@@loredomattoni1496oh yeah definitely the 60s were the bills reached 3 AFL championship games and winning twice in 1964 and 1965 AFL championships 1964-1966 Go BILLS
O.J. got his 200 yds vs. the Bengals in a Monday Night game, 11/17/75, but Ken Anderson overshadowed him with 447, an amazing total in the heart of the "dead ball" age and in the toughest division, the AFC Central. This was Anderson's 2nd straight year of passing dominance, prefiguring the "air ball" of the future with almost 3.5K yds. of team passing (no other team reached 3000). The mark would remain unchallenged until Bill Wash worked with his next QB pupil, Dan Fouts of the Chargers, who would soon be viewing Walsh's films of Anderson running Walsh's "West Coast Offense." To add insult to injury, Walsh managed to wrest away from the devastated Bengals future All-Star receiver (the "best ever" in Walsh's view), Charlie Joiner, who proved indestructible. Finally, the Bengals chose NOT to draft Kellen Winsow in '79, leaving the Chargers with a HOF QB throwing to 2 HOF receivers (plus Jefferson). The Bengals had an accurate passer and an overworked Isaac Curtis--not enough to fetch Cincinnati its first Ring, esp. in the Div. of the Steel Curtain. Their consolation was making it to the Super Bowl (unlike the Chargers), where they lost, despite doubling Montana's passing yardage during a furious 2nd half comeback stopped short at the 2 yd line.
@jd 1970 the Bengals blew them out in the regular season 40-17 if I remember right. Chargers fans always blaming the weather in the 81 AFC Championship. Neither team was accustomed to -59 degree wind chill temps. Amazing how well Ken Anderson threw the ball in that game but Fouts passes looked like wounded ducks
Very few RB's made the Steel Curtain look ridiculous. The Juice did it multiple times. OJ Simpson is one of the top 5 running backs in NFL history along with Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Earl Campbell, and Barry Sanders. The Bills had a great O-Line too and Jim Braxton was a beast at FB. It's too bad their defense was so horrible in 1975
Being the younger brother in Rochester during this time I was never able to be OJ when we played on the front lawn so I was Braxton. My dude. Those two together were pretty awesome.
Boy if Joe Ferguson was about 2 years more mature as a QB the Bills had a shot with OJ and Lou Saban. Ralph Wilson should have spent on defense as well. No salary cap other than the Owners willingness to invest 😕
Bills of the mid 70s were exciting, lots of noise and fury signifying nothing. They have a 28-7 lead against the Colts but lose 42-35 in a game that was Bert Jones coming out party. Simpson runs for 200 yards in Pittsburgh and the Bills run up and down the field versus the vaunted Steel Curtain., they beat the 11-3 Cardinals too but can't beat the lowly Giants on a Monday night nor can they beat the Dolphins a single time. 1975 was a loaded year in the AFC with really solid Bengals,Oilers, Raiders teams to go along with the Colts, Dolphins and juggernaut Steelers. There's only 4 playoff spots and the Bills had no margin for error that year
The Bills defense is what really cost them in 1975 and losing to teams like the Giants that they shouldve beaten pretty badly and that Colts game. Its too bad Ralph Wilson was too cheap to hire a first rate GM and Head Coach and build a team around OJ Simpson. Lou Saban was a pretty decent coach but O-Line and Jim Braxton were great though. RW lucked out on the Bill Polian hire in the early 80's. BP was an unknown who was already working for the Bills organization then. RW was just too cheap to go outside the organization and hire a top notch GM but BP turned out to be a genius. He drafted Bruce Smith and Andre Reed in 1985, convinced Jim Kelly to sign with the Bills and hired HC Marv Levy in 86, pulled off the Cornelius Bennett trade in 87, and drafted Thurman Thomas in 88. One of the best GM's in NFL history
What happened to the Bills defense. Dave Washington, Jim Cheyunski, and Neal Craig. Remember them the year before when the Bills were 2nd in defense in the AFC? Well the Bills got rid of them....and that destroyed the defense.
As you might have noticed, that comment was made a year ago. Honestly it was more on the hopeful side but mediocre was really putting it mildly. This years defense was awful. 2014 we had a good Defense. So how bout 2014 defense, even 1980's and the '75 Bills Offense would = SB!
This was the best era of Football 70's and 80's. That is when legendary men played the game !
And 1960s
@@loredomattoni1496oh yeah definitely the 60s were the bills reached 3 AFL championship games and winning twice in 1964 and 1965 AFL championships 1964-1966 Go BILLS
1975 Bills Offense + 2019 Bills Defense = Unstoppable
You forget the Buffalo Bills had NO Wide Receivers who were ANY good after Elbert Dubinion came along until Andre Reed and James Lofton.
The 1999 bills allowed less points, the fewest by any bills team in a 16 game season. Also, the no huddle. Kelly, Thomas, Lofton, Reed, Davis, Beebe
Joe Ferguson led the nfl in passing tds, and oj Simpson led the league in rushing yards, touchdowns, and overall scoring
Bills were still pretty good in the 70s they still won alot of games through out the seasons at least they went to the playoffs in 1974

Ken Anderson should be in the HOF in my opinion

That was a long comment

Even when they didn't have good teams, the Bill's weren't shy about hitting.
If Lou Saban not quit, Joe Ferguson would be one of the greatest QBs ever

Damm!!! The Juice broke on the steel curtain

Buffalo was better when they played grass mud snow not Rich Stadium where they suck!!
Joe Mama it hasnt been Rich stadium in a long time. Jim Kelly's Bills were pretty damn good.
I prefer natural grass fields but I'm just happy they don't play in a dome like the Vikings and Lions do now
This offense + this years defense would = Super Bowl!!!
Mryrhodesian you cant be serious? This years defense was mediocre.
