- One of the biggest accomplishments for a coin collector is to complete a coin series. Completing a coin album can be a challenge but some are far easier than others. Peace dollars are a beautiful United States coin that someone can easily obtain to complete an album. In this video, I go on a journey to fill my Dansco Peace Dollar album. Thank you for watching!

Probably the most undervalued and unappreciated coin. It's a great design in my opinion.
It’s interesting that so many collectors don’t enjoy it.
Actually there are many, many underappreciated United States coins. That’s why some hard to locate coins in high-quality, circulated grades such as Choice Extremely Fine-45 sell for less than an easily obtainable coin in a much more popular (widely collected) series like Morgan Dollars and Walking Liberty Halves.
Nice! My first coin was a 22 Peace Dollar, given to me by my grandmother in the 70s. It has the weirdest color toning, almost like it's tea stained. It hits me right in the soul when I look at it.
I have been collecting peace dollars for a while now I love them like I love my morgans
You're right, I recently finished filling my Lincoln cent album, and putting that last coin in just has such a satisfying feeling.
My grandfather gave me Peace dollars when I was a around 5; it was my first silver. I gave some to my daughter but still have a couple. I'm so glad I kept them. I added another one to my stack just yesterday.
The Peace Dollar rekindled my coin collecting fire. 🔥
Always fun to fill an album. Now the fun part:to fill the holes! Thanks for sharing and have a great day everyone.
Cool vid! You don't see many collecting vids anymore so this was a nice change of pace! Thanks!
What rabbit hole you taking us now my friend 😜😜 thanks for sharing
A slippery slope I assure you ;)
Thanks for giving the Peace Dollars the much needed Due it deserves. Obivously i love the Peace dollars please keep up the Good Work!
Great video I think we are all collectors at heart
I’m working on so many books at once. Just got 2 of the infamous 1909s vdb’s
My friend, you got the coin fever...
Congratulations, SpegTacular on the very nice A.U.-55 1928 dollar !!!
That 1928P is gorgeous, mine is in nowhere near as good of condition. I’m trying to fill the album this summer. Going for common circulation examples at first.
I am thrilled for you!!! I flashed back to my coin collecting days ('55- '58). Yep, coin rolls.
With silver premiums up, I switched from stacking to focusing on filling my coin albums. It's actually the better play at this time, until premiums come down.
I've been focusing on silver proof sets and pre 64 P & D sets that I can get just under current spot price. I'm also looking for BU examples of the common coins for my albums, before the rising spot price starts to affect their values.
That’s the great part of being a coin collector and a stacker. We get to take advantage of the high priced times by going back to our hobbies;)
doug ford doing the same. Not getting Morgan though. Unless a good price. Finished my 20th century set ((AU-proof). Need to work on 19th century set
@@erictavis6403 I've gotten into the habit of: When I finish an album page, I buy a common BU morgan or peace dollar that I need. When I finish an album, I buy a BU better/key date coin.
My LCS finally corrected their BU Morgan price this week. Was picking them up for $28 now they are $38😣 might have to get some peace dollars while they stay cheap
Congrats on getting most of the tough coins first. Sooner or later, you'll be able to upgrade some in the set with better examples. Love that 21 high relief. If you had the 22 high relief, you'd have a real gem. No space for that one in this album though. Thanks for sharing my friend. Just heard the door close. lol
Always fun to fill an album. Fun video , Bill
Great video. I love the Peace Dollar. I learned from your vid that liberty was designed after his wife. Really cool fact.
I only have 11 Peace Dollars, all Philadelphia and common years. Better than none I guess. Nice collection you have there sir.
Love it. Working on mine now. Got my 21 and 28p, so all downhill now with my last 8. My family got me on whitman alums, so that is what I continue to use
Awesome video! I just started collecting again and I love the Peace Dollars. I haven't watched the whole video yet so I'll comment when you're done. I have a hard time buying raw peace dollars because of CV19 not a lot shops in my area open to buy them in person. I have a hard time telling if they have been cleaned by looking online/eBay , etc. To me your 1921 looked cleaned, bit I am in no way an expert. Very nice collection!
Hello, from the UK, I have 4 Peace Dollars in my collection. I was wondering about the 'U' on the obverse. I too would not be over concerned about the condition because bullion grade is easier to sell (no auctions etc), but you can always replace them later. Do not sell what you replace though, put them in a tube instead! Thank you for making this video. Very interesting. (most of my collection is US silver too).
Awesome collection. I'm working on a couple sets atm and a type set but this would be a fun and easy set to fill. Gonna add it to my next list. And importantly most of the coins have little premium over silver
Enjoy your videos speg I watch them all. I have this album completed it's fun going searching around for the coins isn't it. Once the coin bug hits you its over I been doing it 55 yrs now and still enjoy looking at a common 1936 buffalo nickel or find a wheat cent in change. I think you do a great job promoting our hobby on you tube. I will promote your channel as much as I can my friend. Hey speg they ever catch that squirrel that tried to steal your silver.
