Such a shame that the stadiums were almost empty. These women regardless of what nation they are from deserves much better. Wonder how many will turn up for Canada V Red Roses ?
Final pass for the first England try was miles forward. England also missed 14 pts from conversion so New Zealand could have conceded 64 points in total
49 wins out of their last 50. The only defeat sadly being in the WC final when they were down to 14 players for most of the game and still nearly won. Head and shoulders above everyone else, but it's good to see other teams also upping their game and things getting more competitive behind England with Canada doing really well, Ireland beating the Black Ferns, France playing well etc. Hopefully more women's teams will become fully professional to keep matches competitive.
The fitness levels of these women athletes has come on so much over the last 10-15 years. So good to see the English women's team gaining the reputation they deserve for all their hard work. It will take some awesome team to beat this current side, they are so strong in all areas.
Questions have to be asked about this. World Rugby is trying to lead the way in making Rugby Union equal. In 2021 made it clear that the RWC in both XV and VII would be gender equal especially in name, it’s know as the RWC. In 2023 the SVNS series is now fully gender equal including pay. Going back to the XV game. On the men’s side The All Blacks and The Springboks are the best with 7 RWC titles between them. On the women’s side The Black Ferns and The Red Roses are the best and have 8 RWC titles between them. So just scratching my head trying to understand why the two of the four best teams in all of World Rugby are playing a test in a field in a country that clearly can’t be bothered about Rugby, when just weeks ago when they played in front of 60,000 people at Twickenham with a professional broadcast. Not to mention the World Cup Final which sold out Eden Park. We also just witnessed 200,000 people pack out the Stad de France (70,000 every day for 3 days) to watch the the women’s tournament for Rugby at the Olympics.
I cant remember when England looked so good and NZ looked so average, well done to the Roses, to our Ferns,,, heads up we still love you and your still our pride and joy, your mana will return
Absolutely fabulous match, high standard Rugby from both sides, these Ladies deserve so much better attendance. The that fact that the World's number two side is hosting this tournament and the Stadium is empty is a disgrace, World Rugby need to take a close look and hold the Canadian RU body accountable. If England can get 42, 000 to Twickenham for the same match up less than a month ago then Canada need to aim for the same.
England's last two games at Twickenham have a combined total of over 100,000 spectators. The organisation in Canada has been embarrassing and unprofessional. Zero promotion and almost zero people watching. Sack the Canadian promoters and in future choose the locations wisely.
I agree with this and other similar posts but Rugby just isn't as big a game generally in that part of the world as it is in Europe and Oceania and it's a long way for fans to travel. Plus, it's being played during school term, so can't even be considered as part of a family holiday for the nations taking part.
More fluid only vos they're aren't as good or precise. Like that in most sports. Ladies struggle to kick ball out to touch on demand, and the collisions will never compare hence less attrition and more fluidity. They're are completely different games.
As a life-long lover of the men's game I have to agree with the entertaining part. Men's game is a game of such marginal gains nowadays that teams are willing to play very boringly in order to get ahead. Still think there's a lot more skill in the average men'splayer, but because of the nature of the men's game they hardly ever get to show it. This England women's team just puts on a clinic every game. As an England fan it's so good to watch.
England looked great in the open but their pure power is way ahead. The only real concern is that the hits in the womens game are getting bigger and bigger. Was kinda hoping overall the the womens game would go slightly different than the men's considering how it has developed in the last 5 or so years. What i mean by this is the women's 7's at the Olympics was super. Was hoping the game in general would move to a more open game rather than power based.
NZ need to sort some of the tackling and is there a bit of a shortage of pace or fitness when in support of a near runaway? But as always great game to watch. No fan at all of this playing outside of the competing nations.
The attendance for a game between 2 top class teams was a disgrace. In other locations there would be far greater crowds. Should the Canadians want to promote rugby playing in front of so few makes the game look amateurish. Why not promote the game by giving away tickets to schools. Crowd bigger more noise and gives youngsters a chance to see the game played at its best
NZ are well off the pace. Have great individuals.. but aren't exposed to tough pro rugby enough. Maybe a few could play club in the north to get match hardend.
