french guy here who is old enough to remember the last 45 years of Roland Garros... i can assure you that guga is one of the most beloved winners of the tournament... a true legend who will never be forgotten... merci pour tout guga
Restava jogar no video game e assistir o Guga!
I was working in Paris that summer. Only able to watch on big screen and watching Guga draw the heart in the court, it was magical! Few yrs later I was working in Vail and I was able to tell him how joyful it was in Paris, this when he would come to the hotel swimming pool for therapy after his surgery.
Thx very much! But @Roland-Garros, i asked a couple weeks ago if from the 1997 tournament no footage of Kuerten's first two matches vs Dosedel and Bjorkman exist? I guess not, because here in this clip you show the two but from other matches. I am a Kuerten fan since this tournament, and to this day i never saw a video or foto from his first matches vs Dosedel and Bjorkman.
Um exemplo bem claro: no final ele diz “how you’re able to involve” e eles legendaram como “how you’re able to evolve” (como você é capaz de evoluir), mas pode ser que ele tenha querido dizer “how you’re able to be/get involved)” (como você é capaz de se envolver).
Watching this skinny kid from Brazil with flowing topspin strokes was wonderful. I must, however, comment on a sponsor's ad. In the "Can't go" ad , maybe the lady's problem is that she forgot to take her pants off.
Loved watching Guga, but at the end of the day, he could only really play on one surface. Had a few good hard court results, but it was mostly all clay.
He was a clay specialist (easily between the 8 or 10 best claycourt players of all time) but was also a great hardcourt player. He has a trophy in 2001Cincinatti Masters 1000 beating Rafter in the final and became n°1 of the world winning an indoor Masters cup in 2000 beating Sampras on semis and Agassi in the final (the only player to beat both of them in the same tournament). And unfortunately he played in high level only for 4 years due the back injury, if weren't for that certainly he could win other big tournaments...on clay and hardcourts.
No. In 2000 he won the Masters by beating Sampras and Agassi on indoor hard court, the fastest surface on tour. In 2001 he destroyed Rafter in the final of Cincinnati. He had a versatile game like Wawrinka and could have won the US Open. But unfortunately his hip injury ruined his career. He was limited only on grass, due to a rebound that was too low for his game.
He was getting better on hardcourt to become a winner. Won Indianapolis beating Safin a week before Cincinatti, let's not forget he had to win two matches in that day. Tim Heman and later Patrick Rafter two of the best on that type of surface.

Who wrote those subtitles? Why are they changing Guga's words ?

He can beat Nadal.

Guga was #1 for 43 weeks, 13th overall in the history of the sport. You don't achieve this playing only one surface
No. In 2000 he won the Masters by beating Sampras and Agassi on indoor hard court, the fastest surface on tour. In 2001 he destroyed Rafter in the final of Cincinnati. The new poly Luxilon strings that he used made him a god for awhile. Until eveyone was using them.

Why you guys roland garros hates kafelnikov? He is the last man to win singles and doubles n there is no video of him in your channel?