Thanks Rick. The squirrel is still loose.
Lady liberty is hotter on the peace dollar than the morgan dollar! 😜
Agreed
Got that right.
Her actual photo is much better looking than the coin design.
@@0004612 Very much so, She was a head turner.
if you really want a hot lady, get a 1921 that is well struck MS quality.
Very nice collection of Peace dollars... It is a beautiful coin! 🤙🏼
Thanks brotha!
Great video Speggy! Just some easy ones to find and fill😀👊
So, I’m the guy who couldn’t find a Dansco type set book. I was in Coin Guy’s shop a few days ago and he had a used one. It looks brand new and he only charged me twenty dollars for it! I was so glad to find one. Alt, Coin Guy is probably laughing knowing the money I’m going to spend on the coins.
Very nice!!! Took us Several years to do ours. You almost there!👍😊
Excellent video, very nice 1928 p!!
Speg
Never considered filling a book of the Peace dollars but I think you've spark my interest.
That’s a great looking album speg, I look forward to seeing you complete it. I’ve been out of the game a while, but I’m slowly buying again. Thanks for sharing
I have a 1928 peace dollar in my desk and googled its value. Then used a magnifying glass only to see 1923. hehe.. oh well, I still like the coin. Enjoyed the video!
This video inspires me! Thanks for the education and insight Speg!
Thanks for checking it out man! Enjoy our history.
The best coin in the world and a collection that can appreciate to insane amounts ! Just started mine 3 weeks ago
Better to fill it now than later
Trying for all mint state under 3000 bucks 😉
I love this coin series. I too am working on completing my peace set. If your curious to see what I've managed to pick up check it out on NGC. It is "the Cinderella yearbook" set.
It's been many years since I used a coin album of any kind. There really is something satisfying about finishing one, though. Seeing you work on yours reminds me how much fun they can be. Thanks :)
Very nice collection.
Awesome album speg, so satisfying to watch, only 6 left!
So close!
I know from some of your previous videos you have some Australian silver coins. They make very beautiful collections as well! I've got a Dansco book of Australian shillings 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing!
I don't always agree with everything you say on your videos. But I DO respect someone who makes an honest effort in Coin Collecting. . . . regardless of which Series it is. Good Luck in completing your Peace Dollars collection. I can understand why you like them.
that 1928 is very nice. also i like the 1921 with the high relief.
Very cool Speg!!!
For the collector starting out. Peace Dollars are the way to go. Peace dollars are a little cheaper than Morgan Dollars, except for the 1923 High relief Matt proof which is around $25 K oh well. Great vid Speg. I enjoy your vids a lot.
Thanks Mike.
Of course, there are also some rare 1921 and 1922 High Relief proofs as well, and they also command a lot of money.
@@rogerkinard7446 Yes Roger you are right. But my thought was to the new collector that is starting a collection of 90% silver dollars. Peace Dollars compared to Morgans are bit cheaper
You mean 1922 high relief proof. . . and they sell for a minimum of 250k
Peace dollars are my favorite they are such a beautiful coin. But like you where saying so undervalued by coin collectors.
More of this speg!!!
Ok!
I love Peace Dollars, I am putting together a collection in a Littleton album.
Great video, Peace out.
.... I see what you did there.
@@Spegtacular 😏
The peace dollar is probably my favorite dollar coin. I still need them for my key date type set.
Nice collection so far. Got 1923 and 25 from CoinHELPu not long ago.
Good times. I prefer the Morgan, but definitely don't hate on the Peace either. Be well 🦅
Very nice video. I recently ordered two Peace Dollars from JM Bullion
Yes I enjoye it thanks
Hey great video my friend. I like peace dollars and I don't mind about the condition at all. the only album i have is for silver Washington quarters and i love it. I have a lot of missing dates but its fun. Loved that you reminded the low mintages ones so we know what to look for. Take care
-Venezuelan Stacker
Sweet
Fun fact: The Standing Liberty quarter design also has "In God We Trvst'' on it but no one ever seems to notice it on that coin.
This is my jam!!! I started with a danco but after I completed it I started doing ms 64 min
Look at how that 1928 keeps shapeshifting into a 1923! That's a common mistake out there too and this video inadvertently proved how it happens. If you see a 1923 you better look twice and again a 3rd time to make sure you're really looking at a 1923. That's a sweet 1928 there too wow.
There was a year where it was very hard to get maples or eagles. My coin dealer had a lot of U.S. constitutional. I ended up getting a lot of U.S. Peace dollars and half dollars, along with dimes and quarters in both U.S. and Canadian silver.
