For my BEST Mudlarking find go here ua-cam.com/video/A7Sayz7Jk6k/v-deo.html
Thanks for the memories
My favorite part of that video, aside from the spectacular find that I won't mention here 😉, is the hand-holding & skipping. The next time you change up your opening sequence, that should definitely be included! 😁
Hi Si, just wondering if you have a bottle cleaning video...thanks
My many-greats grandfather came to America in 1699 on a ship from Liverpool when he was only 19 years old. He was Quaker. It was called “that sick ship from Liverpool” because about half the passengers got sick and died on the voyage. I want to visit Liverpool one of these days.
That’s so cool! Yes I recommend it!!!
Its great i am biased i am from there
Yeah Kellydiver come to Liverpool..you won’t be disappointed...✌🏻
1😊love
As a Scouser living in the South, your video was a bit of a blast from the past. I salute your bravery for taking on the mun of the Mersey!
Thanks La
Best video yet. Not quite so busy, and it shows that even if a site isn't full of show-stopping finds, we can always learn something and enjoy the natural world.
Thanks Anne! Took yonks to edit x

When your next up north there is a beach near Crosby called ‘brick beach’ and it’s where a lot of the bomb damaged masonry from Liverpool was dumped, so lots of interesting carved stone and plenty of bricks to look at 👍🏻
Yes I saw that on a tv programme. Could’ve been ‘A house through time’ I love that programme
Sounds fascinating.... Do you need any kind of permit there?
@@bkitteh6295 no it’s a public beach
@@michelleking5221 Thanks! I'm planning an (imaginary so far) trip to all the places I want to go mudlarking someday! I'm really into bricks for my garden, so I'd love to see Brick Beach. Unfortunately, I doubt I'd be able to afford getting any back to Washington State. But I can daydream! 😊 🖐😷🇺🇸
I am from Crosby and have never heard it called brick beach before? locals just usually call it 'the erosion' or Burbo bank 🤷♀️
Yeah can we get a "Si just ducks about in Museums and what not" series, I would watch the hell out of that. Much love from Australia brother.
Yes!
Haha I'll consider it!
Oh well, a bad day in Liverpool still beats a good day in Flint Michigan.
It’s always good to see Si-finds has a new video. You really did John proud with your video and friendship last week. He would be very happy that you are keeping your passion live.
Thanks Eileen!!
Great video Si. You're absolutely right that we have to try new places and sometimes they don't yield anything special - but we don't know until we try. It's good to show those explorations as the search for history in itself is compelling. If it yields results that great, but often times it doesn't, as we both know :) . Really enjoyed this and learned a lot. loved the Scotland footage. And you did actually find some fab history. Dinosaur prints. wow.
Aw thanks Nic x I must admit to being a tad disappointedly the lack of finds - but you are spot on - you’ve got to try new places - adventure is hiding around the next corner!!
That was a nice outing. Never been to Liverpool so found it very interesting.
Thanks. Yes it’s a wonderful city with friendly people and lots to do
The metal gag is called a scolds bridle. Originally used on mouthy wives or wives that were a pain in the arse. People may say it was cruel but its better than a ducking stool or being burnt at the stake. That was the alternative back in the day of the scolds bridle. Lol 😆
I so appreciate the effort it must take to get to these fabulous places. I escape the craziness of the USA by watching Nicole and you, along with others. I’m so hooked now. Always an education. I’m not a stranger to Mudlarking although I felt more like an archeologist digging up my finds along the banks of the Blackstone River, in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mudlarkers....take me away! Stay safe and healthy. Until next time.
Awesome Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
awww .. about a million years ago, I lived in Worcester, I remember the Blackstone River .. there should be some goodies to dig up, even some arrowheads?
@@SundaysChild1966 I live in Florida now. I kept 2 bottles that were particularly interesting. Sold the fast majority. The two I kept say FLORIDA WATER. 🙂
@@kathleenstraube5356 ahhh, you ARE blessed! Florida is beautiful, I vacationed there twice, at Christmas time, years ago .. around Tarpon Springs .. one of my fav memories is seeing manatees and dolphins, in the wild, as they should be ..
@@SundaysChild1966 I live close to Tarpon Springs. Beautiful place. I'm a native 🏖💖
I’m having tea and watching Si shlep about in the mud. My Sunday is complete.
