. See you out on the trail! :)
Excelente este video me sirvió de de mucho que aprender y me salve como 150 dólares gracias
Me alegra que haya sido útil, ¡gracias por el bonito comentario!
What if the number switch works but the switch that has the blue color as cold or the red As hot dont work what do you think it is? Thanks
Sounds like maybe one of the blend door actuators. I never had to do one on this vehicle. ua-cam.com/video/LfeMTbTFmCs/v-deo.html
I would plug it in and test it right away, if it doesn't fix the problem you haven't wasted the time to screw it back in.
Yes, you are correct! Thanks for commenting :)
Twelfth like.
Why on earth would they make that headache of a device? I use to love Ford vehicle but it seems like today Ford vehicles are engineered to cost the consumers more and more. What happened to dependability Ford Motor company? Good grief!!!
Yes, I also grow tired of simple sensors with poor design - there is no reason this should ever fail, it's a resistor. :( Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
