I've heard that 3rd Degree Burns amongst humans has INCREASED 87%, according to Medical Authorities, from 1995 to the PRESENT, with NO ACCOUNTABLE REASON. Five+-Alarm URBAN structure fires have increased in the same period, by 159%, with NO ACCOUNTABLE REASON. Militaries have reported that their HE (High-Explosives) operations--Warfare or not--are exceeding expected results, for NO ACCOUNTABLE REASONS. According to Law Enforcement, Auto Accidents involving flammability of the involved vehicles, has also increased 95%, for NO ACCOUNTABLE REASONS. What gives?? The sun is now capable of inflicting 2nd Degree Burns during "heat waves"; what gives??

Never ceases to amaze me when you footage of Aussies defending their homes from fire and they are wearing short pants, and t-shirts, singlets or no shirt, and light footwear.

    My understanding of the facts.
Natives used fire for decades for hunting.
Nature adapted and eucalypts became dominate and thrive with fire.
We've practically stopped burning the landscape to control fuel loads.
We now have mammoth fires due to fuel loads.
Drier conditions also play a part but remember all fires need 3 ingredients.

What about water harvesting earthworks like fire breaks with continuous contour ditches or swales, and check dams in gullies to catch spread and soak water higher up in the landscape. These measures would hydrate the soil recharge shallow aquifers, help manage flash floods and catch ash from forest fires to prevent it from settling in reservoirs. There is lots of information on you tube. In India this work is done by communities by hand.

Make no mistakes, Forrest fires are normally natural and necessary. The problem is people move into these places and firefighters are then forced to fight impossible fires.

A lot of fires in the past were caused by people. Now they’re caused by Nature. Mostly from lighting strikes me it’s sad. I live in Arizona near a ton of brush so I’ll lose everything.

i am always amazed and somewhat flummoxed at man fighting fire and what he uses - in areas where its difficult to access with firefighting equipment, he sends in a bunch of guys with hoes to pick at the ground to prevent ground fire spreading, man also lets large areas burn in hope that it burns itself out, we lose thousands of acres this way, with all that man has available to him, there has to be better ways in tackling the problem head on - air tankers as i understand being expensive but providing jobs, only cover around 10% of wildfires, terrain and weather as ever plays its role in preventing many air assaults, but i often wonder at using things like snow machines, which i know can have environmental effects too (i read that leaflet) but using water seems a waste, a snow machine will spread water further and then you have the cooling effect, might work to delete an element or two of the fire triangle, i also wonder at creating devices to explode above the trees, to extinguish and cool the area with an airburst, i wonder how liquid nitrogen might work, what the expense might be set against what might burn and be lost, forest, habitat, nature, buildings, homes, lives - i watched another film where a chap said that most forest vegetation, woodland was worthless, but what about the CO2 it sucks up and the oxygen it gives us, not to mention the air pollution and continued poisoning of water - there is a hell of a lot to consider - whether some trees need fire or not, fires need putting out as soon as possible, and throw everything at it, i know in the US they are beginning to wake up and get helicopters on site asap to extinguish fires while they are still small, you don't hear much of those because they are the successes

I like how everyone is saying that fires are getting bigger... Imagine what it was like before humans... Fires like these and probably bigger happened all the time with the high levels of oxygen. Whole forests being wiped out by fires isn't new to mother Earth people... We're just here to witness it, that's all.