Yay 👍🏻🐾🧡
My Beloved Granddad was a docker for over 40 years in Liverpool...The stuff that fell off ships into the mud of the River Mersey...I miss all stories about the characters from the docks and all ships sailing.. ...Great video, Simon...
Ah thanks! I bet he saw a few things!
...also a lot of “stuff” fell off ships into the houses of dock workers...😜...(nuff said)..👍🏻
Thanks for the road trip!
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
Fantastic. I really enjoyed the tour of Liverpool. I have always wanted to visit. Excellent information and presentation. You are the BEST!!
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
There's a lot more accessible parts of the foreshores of Liverpool, I was born an bred in Liverpool, there's Crosby, Waterloo, Otterspool. So many more. 😊😊
Thanks Tracy
@@Sifinds If you go round to the Birkenhead side, you can still find bits of Brunel's broken up SS Great Eastern (as shown on Coast) Will get over there myself one day.
Yeah it's right outside my house at the bottom of new ferry road on the site of the old new ferry pier and a hundred yards down along shore fields is the site of the old exotic disease control unit and we find loads of tiny medicine bottles on the shore and along the wooded path .
@@whitecompany18 I would love to know more about this location. can you give an exact point of reference please ?
I live in Liverpool, have you ever heard about the rubble coast here? It’s where all the rubble from bombed houses in the city centre during the blitz was dumped. It’s about 5 mile of coast line of Victorian dump/ WW1&2 items. People’s marble fire places, bricks, bottles and so much more, was just scooped up and dumped including belongings. So worth a trip !
The scenery around these ruins is absolutely beautiful! 😍 I hope you make more of these videos in the future, and I hope you're being safe. 💛
Thanks so much!
Thanks Simon.
I thought the muddy shore of Liverpool was really interesting- so many unfound objects lurking.
It was nice to go along with you on the journey.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with the world.
Thanks Cindy! 👍🏻🐾🧡
This was all wonderful to watch. The Museum at Liverpool, the Dinosaur footprints beach and the Roman Fort in Scotland. It must be the best fun to go to all of these places and explore them, and even find some treasures no-one else has found! Thank you for sharing all of it, Si. 👏🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏
I really laughed at the end when you talked about not being able to metal detect the Roman fort. I'm sure that you really wish you could. Thanks for sharing all that history.
Haha yeah Lee!
Enjoyed the change of venue! Thanks for taking us on holiday!
Thanks Carla! 👍🏻🐾🧡
to think those walls were erected 2,000 years ago. It's mind boggling, thank you for taking us along on your adventure.
I know right!
😲 WOW, this is perhaps the best "travel vlog" I've ever seen, Si👍🏻!!! Thanks for the tag-along to Liverpool ☺️. So in-depth. Both museum's were incredible, so many displays with truly fascinating artifacts and history 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻.
Sorry 😐 no take away treasures, but you were so correct about the mud...goopy😖😜🤭. Blessings for safety and continued health to you, my friend. 😊🤗🤭😘
Thanks so much!!
Huge episode this week Sci! Looks like a lovely day for searching around in the gloop! That was one heck of a nail you found! Thankyou for the tour around Liverpool and the Museum. That was so fascinating - I never knew of such rich history there. I collect sweetheart badges - I don't have many but look forward to any information in future episodes. I didn't recognise any footprints in the rocks either - sorry 🤓 The stonework at Hardknot Fort is amazing. Thanks for the big day out!
Cheers pal. Yeah that last one was totally a 🐾
Wow!! I feel like I’ve had a nice holiday visiting all these places! Thanks so much!!💕😺😺😺
Thanks Jackie! Saved a few quid too 😂
@@SifindsRight! Even better!!😁
Great video Si,
The museum was very interesting,
Thanks for the tour round !....🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
🍿😄👍 Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Always something interesting on the other shore.✌️♥️♻️
Yeah enjoyed it none the less
Very muddy there. Too bad those cogs were too big and heavy. I would take them for my garden to fix up and just use to decorate. Neat museum, always interesting to learn the history there. Beautiful country out there but must be very cold.
Yes imagine upcycling them! If I lived near I would’ve taken them by now (or someone else would’ve) 👍🏻🐾🧡
Always nice to find a brick with a maker's mark. A whole building is falling apart in the woods by me and there's 1000s of the same brick. Took one for the garden.
Keep going it’ll be like a mega game of Jenga! Lol
That's what I'm always afraid of seeing a mud larker gets stuck in the mud. But that suction noise when you bring your boot out, that's something else.😂😂
History is so wonderful and these mud lands, it tells you a lot about the surrounding area about the people that lived at that time. It's wonderful!!