I wonder if New Zealand has ever experienced such a low point in its rugby history. Both the men’s and women’s teams are suffering significant defeats. It’s disheartening to see such a proud rugby nation struggle like this. The decline seems to stem mainly from an aging team (especially the men’s), a lack of speed (the line is practically walking), and poor coaching. On November 2nd, England is likely to deliver another heavy defeat, followed by humiliating losses to Ireland and France on November 9th and 17th, respectively. Perhaps it would be wise for the teams to consider a temporary hiatus from rugby until they can sort out the fundamentals and restore their reputation.
The factors affecting men's and women's rugby appear to be quite different > the ABs are not an aging team comparatively. The average age this year was 27 in the RWC 2015 win the average age was 29. The major factor is that the All blacks do not simply have the caliber of individuals they have had previously. Only 2 ABs would be considered World XV material Savea and Jordan. In 2015 they would of had 7 or eight players [possibly the best in the world. England have been far and away the best for years now. The RWC was an aberration as NZ had everything go their way including a red card. The biggest impact for the BFs would be If the women's kicking game was to improve. Currently they struggle to exit efficiently . The halves are very slow in delivery. Maia Joseph takes forever to clear the ruck.
Rugby although is still held in high regard in NZ the number of registered players both in club, provincial, and super rugby have dropped considerably in the last few years. It also had something to do with the kind of competition we have down here. NZ only have Australia to compete with and given how Australia rugby is not as strong as it used to it's hardly a surprise to see the standard dropped. There are more registered football and basketball players compared to rugby. The lure of other sports such as rugby league, rowing, sailing, kayaking, cricket, motor sports, as well as winter sports have all contributed.
Why does the southern hemisphere consistently have to come up with new names for everything in rugby? The latest one I’ve been hearing is “fend” instead of “hand off”.
England played well but still conceded some soft tries from NZ in the second half, just like they did against France in previous meetings. More work is required to be truly ruthless.
Great match from England especially the back three. However, Vahaakolo, Tui and Holmes missed straight up one on one tackles and charged down kicks for five of those (soft) tries. Terrible defending
Yes ) but it’s like the football and the cricket ,they steamroller teams in friendlies and minor tournaments only to screw it up when it matters .England lost to NZ in the World Cup final,it’s their only loss in the last 9 against them.
NZ try 1 comes from a knock on in the scrum try2 is a massive forward pass over the top how the ref misses that is a joke try 3 is a good one 4 in from an offside posstion then when chased down the NZ forward does not release. try 5 was a good forward effort. But the Ref'ing in these games again is terrible. England are so much better than everyone else even the 2nd best team when called correctly is no where near them.
No, if you bothered to listen properly she said the England backs were lined up a little flat not that the pass to Dow was flat. It wasn't forward either.
Wasn't a strong NZ team plenty of newbie's who have never been out of the country ever, and a lot of retired,or senior player's,playing in the Australian women's rugby league comp, and some of our youngsters are still at university,or just out of college,,be different in 10 months time, especially if the NZRFU brings in the big gun coaches, like before the last WRWC,after the, disastrous NH tour,
No rivalry, NZ women had won more WRWCs than anyone else,so nope, just some Pom trying to create a type of rivalry, just a game, like before the last WRWC where NZ lost pretty much all their NH game's,and this NZ team is full of very young player's that have never toured,or been in this environment before Just watched the France game where NZ girl's weren't there yet, made so simple mistakes, but still won very well, going to be a different team in 10months time, when the NZRFU brings in the big gun's to help, like they did just before the last WRWC here in NZ, especially after their disasterous NH tour, before the last WRWC
@@markvinylgenie2920Oh another cocky pom. England were whopping every team easy before the last World Cup. Then at the World Cup they they barely beat France and Canada before losing to the greatest team in rugby history. It's like the English have a built in choke mechanism.
And . . . three of the NZ turnovers were illegal - no clear release by the tackler. No 6 lying all over the ruck. Players on the wrong side. It happens. Swings and roundabouts.
