This helps cement in my mind that the o-line is more important than the skilled position players. Morris and Csonka were my favorite players, but Csonka’s production was easier to replace thanks to that line.

I remember the 1975 season and THIS game! Incredible how the injuries kept piling up and eventually catching up the dolphins who finished 10-4.

They and the 77 Dolphins get my vote for the best team(s) to miss the playoffs in the one WC team era. Both lost out on tie- breakers. 75 was head to head vs. Colts and 77 was Conference record vs. Colts.

@@davidpridham3741 it was seasons like this and the Bengals going 10-4 in 1976 and missing the postseason that led to the second wild card in 1978.

The last hurrah of the older Championship players. My favorite player Mercury Morris was traded to San Diego the next season and others started retiring.

And Norm Evans, who arrived in the 1966 Expansion draft from The Oilers, left via the 1976 Expansion draft to the Seahawks.

Despite the praise given by the narrator, this was the season when it became obvious that the Dolphins had lost their prowess. The departure of Warfield, Kiick and Csonka marked their decline from greatness.

The nucleus of a promising new defense was put into place with defensive tackles, Randy Crowder and Don Reese. But this was decimated with their subsequent arrests couple years later

Watching that Oilers Dolphins game on a small black and white tv as a kid was eye straining.

A fine team that had hard luck with QB injuries late in the season. With Griese - this team wins the fog bowl game versus Colts.
    10-4 was an achievement.

They should have won it with Strock , he became dolphins ace off the bench into late 70s and early 80s .

@@mr.majestic2667 strock was a raw inexperienced rookie in 75 - playing with a dumbed down playbook. Bert Jones was a dynamic veteran playing a winner takes all game at home. This was not yet the accomplished career backup strock of the 80s. Earl Morrall was injured and Griese was injured. Miami took game to OT with its 3rd string QB.

1975 was Don Shula's best coaching job with a roster that was turned over due to injury and defections to the then rival World Football League and still managed to win 10 games. His other best coaching job they say was in 1981 when they won the AFC East with both David Woodley and Don Strock (Wood-Strock) taking turns playing QB and the Dolphins finished with an 11-4-1 record, the first season of the post-Bob Griese era which ended with a loss at home in the AFC Divisional playoffs to the San Diego Chargers in OT.
Many will remember David Woodley as the Dolphins QB who came right in after Bob Griese retired after the 1980 season and in less than 3 full seasons later was replaced by Dan Marino in 1983.

They lost one of those four games 20-19 to the oilers on the road. 3 touchdowns but only 19 points? How you say? Because of not one but TWO blocked PAT's. Unbelievable. They win that and it's 11-3 and another AFC east title and renders the 10-7 fog bowl loss irrelevant. Unreal. The guy who blocked those 2 extra points against Houston that ended up costing Miami the season? Bubba Smith. Why bring him up? Because he's the same Bubba Smith who blocked a PAT for Oakland against Miami the year before in the famed sea of hands game that ended Miami's season in the 74 playoffs. You would have thought Yepremian, Shula and the whole special teams coaching staff seeing him lined up there that they would have made sure that he would not be able to reprise what he did in Oakland. Nope.

Same thing happened in the Epic in Miami. Another fine season ended early because they let Kellen Winslow block not one, but TWO field goal attempts; either of which would have won the game for Miami

Wow, the Dolphins had a dynamic player like Freddie Soloman and they traded him away?! Was it worth it?...

For the first couple of years for Miami at the time, yeah, benefited from the trade while San Fran was one of the worst football teams in the NFL and the niners stockpiled on picks (Miami #1) before Bill Walsh arrived. Duriel Harris emerged as the starter and left Solomon at the time a backup. For longevity, it certainly worked out better for the niners. In the long run, they should have traded Duriel Harris instead of Solomon.