Been working hard to get my Danscos filled. Have Lincolns (except1909s vdb), nickels, dimes, quarters, presidents, and working hard to finish the buffalos. V nickels and Mercuries only half done. Have been so much fun. Want to also do a type book 😁 Also have states and America the beautiful almost done!
If I saw that in a coin shop and the price was right I would buy that album.
Look at old English, there was no J until 1811, and mountains was spelled movntaines because a double U is a double V when the V was a U. I'd say that print on the peace dollar was also to appeal to the older generations of that time
Sure. It’s really just an artists touch.
@@Spegtacular I know but it's not foreign is all I'm saying. A lot of definitions and spelling and even letters have changed over the last many years so it's just wild to see where we're at now
Working on a MS set of Peace. It's like 25 individual examples, so it's attainable to the average person.
I have the same Dansco Peace dollar that I collected with gaps too . I didn’t like to pay $35 for a Peace dollar
Almost have my dansco peace dollar album full. Saving up for the 1928 P. Its rather expensive and I want to make sure I dont get one with the S buffered off.
i added a 1928-p peace dollar to my collection, paid 188 for it.do you think thats a good price, its xtra fine coin, beautiful,my favorite coin i have.
the 1928 has a flatter rim on it. the 1928-S has a more rounded edge. thats how you tell the difference.
I like Peace dollars the best
If silver coins aren’t graded, in your opinion is it better to store them in quality album rather than capsules?
I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks
Spegtacular it’s been three years since this video. Have you completed the album yet?
I really like the Peace dollar over the Morgan. The Peace album just appeals more to me. Thanks for the video.
It’s complete!
that 1928 P is beautiful, its almost too good to go in an album, it would be absolutely ok to have it graded. are you gonna get a comparable 1934 S ?
You never know with me lol. It’s all about what I’m able to find.
are you going to start upgrading pieces once you fill the album ?? Coin Guy can hook you up :)
Maybe but filling is it the only thing on my mind at the moment.
Oh there my very first ones
how much do you consider that 1928-p to be valued at.i have one in very fine condition, better than yours actually.do you think i should get it graded
Yours is not in better condition if it is in “very fine”
I do like the Peace dollar but lean more to the Morgan. 👍
Where is the 1922 high relief peace dollar?!?!?!? LOL!!!!!!!
Not something I’ll be buying any time soon I assure you ;)
@@Spegtacular I guess the $100,000 plus price makes it hard to buy... just a little bit. LOL!!!!!
Is it wrong that I cheer when the edit cheers? I'm not a kid even if I act like one...😂
I fully support your weirdness.
1921 is a High Relief coin, one year only...
Sir, I'm also working on a Peace Dollar Dansco, and would appreciate if you cease making these videos until I've finished the book. Thank you for your understanding. XD
If the 1921 Peace Dollar is more valuable than the 1928, then that doesn’t make any sense!
It’s not
I still blame you for getting excited about peace dollars. Have a shit load of them now. Just pickec a entire collection at auction for 2k. All nice examples. 😂😂😂
This address is not here
Grade the 28
A.U.-55 ! 🤔🤓
@@rogerkinard7446 your still looking at close to $400 gray sheet!!
I cant see on my phone that well and can't do 1080P but I bet that would get low MS. i have seen some shitty 28 Ps in slabbed as MS by the big 2
Corey Nagle Absolutely you’re correct about the third-party professional 😉🤣😂 grading services assigning Mint State grades to circulated coins. However, if SpegTacular chooses in the future to submit it to NGC or PCGS and it was assigned a grade of MS-60, -61, -62, -63, or whatever, he wouldn't be happy with my offer for the A.U. key-date Peace Dollar !!! 🤨😖🤣😂
@@rogerkinard7446 what I ment was FX 45
It keeps erasing my comments.
Sometimes that happens to me too.
@@Spegtacular ok since this one stuck I'll type it again. There are actually 3 key dates in the 24 coin series. The 21 HR the 28 P and the 34 S. In 1928 Philadelphia told the public the mintage would be low from them. They released a press release which caused the coin to be hoarded. This has resulted that even though the mintage is low a lot have survived and usually in great condition. Still will run you 400 bucks for a BU. The 34 S was also low mintage, just over a million and no press releases were made. The coin was heavily circulated and has resulted in a condition rarity. Once you get into the BU and MS realm it can be one of the most expensive of the business strikes. Excellent video and thumbs up my friend. I love the Peace dollar and have them all in my Dansco Album, wonderful coin.
Loved the vid but please straighten them out, their all sideways
Your neck is crooked. The coins are straight.
SpegTacular 😂😂😂