Thanks for another great video Si!!🌊😊
Thank you for that lovely tour of river Mud Larking and other places, like the Roman ruins. I felt as if I was walking side by side with you today. Thank you for making my day!
That so wonderful to hear. Thank you
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
Your welcome Cindy!
Great video Si, You never know what you may find in a new place unless you go and actually look, if nothing else you satisfy your curiosity 👍
Exactly. Scratch that itch 👍🏻🐾🧡
Just what I needed on a snowy day. Ty
Thanks Lise
Love it! You'll never walk alone! Go reds! Dream to go there one day! Thanks for the little tour!
Thanks Mary! There’s so much more too!
Love the video! It is all the things you look for in a getaway! Mudlarking, fascinating, beautiful and exciting! Thanks Si!
Thanks so much Billie 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks for taking us along with you. The museums were great! And the scenery was beautiful!
Thank you so much 👍🏻🐾🧡
Si, thank you so mych for sharing Liverpool with me. I so want to go soebd time there. The museum was amazing and i think i could sornd days there. And so much American history was there in the horrific slavery display. Many people, myself ibcluded, look to British news for honesty because we know the US news is sugar coated at the least if not heavily censored. So thank you for sharing. If i am ever able to teavel to the UK, this will be one of the places i visit, along with Bath, London and the city in Wales that so kindly treated my father as family during WW2. Bless you, and stay safe.💜
That's lovely to hear. Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
This was a cool video, despite the lack of mudlarking finds! Thanks for showing us around. 🙂
Thanks Breda x
Very cool mate love the sights
Thanks for all the tours, you've shown me places I will never get to see.
My absolute pleasure 👍🏻🐾🧡
This was a fascinating episode. I hope the hedgehogs gave the Romans indigestion!
Wonderful video. Hopefully the foreshore will clean up with more boat traffic. Love the museums and history lessons as well as the Roman Fort.
Cheers Pat. I’m sure it will!
Thank you for a wee holiday jaunt🌞
Thanks Anne 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you Si. It has been a dream of mine to visit England, and especially Liverpool! After seeing the tour you made makes me want to go even more. When you were standing looking out over the Mersey I remembered that song, "Ferry Cross The Mersey". One of my favorite songs. Maybe one day I can stand there and hum it and feel the love. Thanks Si.
Yes I thought of that song too, but can't play those tracks due to copyright - I would have loved to have played the Beatles too - but alas i would have been hung up to dry for trying that lol
Yeah Susan I’m from Liverpool...and I’ve sat in my car looking at our great River.and sang ferry across the Mersey....(and thought, here I’ll stay)...✌🏻
Thank You Si, this was a really great video, I can never get enough history or mud larking..
Thanks Susan 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks for taking us on a trip!
My pleasure 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks Si for the very interesting video. Your part of the world is rich in history. Thanks from the USA!
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
I’ve not been to Liverpool. Enjoyed touring with you. The Roman fort was awesome!!
Thanks so much!
Love the historical blurb u add to the video thats a huge 👍 well done !
Cheers pal. I’m glad it add an extra dimension 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you for the tour Si! It was wonderful! I wish I could have been there in person!
Thank you!
I live in the states, and I am really enjoying the history to your finds and to England itself. Thank you for taking time to show us.
Thanks Yvonne 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you so much for sharing more of your country, loved it!
My pleasure 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks for sharing the museum....very interesting.
Thank you for a most enjoyable video, Si!
Thanks Cindy!
Wow, Simon! That was fantastic! Thanks so much for taking us all to Liverpool! Most of us will never get there in person so you have shown us so many features that we surely would never see. Such a shame that so many huge iron items just sit 8n the mud and rot away. I suppose it’s not worth trying to recycle them though. That spiral in the museum reminded me of the Guggenheim Gallery in New York. Lovely architecture. I really enjoyed the whole vid. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Yes to the Guggenheim - i went there in 2001! Would love to go back
Thank you for the historical tour.
The brick was from Accrington Nori . Local legend has it that the mould for the bricks was made the wrong way round. Bricks made here were known to be the hardest available as " as hard as iron" however because the print came out backwards they were forever known as Accrington Nori instead of Accrinton Iron.
Ha fantastic!
