Am I the only person who actually thinks these songs are really good?
Elizabeth Gould Hello, I'm argentinian, I'm not communist and I love this song jajajajajajajaja where are you?
Elizabeth Gould listening in USA and I find the music to be so interesting and catchy. I have been listening to a lot of Ri Kyong Suk today!
Elizabeth Gould nope i love this song. the search for it is over
I hate communism, but these songs are great

That's it! I was wondering what made these so interesting
The photographer is now in the friend zone...hum, the comrade zone 😂
I don't know if anyone cares, but lately I have been listening to a lot of songs from the DPRK. It's a difficult topic to bring up in conversations, because the first thing we think about when we hear 'North Korea' is the government regime. We don't actually know a lot about the reality of life in that country as it's so disconnected from the world.
But here's the thing, I'm in love with so many of their songs. I used to listen to South Korean music as well before, but it's just not the same, and strangely, the 'propaganda' songs of the North kind of have more soul to them.
I was actually born in Russia long after the collapse of the USSR, but these songs remind me of something made back in those times, it really strongly reminds of it. :/
Some people told me before that I speak like a communist, and now I'm here listening to a North Korean pop song... Concerning, maybe I'm a commie after all. :)
it is very beautiful music!
ah really? we dont know? i think you can just search it up.....
in my early childhood I grew up with soviet songs and almost every nkpop song ive listened to has reminded me of them like i get you
North korea was vaporwave before
North Korea isn't outdated, Good ol' Kim likes Vaporwave, and this is very aesthethic.

I'd go so far and say they've been there before us and well, they're probably gonna stay there for a while..
In North Korea this video could have been filmed in 1984 or 2024 and the quality wouldn't be any different.
Well... maybe she wants to date him but just don't want him to mention her name? Or... perhaps she just wants to run after him to tell him to write about how great the Party is!
Hahahahahaha exactly man!

This song is beautiful
I’m not fond of the regime, but these ensembles and bands make beautiful music 🎉
and the regime makes good politics, too
That's maturity .. There's a unique beauty about North Korean music, both political and non political like this ..
In the beginning it looked like she found the cure for cancer

Прекрасная песня, о скромной девушке. Почему таких больше не делают???
Leftists always get into arguments about the worst communists. The true question is who are the best communists. This video says the best communists are the nameless ones who put in the work and don't ask or expect credit, because they understand they're part of a larger, collective effort. We should all strive to emulate their example.
Komunis , kapitalis semua nya akan buruk jika dilakukan secara ekstrim

i’ve loved this song for a long time, but more recently i’ve been noticing how tight and nice the bass line is!

north korea has many great songs
So much better than today's South Korean poop I mean pop music.
South Korean pop music is about selling consumer products, and to do this the videos present an illusion of individual self-empowerment and autonomy. The message of this song, however, is that the young worker does not have to sell herself, because she works for the good of her community as a whole.
She's not a "brand," i.e. she's not a commodity, so nobody needs to know her name.
Trakfactri the South Korean market is oversaturated with sexual imagery and sexualization of young girls turning their bodies into market commodities, the K-pop music of South Korea isn’t even very good, that’s why I prefer this music video.
@@elliottlastnameblank7916 South Korean singers tend to flash themselves in the most selacious ways on stage occassionally, stuff that aren’t even included in dance moves. So much for feminism.
@@stoggafllik "Feminism is a refuge for a woman's sexual failure" - Dave the MGTOW guy
@@elliottlastnameblank7916 Either way, we need to get rid of both. Feminism is de-feminising women and turning them into men-hating female incels. Sexual culture is turning women into overt sl*ts.

@@arashi20xx31 Many memories of the time of my youth come up
When I open the picture album
The old comrades-in-arms, from that day of the war
Looking at me, are asking:
Are we still living like in those days?
Are we still living like in those days?
Spilling our hot blood beyond the Raktong river
Like every day of those days
Impossible to forget, the picture of these colourful days
Running accross the hard-fought
vacant land, taking the first spade to break the earth
The comrades-in-arms are looking at me:
How can we ever forget those days?
How can we ever forget those days?
Tightening our belt, and singing revolutionary songs
Every day of those days
Although the time of those youth memories has passed
although our appearance has changed
The mind, following the motherly party
is still young
We will always live like in those days
We will always live like in those days
We harden in our hearts that

My favorite North Korean song
Search for "I want to make clear sky"
My favorite is “I Think” by Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble
I started listening to North Korean music recently. I live on Maui. This is one of my favorite songs so far. I like this one as well as "rainbow unification, and it's various permutations
I don't understand the premise of the song... She's all like "Don't ask my name!" but she clearly has the hots for the photographer...
The thing is that she doesn’t think that her identity matters. Like a mysterious enchanter.
Because no individual person is as important as the the people.
Being humble is a very important value in North Korea, both because of traditional Korean culture and communist collectivism. "Don't Ask My Name" is about being humble and telling others to focus not on one's individual but the collective, which is why the video is filled with scenes of the woman refusing praise.

