Has to be said, New Zealand "couldn't" be bothered either. The crowds are pathetic. Give it to England, as after the WC, as it was given to New Zealand, maybe the same, maybe better, no idea but if the same, scrap the tournie, or re-think it. Sending WXV 2 and 3 to the samr place is not helping and maybe send WXV1 to a developing country, like Italy, or spain, or holland, maybe a joint tournie, but something has to change.

@@aaeeturner I wasn't talking about the Red Roses. I was specifically talking about the Black Ferns. England has a great team. That is not debatable. They can probably field two teams and they will beat most of the top sides. I know how the Black Ferns can play. They have some very talented players but they seem to go backwards under this coaching team. Their defence is atrocious. Their handling skills the same. That is terrible for a professional team. Even Ruby Tui who is an exceptional player have lost her spark since she left the 7s program. It will be the greatest miracle if they can turn things around before the world cup. Fingers crossed but I haven't seen anything that'll convince me otherwise.

Maybe I'm seeing something different from everyone else, or maybe Harrison has an injury. England don't have a kicker as good as her and Aitchison seemed to make a lot of mistakes which were the root cause of quite a few Black Fern scores in this game yet stayed on. The England coaches have a very good squad to choose from but there is something not quite right here ??

What a complete faff on just to try and find the time of the match and where to watch it on TV. I was googling away and results were coming up with matches played years ago and repeatedly having to look on the BBC iplayer because the match itself only popped up for selection very late on. I would guess a lot of people would have given up? The players deserve better than this.

Been watching all the games on iplayer, once I realised the tournements had even started???
Think the promotion has been very poor as has the games being visible on iplayer, like minutes before the kick off.
Crowds at both the WXV1 and WXV2 seem very poor and why the ENG vs NZ match did not get onto one of the main BBC channels I don't know and several of the others come to that. Thought the IRE vs NZ game was brilliant.
Think the women's rugby is great and the players are all a credit to their countries. Players and fans deserve much better, as the fans will show when they turn out for the six nations and world cup.

As a NZ rugby fan there are only so many hidings I can take as a fan. The Abs admittedly have been struggling but they were only a few points adrift against the best team in the world the Boks. There is however a gulf in class between NZ and the best side England at the moment. So many unforced errors and poor tactical decisions makes for a hard watch. In the end if the team keeps losing they will lose all the good work built up by the RWC and fans will find other things to watch. That's just professional sport . No one is entitled to a paying audience

@@MrAhuapai I agree, to hear the Ferns talk about "revenge" you wonder if their egos are bigger than their game. They need more self-criticism, less sensitivity to hard-nosed coaches who tell them where they need to improve , e.g. fitness, kicking skills. I do wonder if we actually have the coaching skills in NZ, we seem to be falling behind in coaching creativity, they just seem slow in addressing deficiencies.

It was a great match! New Zealand have improved a lot since the last meeting, and showed some great skill. Awesome to see Breach finally get some good recognition for her next-level work-rate (she was everywhere!), plus of course 3 tidy tries and 2 try-assists. She really does need to work on her defense tho, missed a few crucial tackles but overall a great performance from the speedster.
Aitchison certainly didn't have the best of games, but we know from her previous form (especially in last year's WXV) that she is ordinarily a world-class player... seems to me that something has knocked her confidence? Hopefully she gets it back soon!

That's true both for quick hands short passing, and also those 10m+ passes out in front with some zip and accuracy, both being on show in this game. Questions have to be asked about this. World Rugby is trying to lead the way in making Rugby Union equal. In 2021 made it clear that the RWC in both XV and VII would be gender equal especially in name, it’s know as the RWC. In 2023 the SVNS series is now fully gender equal including pay. Going back to the XV game. On the men’s side The All Blacks and The Springboks are the best with 7 RWC titles between them. On the women’s side The Black Ferns and The Red Roses are the best and have 8 RWC titles between them. So just scratching my head trying to understand why the two of the four best teams in all of World Rugby are playing a test in a field in a country that clearly can’t be bothered about Rugby, when just weeks ago when they played in front of 60,000 people at Twickenham with a professional broadcast. Not to mention the World Cup Final which sold out Eden Park. We also just witnessed 200,000 people pack out the Stad de France (70,000 every day for 3 days) to watch the the women’s tournament for Rugby at the Olympics.