Someone else who doesn’t know the rules, if it comes backwards out of the hands it’s a legal pass, momentum from running forward may mean it’s caught in front of where it was passed from but that’s ok as long as it came out of the hands backwards, this is all checked by video referees at this level.
England were denied the world cup last time by a crap ref who should have given England a penalty try in the last few minutes but chickened-out. It will not happen again next time, the Red Roses will triumph.
If the Roses had a goal kicker it would have been all over at half time. Why is Holly preferred over Harrison ? She is weak in defence and can't run apart from that little gripe the Roses are the best. The World champions beat a Roses side that played with 14 players after 20 minutes !!just saying
Holly didn't take any of the kicks, Rowland, Harrison and Scarratt did. The fact that most of them were from the touchline might explain the success rate.
In fairness I would be a shade worried if I was in the NZ camp, I mean 21 of their points resulted from England mistakes and interceptions, in fairness they spotted the slight weakness in tackling through the Scrum half Stand off defensive area? Alot of their offensive breaks came through that section?
I agree that ZH is a much better kicker from hand and off the tee. Her distribution is very similar to HA, so I would start her at 10 especially as England tend to score many of their points in the first half. Of the 9 tries scored only two were converted. A very different ratio to the USA match where ZH was kicking.
The kicking in womans game isn't that great as a whole but even the best womans kicker would've struggled to hit most of those. Alot of the tries were down the wing so high percentage of the conversion kicks were high tarrif. But i do agree if they were made in the first half the scoreline would've looked a whole lot worse for NZ and it would've gave them zero hope of a come back.

Ellie Kidunne boom boom power go go~~
Bloody hell, I wish the Welsh men could pass the ball like that !! Fantastic handling
Such a shame that the stadiums were almost empty. These women regardless of what nation they are from deserves much better. Wonder how many will turn up for Canada V Red Roses ?
@@brianoakley980 No problems with the Australian team. If you want to make something work then you do more to make it work.
less probably
Awesome England 👏👏👏👏👏👏
well done, roses!
Wow. England are now more balanced. All the tries by backs. Not the case at the World Cup. Great highlights - some quality teies
England are brilliant . Should of won by far more.
Good match. As said in earlier comment. The ground was empty ,
The fitness levels of these women athletes has come on so much over the last 10-15 years.
I agree entirely.
You’ll drive yourself mad trying to fathom the decisions of rugby Suits, Leo. Lost cause, mate, they live on another planet. 🙄
Canada are the second best team in the world at the moment is the only response I can make
You can't have every tournament in England and France.
However agree hosts could have done more.
England's back three scored more points than NZ's entire 23.
Canada Women's Rugby is Nothing WITHOUT the FANS .
who cant beat the roses? too strong (a french fan)
More satisfaction watching the England women than men.
Goal kicking still seems to the elephant in the room for the otherwise near-perfect Red Roses :(
England's last two games at Twickenham have a combined total of over 100,000 spectators. The organisation in Canada has been embarrassing and unprofessional. Zero promotion and almost zero people watching. Sack the Canadian promoters and in future choose the locations wisely.
Why these competitions should be in UK, France or New Zealand
And Canada is building a formidable team, that deserves a Canadian audience.
I agree with this and other similar posts but Rugby just isn't as big a game generally in that part of the world as it is in Europe and Oceania and it's a long way for fans to travel. Plus, it's being played during school term, so can't even be considered as part of a family holiday for the nations taking part.
@@Poweroftouch The crowds in NZ were not overwhelming for WXV1
Le rugby au Canada est aussi populaire que le cricket en France , les stades sont tristement vides .
Congratulations to England women team winning over NZ
I think that the ladies games are far more entertaining and skilful than the men’s game. Well done ladies.
I think the standard is more consistent.
Maybe more entertaining but I think thats because they arent as good in reality.
@@rodwellchigome7567 Fair points, but I do quite like that just booting it to touch isn't everyone's first thought, makes for more running rugby!
Power works for professionals versus amateurs.
Like the English men team from decades ago. Bori g but winning.
NZ need to sort some of the tackling and is there a bit of a shortage of pace or fitness when in support of a near runaway? But as always great game to watch. No fan at all of this playing outside of the competing nations.
