This is the world's slowest run of TGM, clocking in at just over 50 minutes. For such a new category, I figured I had to make a tutorial with all the known strategies. Enjoy!
sorry i don't know your favourite ice cream flavour i was too busy going downstairs to refill my water bottle and hydrate like a real gamer don't forget to hydrate kids
I'm proud that I was confident on 7 of the 9 questions. You made what would normally be a very boring video an entertaining and educating experience. Great job!
I've gotta second the educational bit. Informational slideshow, complete with graphs/diagrams and interesting tid bits, topped off with a "for funsies" pop quiz at the end? I felt like I was in AP Calculus all over again! Very entertaining despite boring the gameplay was, good job!
I think the fact that you can get the score requirement for level 300 really says a lot about how meaningless that benchmark is lol This was really cool to watch! I've done a few slowruns around 35 minutes just for fun before, didn't know anyone did this too, but the strats were very interesting!
Hey, I missed the chart of all the possible time gains at the end :p Downstacking as much as possible in the medium/fast x00-x99 sections seems like it'll help a lot, both for extra level stop time, and because before 20G you spend more time the further each piece falls. Cool run though! Make sure to have some orange-vanilla swirl to celebrate.
Oh, sorry, I did the time gains chart near the start of the Fast section, the part where some numbers in the split table turned green, not at the actual end of the video.
@@TPM2209 Oh yeah, I saw that but I thought you meant something more granular, like taking more advantage of single clears would gain X, level skips could be worth as much as Y, etc. Either way, interested to see where it goes from here!
@@qqwref2 Ha, I wish I could be bothered to calculate all that more precisely. I just went by my observed best splits in all my past runs, because my sum-of-best is already pretty close to 60 minutes. The next slowrun video you see from me will be that long or longer.
I covered that at 30:19. It does slow the run down a little bit, but in the grand scheme of the category it's too little time gain to matter (about 1 minute).
@@lettuce1626 Maybe once all the potential of the other strategies has been exhausted. About a month after I posted this video, I got another run that beat it by over 18 minutes, so we're not that close to the maximum yet.

Very fun and great presentation!

Fantastic, time to grind slow gms
You can't get GM unless you clear the game in less than 13 minutes and 30 seconds. Best you can hope for is slowest S9 like in this video.
@@TPM2209 the true grind is getting to over an hour mark somehow lol
@@TPM2209 obviously they meant slow GM (Gyaku Master)
Question, wouldn't it be slower if you focused on clearing single lines cause the clearing animation takes a bit of time

@@TPM2209 aren't WR all about taking advantage of the smallest points

Quite interesting
I loved the part where there were blocks falling
Orange vanilla though ? Really, does it taste great ? It surely sounds weird...
so making a slow run is harder than making a speedrun
btw, where to find the happy happy remix at the end of the video?
Technictix / Technic Beat
@@gilasspcan you be a bit more specific?, there's a lot of songs from those games lol
