      Yeah, well schools now get stripped of educational value as each gov takes its toll. The sbags learnt that to stay in power, and enjoy the fruits of our labour, they have to have a quiet and uneducated mass of voters. You get more education from channels like these than you get in years of school because of it.

I hope you'll keep the episodes coming for many years yet, Si-finds. It's all wonderful stuff!!! The Emerald intaglio!!! Wow!!! And Roman's wore garnets around their necks to keep them from harm. Garnet rough stones were made into seals and intaglio gems. Maybe that is how garnets made it into the Thames!🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏 Cheers, Si-finds.

    Yes, that's exactly who I saw in that face, Davey Jones but I also saw an oriental man sitting. He has one of those moustaches that is separate from the beard.
    Jesus was put to death by Roman soldiers and they nailed people to a stake/pole, then they would stab at the flesh of the one on the stake/pole. Then once they passed away, they would take the dead one and wrap him in cloths with spices, then they put them in the tombs and placed a boulder rock over the hole of the tomb.
    All very interesting.

    Most likely Mary and St. John if common iconography is followed. Possibly his mother and Mary Magdalene.
    The first one is speculation based upon the Saint-Denis Crystal, which is also an intaglio.

    • @patstats1
      @patstats1 2 роки тому

      The usual depictions of the crucifixion show 2 Marys (sometimes a third Mary) at the feet of Christ: Mary, mother of Christ; and Mary Magdalene (and Mary of Clopas who is Christ’s mother’s sister or sister-in-law.) Nice find. Christianity begins with the birth of Christ (anno Domini) and develops in the Mediterranean and Levant until well-established 300 years after the crucifixion in 33AD. It could well be a Roman intaglio. Wanting to hear what age the museum puts on the piece. Also hoping it is emerald and not cut glass!

    Those garnet stones are amazing - because someone took the time to drill a hole in them - for a necklace - those stones went into a bit of jewelry - long time ago - just plain little stones, but for a time, they were beautiful jewelry -

    My running theory on the garnets are a ships ballast load. The trading ships would repack the ballast holds with whatever could survive getting wet and offload them at home port, sometimes as a bonus sometimes as to make every ounce of the journey count. China dishes were first introduced this way.