Very well done the Roses. Keep it going!! It is for the rest now to try and catch you. No one will enjoy playing against you :)
Well done, England women, but it could, and should, have been a wider gap. Great all the same.
Aicherson can’t tackle!
Abbi Dow has watched Portia Woodman’s fend-off, and got it down pat.
The gap is being closed.
I forgot to mention cycling
Seriously???
Why does the southern hemisphere consistently have to come up with new names for everything in rugby? The latest one I’ve been hearing is “fend” instead of “hand off”.
The english team just too strong for our kiwi girls, well played by them.
These events should only be given to nations who want to promote them, apparently Canada did not advertise S powers that be learn from this.
Dubai. why Dubai? Fine if you like 7's but not for 80 mins 15's.
Wot hachuly are these games iv sin loads latly including the men is some competion on i dont now about neil england 👍
Yes ) but it’s like the football and the cricket ,they steamroller teams in friendlies and minor tournaments only to screw it up when it matters .England lost to NZ in the World Cup final,it’s their only loss in the last 9 against them.
Kildunne getting away with a comically forward pass for that first England try 😂
England are so much better than everyone else even the 2nd best team when called correctly is no where near them.
pommie commentator reckoned the first try came about from a movement that was a ''little flat'', we call it a forward pass down our way, ref...
No, if you bothered to listen properly she said the England backs were lined up a little flat not that the pass to Dow was flat. It wasn't forward either.
England unrecognisable from the forward dominated team from the last WC...... this will be the final next year.....& probably the same sort of margin.
If the english girls could actually kick conversions this would have been close to 60 points or over.
England back line really pacy and exhilirating.
Another massive crowd watching women's sport 😂😂 NOT !!
New Zealand's backline don't tackle and Englands Women's team is better than their male counterparts
No 11 for NZ needs to learn how to tackle. Leaking easy tries.
Haka past it's sell by date.
Wasn't a strong NZ team plenty of newbie's who have never been out of the country ever, and a lot of retired,or senior player's,playing in the Australian women's rugby league comp, and some of our youngsters are still at university,or just out of college,,be different in 10 months time, especially if the NZRFU brings in the big gun coaches, like before the last WRWC,after the, disastrous NH tour,
It won't be different. NZ are not good enough. Simple. No excuses
FRANCE V FERNS GOING TO BE GOOD. 49 POINTS AGAINST FERNS. DISGRACEFUL.
The Ferns also have Canada to come ... missed out v them last time
Si ça, c'est pas du rugby, alors faut virer toute la pro D2!!!!
Can’t someone teach Breach how to tackle?
How about teaching Aitchison as well?
@@DavidCESmith she had a terrible game……I know it is too late but why isn’t Scarratt a fly-half ?
Scoring 3 tries has a habit of negating the odd missed tackle !
No rivalry, NZ women had won more WRWCs than anyone else,so nope, just some Pom trying to create a type of rivalry, just a game, like before the last WRWC where NZ lost pretty much all their NH game's,and this NZ team is full of very young player's that have never toured,or been in this environment before
Just watched the France game where NZ girl's weren't there yet, made so simple mistakes, but still won very well, going to be a different team in 10months time, when the NZRFU brings in the big gun's to help, like they did just before the last WRWC here in NZ, especially after their disasterous NH tour, before the last WRWC
NZ have fallen behind I'm afraid. Losing to Ireland even, a team England put 88 points past.
@@markvinylgenie2920Oh another cocky pom.
England were whopping every team easy before the last World Cup. Then at the World Cup they they barely beat France and Canada before losing to the greatest team in rugby history. It's like the English have a built in choke mechanism.
I'm neutral watching this one. 3 of England's tries were clear forward passes. When are the officials going to play the game by the rules?
And . . . three of the NZ turnovers were illegal - no clear release by the tackler.
At the end of the day its womens rugby???
Good question. Perhaps "they" rugby would be more appropriate?
Never heard of WXV before?
Meaning?
Misogynists shouldn’t watch. Back to mommy’s basement you go.
portia is being missed.
Dont do tackling practice . Black ferns need to learn to tackle around the legs
I feel Holly is off her best.