Men's game is a game of such marginal gains nowadays that teams are willing to play very boringly in order to get ahead. Still think there's a lot more skill in the average men'splayer, but because of the nature of the men's game they hardly ever get to show it.

England looked great in the open but their pure power is way ahead. The only real concern is that the hits in the womens game are getting bigger and bigger. Was kinda hoping overall the the womens game would go slightly different than the men's considering how it has developed in the last 5 or so years. What i mean by this is the women's 7's at the Olympics was super. Was hoping the game in general would move to a more open game rather than power based.

NZ need to sort some of the tackling and is there a bit of a shortage of pace or fitness when in support of a near runaway? But as always great game to watch. No fan at all of this playing outside of the competing nations.

I wonder if New Zealand has ever experienced such a low point in its rugby history. Both the men’s and women’s teams are suffering significant defeats. It’s disheartening to see such a proud rugby nation struggle like this. The decline seems to stem mainly from an aging team (especially the men’s), a lack of speed (the line is practically walking), and poor coaching.
On November 2nd, England is likely to deliver another heavy defeat, followed by humiliating losses to Ireland and France on November 9th and 17th, respectively.
Perhaps it would be wise for the teams to consider a temporary hiatus from rugby until they can sort out the fundamentals and restore their reputation.

The factors affecting men's and women's rugby appear to be quite different > the ABs are not an aging team comparatively. The average age this year was 27 in the RWC 2015 win the average age was 29.
The major factor is that the All blacks do not simply have the caliber of individuals they have had previously. Only 2 ABs would be considered World XV material Savea and Jordan. In 2015 they would of had 7 or eight players [possibly the best in the world.
England have been far and away the best for years now. The RWC was an aberration as NZ had everything go their way including a red card.
The biggest impact for the BFs would be If the women's kicking game was to improve. Currently they struggle to exit efficiently . The halves are very slow in delivery. Maia Joseph takes forever to clear the ruck.

Rugby although is still held in high regard in NZ the number of registered players both in club, provincial, and super rugby have dropped considerably in the last few years. It also had something to do with the kind of competition we have down here. NZ only have Australia to compete with and given how Australia rugby is not as strong as it used to it's hardly a surprise to see the standard dropped. There are more registered football and basketball players compared to rugby. The lure of other sports such as rugby league, rowing, sailing, kayaking, cricket, motor sports, as well as winter sports have all contributed.

If the Roses had a goal kicker it would have been all over at half time. Why is Holly preferred over Harrison ? She is weak in defence and can't run apart from that little gripe the Roses are the best. The World champions beat a Roses side that played with 14 players after 20 minutes !!just saying

    • @neill392

Holly didn't take any of the kicks, Rowland, Harrison and Scarratt did. The fact that most of them were from the touchline might explain the success rate.

In fairness I would be a shade worried if I was in the NZ camp, I mean 21 of their points resulted from England mistakes and interceptions, in fairness they spotted the slight weakness in tackling through the Scrum half Stand off defensive area? Alot of their offensive breaks came through that section?

I agree that ZH is a much better kicker from hand and off the tee. Her distribution is very similar to HA, so I would start her at 10 especially as England tend to score many of their points in the first half. Of the 9 tries scored only two were converted. A very different ratio to the USA match where ZH was kicking.

The kicking in womans game isn't that great as a whole but even the best womans kicker would've struggled to hit most of those. Alot of the tries were down the wing so high percentage of the conversion kicks were high tarrif. But i do agree if they were made in the first half the scoreline would've looked a whole lot worse for NZ and it would've gave them zero hope of a come back.