Love Mud Lover's Look Forward every week for it thank you so much for taking us along
Thanks Mary!! 👍🏻🐾🧡
It was interesting seeing the museum from your mudlark perspective. Thank you, I really enjoyed this episode!
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
As an American (and a Texan) I love seeing the different parts of Your country. Thank you. Are you and Nicola a couple
Ahhh that is a question
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡No we are just good friends
Si's a little young for Nicole and I think she has a boe, maybe David????
Si, that was a brilliant video. I love history, and I reckon you placed your hand in a dinosaurs footprint...how cool is that!!!! Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks! Me too! Looked just like the picture on the board right? Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
@@Sifinds definitely looked like the picture on the board. whoa, super cool ( if you're a history nerd like me...us...lol) to know that you have touched where a real life dinosaur once stood. Not many people can lay claim to that ( and live) 🤣🤣😂 🦕🦕
Thank you for this. Loved it. Love history. Love your passion for it.
Really enjoyed this jaunt around Liverpool and the countryside. It would be great if you could do some more of this. The museums are wonderful, store houses of information. I'd be inclined to stay all day. I would be thrilled to visit the U.K. and soak up it's abundant and rich history. Perhaps we'll get there someday, but with so many fascinating sites to see and places to be, I'd be at a loss for where to begin. One thing would be certain, a full English breakfast in the morning, at least once. Excellent video and as always, I'm looking forward to the next. Love, from the U.S.
Thanks Connie! I may just do that!
You're a brave man going down into that mud, Simon! Brunel's ship the SS Great Eastern was broken up in Liverpool and I believe there are still parts of it buried along there.
Wow. Imagine finding a named object from that!
@@Sifinds Ah it's on the Wirral side. Maybe another trip when things settle down. Thank You for your videos. I look at things very differently now when I walk along the beach, but think it's slim pickings on the Liverpool side. ua-cam.com/video/HLObOWZjo5I/v-deo.html
Loved the historical and museum tours. You should sell a few of your vids to the UK tourist office.
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
That was most enjoyable . I always look at the large objects ( cogs , anchors , etc ) and think it surprising that nobody has coveted them enough to scrounge up a few friends and haul them of home for the joy of them .
I really enjoyed this video Si thank you!
That was great fun! Thank you for taking us along.
My pleasure 👍🏻🐾🧡
Very well done, thank you Si,!
Thanks Sci, quite fascinating!
What beautiful scenery in Scotland and Liverpool. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
Thank you for taking us along with you so show us bits of history that many of us would never know about awesome video
Great video! Interesting stuff. I’d love to go to those museums. Thanks for taking me a long !
Yes we have some of the best museums in the world!
Thank you! That was so interesting.
Great video. Thankyou.
Excellent loved it
Thanks for that adventure! 💕
Thank you Simon. Another interesting video.
Thank you for the tour
I always look forward to your Sunday postings, which both educate and entertain.
Aw thanks Gary! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks Simon that was a great video for distraction and inspiration to make the trip across the pond when we are ever able to travel again.
Really, really, really enjoyed this Si 💖😃
Wonderful show. So interesting. Thanks 😀
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the Tour! Hello from Oklahoma USA
might not have found much in the muck, but the museums and sightseeing was great fun.
Thanks!!
Such a beautiful video love the tour and interesting relics tfs xxx
oh my gosh, I'm not even finished watching yet and I just love it. Love the beatles, you so lucky to have their memorabilia. I was once in Huston TX and went to the hard rock cafe and saw some beatles memorabilia there. So cool
thank you si soo nice to see other parts/ histories outside the 4 walls ;];];] would love to see more stuff like this mixture;];];]stay safe!!! also the video you did of john..that was awesome !!! he would be patting you on the back for sure, keep the dream alive si;];];]

Those Dino prints give me goose bumps!! So cool!! 🦖🦖🦕
that was fascinating, Si! Thanks so much! I especially enjoyed the tour of the museums. Hugs from Canada! 🤗
Thanks! 👍🏻🐾🧡
This was so much fun! It was a field trip, and it was fascinating, informative, and I loved every moment! I live in the States, and going to the UK would be a dream come true. But the next best thing is having Simon as a virtual tour guide. The martime museum was fascinating, as I love maritime history. Thank you Simon for taking us on this great trip!
Profound and sobering tour of the Museums . Thanks for sharing your journey.
*_Bloody Well Amazing this Larking is._*
Loved the Roman fort and the museum tours! More of that please!
