Some interesting things are shown in the lyrics: -There are some lyrics showing(boasting) North Korea's communist state. On verse 2, the protagonist's heart 'lights up(in happiness)' hearing that his lover did ‘300 of her labor plans’. On verse 3, there are lyrics of 'the innovator(most likely Kim)’. -This music and video is most likely made by the state. The North Korea that is shown here(apartment buildings!) is the better part of North Korea. Most North Koreans live in a much worse state. -Linguistically, as a South Korean, it’s quite fascinating how North Korea does much less spacing between words than South Korea. ‘내 마음 (my feelings)’ is ‘내마음(myfeelings)’ in North Korean punctuation. Also, it’s written in a much antique style of speech. The lyrics are like script from the 1900s. The name used (Bok-sun) is also an antique name(a ‘grandma-name’). I had an assignment in school to research the ways South Korea should preserve its traditional music(gug-ak). So I searched up North Korea’s pop music, thinking it would have some traditional music in it. But I was met with synth-music that sounds and reads like it’s from the 80s, with some communist propaganda sprinkled on top. There’s no sight of traditional Korean music in this song. I did this translation in a whim, seeing that a lot of people wanted translations. So here you go! Hope you have a nice day.
Thank you for the translation, there’s something kind of eerie about this song. There are some leftover traditional elements in some NK-pop songs, such as Tondollari, and Heullari, and I think parts of arirang are used in some. Of course these are synthesised but I suppose it’s an acknowledgement of a time before the kims still. I’m not expert just parroting what i know when i looked into their meanings.

@@PmerjYT It was made and then air dated on September 20, 2017 (From the Episode Wikipedia of the transcript) In Pyongyang, North Korea, day. Korean music plays as a woman sings and various sights are shown. Last one is of Kim Jong-un looking at something through binoculars. A soldier brings him a heaping platter of cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles. Kim Jong-un turns around and looks over the cupcakes.
It’s great when something is exactly what you were expecting…the melody is smooth blend of pirated parts of western songs mixed in with weird creepy soviet sounding synth sounds, and the video speaks for itself, perfect!
One thing to notice here is the genuine warmth and respect with which the lad pursues his love interest. Him bowing to her and bringing her flowers really show that the North values decency, equality and civility amongst their society. Compared to the western music full of oversexualization, degeneracy, foul language and references to violence, this one really makes one feel at ease.
@@yu.czennie Not necessarily true, there have been many attempts by the North Koreans to open themselves to the world. They've all been shot down however. Hell, DPRK has been making political attempts even these last two year.
I don't know what the lyrics of the song say, but it seems like a very cute and naïve, in a good way, love song. :) The style of the song reminds me of the Soviet pop-music, but with a Korean twist (after all, pop-music frequently is affected by traditional music). And the clip... oh, it reminds me of old Soviet movies, as naïve and "tender" as this clip. :) Seems like the regime was not the only thing similar between these two countries. 😅

한번 보면은 어쩐지 다시 못볼듯
Once I see her, somehow, as if I won't be able to see her again
보고 또봐도 그모습 또보고싶네
Regardless how many times I see her, I want to see her again
오늘 계획 삼백을 했다고 생긋이 웃을때
When she smiles saying she did 300 of labor plans,
이 가슴에 불이 인다오
My heart lights up
이 일을 어찌하랴
What should I do
[Chorus] 1:42
휘, 휘 휘, 호 호호, 휘 휘 호호, 호
Whi, whi, whi, whistling, whi, whi, whistling

[Verse 3] 2:22
어제밤에도 불었네 휘파람 휘파람
Even last night, I whistled and whistled
벌써 몇달째 불었네 휘파람 휘파람
For months, I've whistled and whistled

*Notes about the song*
It's a song sung from a man's perspective to a girl named BokSun whom he loves.
Some interesting things are shown in the lyrics:
-There are some lyrics showing(boasting) North Korea's communist state.
Hope you have a nice day.
thank you much for this interesting information. thats fascinating
Sankyu
Thank you for the translation, there’s something kind of eerie about this song.
There are some leftover traditional elements in some NK-pop songs, such as Tondollari, and Heullari, and I think parts of arirang are used in some. Of course these are synthesised but I suppose it’s an acknowledgement of a time before the kims still.
I’m not expert just parroting what i know when i looked into their meanings.
Thanks dear
thanks for the interesting info☺️

@@cat-jz7sj one is south korea pop, the other is north korea pop, it was a joke
One thing to notice here is the genuine warmth and respect with which the lad pursues his love interest. Him bowing to her and bringing her flowers really show that the North values decency, equality and civility amongst their society. Compared to the western music full of oversexualization, degeneracy, foul language and references to violence, this one really makes one feel at ease.
Sounds all cool, but in North Korea women are treates like sub-humans. It's really sad.
spoken like a true 3rd worlder, congrats
@@thrwwyaccnt123Cry westerner. Music from the west is disgusting.
You speak as if songs like this never existed in the West. You are also ignoring the fact that this song is very western in nature.
You are delusional. This isn't reverence for decency. It's thinly-veiled worship of the state.
although I don't understand a single word... , the music is really nice

Fun fact: this song was actually played in the South Park episode "Put it down".
I think North Korea would really prosper if given the necessary space. They are far from the evil creatures as painted by Western media.
The people of North Korea aren’t but I can’t say the same for Jong un
melove joongie don’t insult the Kim dynasty or I’ll need to check your vibe license ) 😳😤
They( the people that rule the country) don't want north koreans to have contact with the world outside, they'll never prosper like this
@@yu.czennie Not necessarily true, there have been many attempts by the North Koreans to open themselves to the world. They've all been shot down however. Hell, DPRK has been making political attempts even these last two year.
It is the capitalist West that is evil
I don't know what the lyrics of the song say, but it seems like a very cute and naïve, in a good way, love song. :) The style of the song reminds me of the Soviet pop-music, but with a Korean twist (after all, pop-music frequently is affected by traditional music). And the clip... oh, it reminds me of old Soviet movies, as naïve and "tender" as this clip. :) Seems like the regime was not the only thing similar between these two countries. 😅
I love this song. Thanks for posting it.