I think this is a cute song, but North Korea has moved on since that time (early 2000s). It's progressing at the speed of China, but with less compromise on the ideology. Personally I wish this country and its people all the best. Everyone else should mind their own business! Koreans are among the smartest people on this planet. I think North Korea will prevail and prosper.

juche before boys
I think this song is about a woman who wants to remain anonymous even though people keep asking her what her name is; especially a guy who is absolutely in love with her. She wants to keep it a secret because of her family in the North. So the part about "Our Party" is totally irrelevant to the rest of the song.
She doesn't want to tell her name, because she thinks that it's not important. She thinks that only the name of the Party matters.
very good song *-*

Tasteful, I must admit. And I must also admit this was made before the " Arduous March", the time when the Soviet Union fell started to hit hard, and Russia could not support the DPRK anymore. Before the Famine outside of the Gilded Gates of Pyongyang. The DPRK was never self sufficient, and the Soviet Union collapsed from within. The Arduous March started before US Sanctions to the DPRK. It started when Russia abandoned the DPRK. Self sufficiency... and Clinging to the no more existence of the Soviet Union, and the DPRK still clinging to the Soviet Atheist ways, no matter the Cost to it's own People outside the Beautiful City of Willow Trees, Pyongyang. The " Capitol " in the Hunger Games, which we Americans would call it, .😊
구국의 명곡
where is the video from? is it from a DPRK rom com or smth? I NEED ANSWERS pls
This is worryingly decent
I am big fan of North Korean ideology and music from India
This is a song about the special period after the fall of the Soviet Union. The song is about a girl divided between her feelings and the commitment to the country and the party. This was a period of famine in North Korea, mainly because the USSR was their main economic partner, so marrying and having child means more people to feed. After all is a propaganda song, but a good one.
And I'm a communist who support the country... But is the reality about the tragedy that was the fall of the USSR
At least most of the post USSR problems have been fixed or minimised
No, it's a very straightforward, socialist message. The young worker does not have to sell herself, because she works for the good of her community as a whole.
She's not a "brand," i.e. she's not a commodity, so nobody needs to know her name.
This is because labor is not a commodity under socialism. It's similar to the Chinese communist story of Lei Feng, who was a selfless comrade would always work very hard and never ask for credit.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lei_Feng
It was written before the fall. So nice try but no.
Wondering if Ri Gyeong Suk is still alive. Or if she's somehow related to the current Korean first lady Ri Sol-ju... Can't find any real data online about either unfortunately.
And what is wonderful in it?
Erm... Ri Kyong Suk is very good in her 45. She is teaching vocal in some institute or university. Or maybe in children's palace as other member of Pochonbo band, Jeon Hye Young, does. Last time the ensemble participated in the 10k joint concert "Great Party, Rosy Korea" in October 2015. Stop making conspiracy theories...
I'm glad to hear that she's alive and well but don't act like my curiosity is ignorant when you know as well as I do 12 popstars in the DPRK were executed when Kim Jong Un came into power. Not that Ri Gyeong Suk had any connection to the group...
And one of these 12 "executed" popstars was Marshal Kim Jong Un's "ex-lover" Hyon Song Wol, who appeared on TV alive and well eight months after her execution... It was rumor. Do not believe in them.

Sorry, but I´m unable to understand the meaning of this song, its really good, but seeing the subtitles it just doesnt make sense
I think: she achieved a huge result at work, the photographer/journalist would like to write about her in the newspaper and she says she doesn't deserve it, her name is not important and he should think to the harder efforts done by the railway builders and by the Party, instead. Interpreting with this the lyrics seem clearer. (However, the music video could be ambiguous.)
Welp, that was a lot more propaganda than I had expected.

pretty godo
are there *any* North Korean popular songs (aside from old folk songs) that don't have anything to do with the state or the party? is literally every aspect of life expected to be subsumed under the party?
Yes, there are a lot of them. For example:
Women are flowers
Intimate talk
Don't advance, night of Pyongyang
Whistle
In search of my mental nest
My country is the best
Let's study
I actually like those songs about Party. Not because of politics. Those political songs are just something very exotic for me. They don't write such songs in the West.
At the same time, all Western pop songs are about relationships. That's much more boring in my opinion.
This one!?? It literally has nothing to do with the state
